All The Christmas

Hello! Welcome to the week in between, otherwise known as the week you are unsure of what day it is; cookies are the breakfast of choice, the beds go unmade, the vacuum is untouched, and the most significant decision you make is what television show to binge. Or is that just here? In any case, I love this week, as it keeps Christmas alive for more than just one day. Here is a look back at our Christmas, which began on Christmas Eve.

I lit the candle we light only one day a year and started to prepare for our Christmas Eve dinner by setting the table. I do that first so it is ready, no matter what else comes up during the day.

The rest of the day passed quickly with cups of cocoa, dinner prep, and even a quick nap. Madison helped me with my hair before we put the finishing touches on our dinner.

This year, we prepared beef tips in a red wine sauce, barbeque meatballs, egg noodles, cheese potatoes, red cabbage, Christmas salad, and cornbread. For dessert, Madison made pumpkin pie.

Christmas Day was cold and cloudy, which was perfect weather for me! There were stockings, cinnamon rolls sent by Peyton, and presents galore. We spent the day together in our cozy clothes, opening gifts, heating up leftovers, and snacking on delicious cookies. Thank you, Peyton! And, of course, a Christmas day phone call with my wonderful, sweet momma!

What else have we been up to these cozy Christmas days?

Even though our family was not together this Christmas, we were not apart. That will always be this mama's Christmas wish. Happy and Blessed New Year, my friends! I will be back on Friday. And for anyone staying in over the new year, Syfy Channel has a Twilight Zone marathon running from New Year's Eve through New Year's Day. You know where I'll be if you need me!

  1. I'm so happy you and your family had a lovely holiday season!! The week between Christmas and NY is just truly magical. My favorite week of the year. We spent our week much like you did. It's so nice to have no schedule, no 'have To's' and just enjoy the time however you want. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year my friend!

The family selfie made me smile…that’s what it’s all about (and the kids in the background - yay!) Have a great week - thanks for taking the time to share your Christmas with all of us.

  6. Happy Monday Billie Jo! It was wonderful seeing all of your happy, blessed Christmas photos. Everything looks so festive and your family is one of the sweetest. I love how you all love to be together so much. How do you manage that with the in-law families? We spent the day alone because our daughter and family were at her in-laws Christmas Eve and Day. It's fine, we're used to it but sometimes....I wish it were different. Of course, if we lived nearer our son and family in London we would be with their extended family for all of the holidays through the year. In fact, they make a point to facetime with us every year so "T's" father can light the Christmas cake with us there. We did talk to all of our children at some point throughout the day so we really enjoyed that.
Enjoy your quiet time this week. I sure am. A very lazy day. It's 10:30 am and I'm still in my pj's.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  8. Billie Jo, you had a wonderful warm and cozy Christmas! We've taken our tree down, as the needles were falling off in droves, but the little fake pine trees are still glowing with their white lights, and there are colored lights near the play area, and the snowmen are still smiling and happy on their shelves. I am not ready to say goodbye to Christmas yet. We had 37 people here on Christmas Eve, 20 on Christmas Day, phew, but it's all about family, isn't it? Thank you for sharing your lovely family, as always: I love love love how much you guys appreciate each other. Have a really good and cozy week!

  15. Oh my goodness, where do I begin? The food all looks wonderful. And your table is gorgeous! So regal looking! Did you make the flower arrangement? The tree looks perfect where you put it, and WOW, those gifts under it! They are all wrapped so fancy and beautiful! I have to admit that most of the gifts I had got put in bags with tissue. Your family photos came out so good! Your home sure is beautiful, and your kitchen cabinets are almost exactly like mine.

  16. I love your hair pulled back with that bow in the back! I keep seeing that and want to try that look. Your Christmas Eve and day sound delightful, even if you weren't all together this year. I think that's the case for so many; I treasure the days that I have all of mine with me and that they spend Christmas Eve night with me. I know you do the same when you have all of your family together!
