Good Monday morning, my friends! And Happy December! I am currently sipping my morning coffee from one of my very favorite Christmas mugs. I have a whole set of these Rudolph mugs I got when the kids were young. Rudolph will always be my favorite! How was your weekend? Here, it was filled with the end of Thanksgiving—turkey soup, turkey sandwiches, pumpkin pie—and the beginning of all things Christmas!
Friday night, we went to the tree-lighting ceremony in the center of town. It was like a Hallmark Christmas movie! If you have seen Gilmore Girls, you can relate to me expecting to see Taylor and Kirk around or thinking we could pop into Luke's for coffee and cocoa.
On Saturday, we attended a beautiful mass for the first Sunday of Advent. Then, we came home, lit the first Advent candle, and enjoyed some turkey soup. It was delicious if I do say so myself!
The remainder of the weekend was spent in cozy clothes, doing some online shopping, sipping hot coffee, and planning all the fun things we hope to do this Christmas season. Will we get to all of them? Probably not. There is no shame in not going and doing and filling every free moment. Sitting by the tree, listening to Christmas music, sipping cocoa, and eating a cookie or two is one way to enjoy the Christmas season and bring peace to yourself as well.
Have a cozy Monday, and thank you for visiting!
Billie Jo
Sounds like a great weekend to me! Love the mug! Rudolf is one of my faves as well!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend!! Enjoy every day of this magical time of year.
ReplyDeleteI always feel so much joy from your posts.
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo! What a lovely, cozy weekend. You are right - we don't need to do "all the things" to have a great holiday. Slowing down and savoring the wonderul holiday moments brings the most joy. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteThose are some nice little sweaters the pups are wearing...Dogs be like "Why mommy, why you do this to us?!"
ReplyDeleteThe soup looks awesome! Can we have the recipe? I love all of your photos. The tree is big, fat, and beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a wonderful weekend! Is there anything better than Thanksgiving leftovers? Almost better than the meal itself. 😉 And a tree lighting in the town square - like what?!? So Gilmore Girls - how dreamy!! Love it! And agree so much about not trying to do and be all. It's wonderful to just take it the season and live in the moment. Going to try to get lots of those little moments in too. Blessings on December ahead. xoxo
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Billie Jo. The soup looks so good...we have had a big chill in the air and this would be so yummy. Such a beautiful tree in the center of town...I can just imagine the Hallmark fun going on around the lighting of the tree. Looking forward to seeing what all you are planning for the month of Christmas...I know it will all be loaded with special things...and hot chocolate....
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to plan ahead....I need to do the same thing.
I LOVE your Advent wreath!! What a perfectly cozy weekend! Did the town have a Miss Patty though? That's my big question. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the perfect weekend and a great way to transition into December.
ReplyDeleteWe watched some old Christmas movies this weekend which brought back memories - The Muppets Christmas Carol for one. :)
Your tree lighting sounds like so much fun!
I love your focus on family. So wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to have been in your own real-life Hallmark movie:) Sounds like the perfect start to "all things Christmas"!! Happy Monday to you!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend to me! I love your Rudolph mugs! So nostalgic! The tree lighting looks like so much fun! Our town does a very similar one, but it got rained out this year. Boo! But our downtown is all decked out in lights and it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to start the festive season. Xx
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed hearing about how you celebrated through the weekend. I managed to catch a bug of some sort last Tuesday and haven't had a voice, I have a sore throat and cough all week, but the kids made me take part in everything all week anyway. They went home to London on Saturday and I've been down for the count ever since. No holiday decor yet, just lots of hot tea, orange juice and lemon water and time for knitting and catching up on Vlogmas on youtube for my crafting channels.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Blessings,
Betsy
A lot of beautiful and good things are happening with you. I also wish you a successful December. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! I thoroughly enjoy your posts and this one looked so festive. It does the heart good to see you enjoying your family and that tree lighting ceremony, fabulous. Sending hugs for a very happy December to you and your loved ones.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to walk downtown in Stars Hollow at Christmastime! Wouldn't that be wonderful? I'm glad you are enjoying episodes of The Gilmore Girls. Not sure if you know this, but they also have the "Seasons" episodes, and something very unexpected happens on the last episode. I remember your Rudolph mugs, they are delightful. The turkey soup looks really good, and perfect for these cold days. And the Advent candles are beautiful. Thank you, again, for your big font, Billie Jo. There's so many blogs I visit with small font. It's hard on the eyes. ; )
