Sometimes I Wonder...

...why I scrub and set out the front porch furniture before the pollen covers it in yellow every single year.

...why my cup of coffee at the little old coffee shop tastes significantly better than the one I make at home.

...why my same set of flannel sheets is considered cozy in November but unbearably stifling in May.

...why none of my prescriptions need to be refilled from the pharmacy at the same time.

I can get frustrated. I can be confused. But I can also choose to be thankful because, compared to some, these are trivial things to ponder. That thought is not lost on me. But...still. The pollen! Ugh!

On a lighter note, this little guy turned 15 yesterday!!!! Kirby is our first pup, is referred to as King, and has been in our family longer than Flynn! He is a good dog who loves his life, and although he is a bit slower than he used to be, he still can run and jump with the best of them. He worships Steve, adores Peyton, and defers to me when they aren't available. Peyton made him some pumpkin muffins for his special day like she does every year. And he knew exactly what to do!

Fifteen years ago!

  1. Happy birthday to Kirby! Why is it coffee from a place is so much better? It's almost infuriating. And yes to the everything covered in pollen! You've got to clean the winter grime but then the pollen grime isn't much better 10 minutes later it seems.

    Enjoy your day!

  2. Just what I needed today, a Kirby fix! In the second pic, he is even smiling!! What breed is he? I like the titles of the books in your header! These frustrations are all so true!

  8. Oh my word! That pup pick of Kirby - squeal!! So cute I can hardly take it. And the one of him in the car where he literally looks like he is smiling. Happy bday to him!! Love the way you ponder on all of life's "things" . Sure love the way you think. And I'm with you on thinking about Fall already. I can daydream on Fall and Christmas year round....always! ;) 🎃 🎄

  9. Love the expressions on his face. Let's talk anxiety.... Husband dies on Christmas morning, and I am still dealing with insurance bills, and accounts!!!!

  10. Happy Birthday to Kirby!! He looks like he's smiling in that car photo. Very sweet doggy. ❤️ // I sure understand the prescription frustration. I have to handle prescriptions throughout the month for hubby and I because there are several for each of us. Just can't seem to get them all on the same day. Arg! // I'm the one who can't syand cold, so don't like the last of autumn and barely crawl through winter. I live for spring and the heat of summer. I dream of gardening, seeds, plants, and lotsa heat. LOL!

  11. Oh Kirby is adorable...and pumpkin muffins, how wonderful, what a treat! I LOVE Halloween...not the icky, scary stuff, but the pumpkin carving, sweater weather, brisk air, and bonfire stuff!! It's been like fall here this week...cold winds from the north and a freeze warning tonight. Is it too much to ask for summer highs to only be, say, 70?

Agreed...my frustration today is standing there looking at the lovely mulch I just put down, only to know that someone (I won't say who) will find the wind blowing the wrong way while mowing and it will be covered with grass. Yes, a small thing in the scheme of life, like the pollen and freshly washed patio furniture, but alas...for one day, it looks delightful. Hope all is well, thanks so much for taking the time to post, I look forward to it!

  12. Adorable Kirby and Happy Birthday to him- and hugs. I was given a prescription yesterday for something to clean my implants with and could be taken to any pharmacy. We have to go to CVS pharmacy and I hadn't planned on go to that city. I wanted to go to a different city for to get pizza and gas and then go home. I gave my husband the RX and he dropped it off at the pharmacy and will pick it up tomorrow. He works close to that area anyway. We had to stop there and wait a bit after I had my oral surgery. There is a lot of pollen in our area as well. I've been having coughing issues lately, especially when I drove through town on way home....interesting! I hope you continue to breath and survive thru the high pollen time. Hugs and blessings, Becky

  13. Happy birthday wishes to Kirby! The pup picture of him is so precious. I had to chuckle about your pollen observation, Billie Jo. I have stopped wiping or washing it down. Now, I don't sit out there until pollen season is history because it was getting wiped down several times a day. Why does coffee taste better when my husband makes it? Have a wonderful Thursday!

  14. This post made me giggle :) I always wonder random things like this, such as why does a tuna sandwich at a deli taste good, but I wouldn't think of making one at home. And in relation to the sheets...why does 70 on the thermostat feel wonderful in the summer, but cold in the winter?

And our little Banjo is going on 13 years old and we've noticed he is now hard of hearing and developing cataracts. He's turning into a little old man-dog. Kirby is adorable :)

    1. Debbie that's so funny - I think the exact same about the thermostat - and the exact opposite about the tuna! Love tuna at home - won't order it out ;)

  15. aahh, Happy Birthday Kirby! Looks like he's smiling in the car hehehe. Yes, the cup of coffee at the old coffee shop does seem to taste better than the one we make at home. There's just something about the Fall season, right? Such a cozy time. And I tend to watch Christmas shows all year long. These are wonderful photos of Kirby through the years. Peyton's pumpkin muffins sound Yummy!
