Happy 6th Birthday Flynn Grace

It's true what they say, you know. Time flies. My baby. My baby is turning 6. It is all relative though, I think. When my oldest child Madison was 6, I had two younger children. And I thought Madison was old! She wore jeans and Tommy Hilfiger shirts to Kindergarten. She had play dates and...gasp! sleepovers. At our house, of course. Flynn is my baby. She wears dresses and bows. Everywhere. Fortunately, she loves them. She loves to be home with me. And to me she seems so young. That is not to say I am in denial about the fact she must grow. I am struggling with it, but encouraging and being amazed by it at the same time. What else can I do? From the moment they place that sweet smelling bundle of joy in your arms, he or she will grow. And that is exactly what is supposed to happen. As parents, as much as we want to hold on to that tiny baby and stop time...we will always fail. Babies grow. And become children. Children grow and become teenagers. Teenagers grow. And become young adults. And each stage is wonderful. We are but one tiny link in this unending chain of mothers and fathers and babies and children. And as much as it hurts my heart to watch my baby grow, that is her job. Mine? To be beside her every step of the way.

And so one day I can look back and remember...

At 6 years old Flynn still likes milk. And only white milk. That's it.

She loves school. She loves it.

Flynn loves SpongeBob. She knows every episode. And so do I. : )

She still loves Cinderella. She dances and sings and twirls and pretends to be her. All the time.

Flynn loves her new puppy, Mocha. She is the biggest helper with her.

She loves to help me! She dusts, and carries clothes baskets, and mops. Really.
(Could be a Cinderella thing.)

She still loves to snuggle with me every afternoon on the couch. With the blue blanket. And the dogs.

Flynn loves strawberries, yogurt, peanut butter sandwiches, and sliced apples.

She adores her blanket, Taggie. And must be holding the soft little tag when she drinks her milk.

She is always happy. Always fun. And she tells me she will always love me. Even if 1000 skunks spray me, she would still hug and love me. : )

Happy Birthday, Flynn Grace. We love you!!!

  1. Good Morning Billie Jo,

Your little Flynn is so adorable! I especially love that last photo with you holding her - so precious. At six years old, she is so tiny, such a baby still. My youngest is already 16!

My oldest was old much faster than my youngest. My third child was born when my oldest was six. I remember her holding the baby and helping me around the house. A few years latter she became my little baker. She loved baking things and setting the table for tea for her younger siblings.

My youngest was younger at six, much more still a baby. I think it has to do with having older siblings loving and caring for him. Everyone adores him, even still at 16. There is no problem with everyone saying that he is there favorite. He is kind and loves everyone deeply.

I think Flynn is the way she is because she has all her family around loving her. The youngest simply is the baby, even as they grow up - they are simply so precious - the last child.

I am so happy for you to get to have your little Flynn. ♫Happy Birthday to your darling!♫♪

That skunk comment is just to funny. :)

  6. Our mother's hearts never get over our babies...never. But it is also fun to see them grow and learn and become responsible adults. Flynn being the baby and the last one, makes it doubly hard. Like you, I remember all the special times, words spoken, hugs given, and mine are now 46, 44, 42. Enjoy each moment, each day and dont blink!

Oh friend I know how hard it is to have your baby grow older especially when they are much younger than your others....you seem to want to hold on to them a bit longer.

  14. What a post to treasure!
My fourteen year old daughter is my baby of four.
Tonight she practiced for a mock job interview at homeschool co-op.
Then she crawled on my lap for "her song".
She's growing, but still needs her momma.
    Blessings,
    Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage

  21. I may have mentioned this before but your Flynn reminds me so much of my little sister (all grown up now though she may be, she's always my "little" sister ;). There's an 8 year gap between the two of us so to my older sister and I, she was like our own living doll! From the long hair to the dresses, your daughter even looks like a younger version of my sis. And although she is now 23, she was always my mom's baby! I definitely think there's something special about the love a Mama has for her baby and, according my sister, there's something very special about the love a "baby" has for her Mama. :) Happy Birthday to your sweet girl! Enjoy!
