Time Goes Too Fast Tuesday

Rewind four years ago to a cold January day...the day we celebrated the gift of our Baby Flynn at her Baptism. I loved that day...I always loved Baptism Day for so many reasons. I loved thanking God for the gift He blessed us with. I loved the feeling of completeness the day brought. First there was the pregnancy...then the birth...the bringing baby home...and finally, the Baptism. I always felt as if that was the end of one period and the beginning of the next...the start of our lives as a new family.

I remember this day so very well. I remember most being alone in my room with Flynn after all the festivities ended, removing the beautiful Baptism dress that all of my daughters wore and thanking God yet again as the scent of chrism oil surrounded her. And if I try really hard...I can still smell it.

The beautiful cake for our girl.

So serious my baby was...
She was wearing a sweater made by my great grandmother. My mother put new white ribbon in just for Flynn. : )

Thank you God, again, for the gift of our Flynn Grace. : )

  1. I agree with what you said, it's like the baby's Baptism is the end of one period of time and a new one is just beginning. And time flies by from there. What precious memories.
Each my children's Baptisms have been unique for one reason or another, but by far Margaret's was my favorite. I think part of it was because it was the first that one of our good friends, a priest, did for us and he made it so special for everyone in attendance. He included my other children in the ceremony, asked them questions why we do certain things during Baptism and explained so much. It was definitely a treasured day I will never forget.
Isn't the smell of chrism just so beautiful, so unique? I can always smell it for days and like you, I think I can still smell it if I really try.

  8. I LOVE the scent of the chrism oil. And isn't it amazing how as we grow older and wiser the sacraments are seem more powerful than when we were kids or even first time mamas? I even cry in church when another child receives his First Communion. Special memories to always keep close to the heart. That cake was beautiful! But not as beautiful as baby Flynn on her special day :)

  9. How sweet! Great photos and precious memories...

My youngest, Stephen, always had such serious looking eyebrows. I posted a little memory today of him, as well.

    Have a great day!

  10. I too have such wonderful memories of each of my kids baptisms. Once they were baptized I had a feeling of comfort and peace. Nicolas wore the outfit that Ray wore when he was baptized.

  12. Precious pictures! Oh that chrism oil…I love it so much!!! I cherish the memories of all three of my children's Baptismal days. All three of my babies wore my Baptismal gown…beautifully preserved by my mother. I know I have 2 boys…but they wore the gown as well. Loved a little peek at your sweet girls precious day when she joined our Catholic family!!!!
