Feast Of The Assumption

The Feast of the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated this year on Thursday, August 15. This is my very favorite of all feast days. I have a special relationship with Our Lady, and always feel very close to her on this day. I remember sitting in Mass one time many years ago, and our priest suggested if we had any special intentions for Mary, we should bring them to her on her feast day. Every year I do just that. I make a short list of intentions and bring them to Our Lady. I try to take them from my heart and place them at her feet. I also offer prayers of thanks to her for the many blessings I have in my life.

Here is my special prayer spot. It is in a corner of my bedroom.

Here is my prayer table...see that prayer book? My parents received it as a wedding gift over 56 years ago. When I was in college, my mom had it rebound for me, because I had worn it right out!

This is a little prayer I cut out of our church bulletin some years ago.

Happy Feast Of The Assumption, friends!

  3. I love your little prayer corner. That is so nice to have. My kids run off with all my things, but one day I hope to have something like this again when they are a little older.

Isn't Our Lady wonderful? She has been such a guiding light to Christ in my life for sure!

  4. Thanks for sharing this special part of your life with us! My favorite summer spot to pray is the porch...in the winter, it's the living room I guess. With littles, no spot is "safe"!! haha!

I have a special relationship with our Lady also. I am completing my 18th consecration to Jesus through our Lady. Ending on my favorite feast day, the Assumption! I'll be thinking of you.

  5. I too love the Assumption. In fact, it was Mary Catherine's first Mass ever!!! She would have been just 11-days old that year (the 15th fell on a Sunday) and I was comfortable taking her "out of the house"!!! Ha! How's that for a first time mother!!! LOL (Poor Luke...I think I hit the grocery store with him the first day home from the hospital!!!) Loving your prayer spot!!! Beautiful.

  6. What a serene and peaceful prayer spot! I am going to adopt your tradition and spend some time in prayer about what intentions to lay at Our Lady's feet on Thursday.

    God bless you, Billie Joe!

  7. Ditto to what Allison wrote! I have that same "Speak Lord, Your Servant is Listening" brochure. I had a book, but misplaced it. I use it at Adoration, and they have a basket full of the brochures. Just LOVE it, don't you?? May you have a peace-filled feast day!

  8. Love your prayer corner. How special you have that book from your parents. It reminds me of that quote, "A bible that's falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't." Nice pamphlet,by the way :) I'm glad you like it.
