Monday Morning Cozy

Good Monday Morning, my friends. It is a blustery cold day here in Pennsylvania. The lake is starting to freeze outside, making it look more like January than October. We stayed put this past weekend because of the cold, icy weather and a poor young man who came down with Influenza on Thursday. However, we had plenty to do, and I am happy to report that most of it got done.

First up. Packing away Christmas. It always amazes me how quickly our home can go from festive, cozy Christmas to uncluttered, cozy winter. I was sad to pack it away. I always am. Next year I am decorating earlier. Remind me of that, please.

Flynn and I watched this last night. It was good! If you are a Liam Neeson fan, you won't be disappointed. I believe it is streaming on Amazon Prime.

I found most of the ingredients for this delicious Asian Noodle Soup on hand Friday afternoon, and with Rhett not feeling well, I made a huge pot for dinner. It was delicious and hit the spot on a cold winter night. The recipe is right HERE if you would like to try it. I didn't have all the vegetables, but I think that was just fine with everyone!

We also watched a beautiful mass online. I am so thankful to our friend and pastor, Fr. Ross, for making it available and allowing those who can't or aren't ready to attend in-person to participate in weekly mass. What else? Oh yes. Football. And the almost unbelievable way the Steelers managed to sneak into the playoffs! Ben can't hang up his helmet just yet.

Well, that is about all, my friends. Today brings school with Flynn, shredded chicken in the crockpot for dinner, and hopefully some relief for my patient, Rhett. If you are interested, I found a great explanation of the daily stages of the flu. Rhett has literally followed this exactly! It is a good resource, especially now when every sneeze brings fear of Covid. I will link it right HERE.

Stay happy and healthy. And cozy. Always cozy.

Billie Jo

  1. Happy Monday to you. I always am a bit sad taking the decorations down as well. That soup looks very similar to one I make with chicken. Soup always makes you feel a little better in the winter, especially if you aren't feeling well. I hope he is on the mend and no one else comes down with it. Have a great week.

  2. Sorry sickness has found its way to your house. Hope Rhett feels better. Definitely going to check out the Liam Neeson movie. I watched the end of the Steelers game and cheered them on. Glad Ben will get to play his last game here in KC ;) Hope you have a great week!

  3. The soup looks delicious! Thank you for sharing. Your house always looks so cozy and nice. It is wonderful when they put the services up online for just those times. I am glad to have ours for when it is needed as well. Such is the times now for sure.

  8. Happy new week dear Friend. It was been so cold here too! I hope Rhett feels better soon and that you all stay healthy. Between the cold, flu and covid - sickness seems everywhere these days!!
Congrats to your Steelers too! The Pack has been doing well and it's so fun to see where it will all go. 😊
Stay cozy and have a blessed week ahead. xo

  9. It is always so nice to see a post from you. Sorry about the flu visiting your home.
I, too, packed Christmas away yesterday and am enjoying the 'clean' look for a bit. We are Packer crazy here and were sad to lose to Detroit on Sunday but we are still doing well and headed to playoffs.
Have a wonderful week, Billie Jo! xo Diana

  10. Hi Billie Jo. I hope Rhett is feeling much better soon. Yes, it is a little sad when the holidays are over, but it is nice to get everything put away and start "cozy and uncluttered" in the new year. Your home always looks great - decorated or not. That soup looks so delicious. Hope you have a great week. See you again soon!

  11. That soup looks fantastic Billie Jo!! It sure is cold here in PA! I am near Pittsburgh and I am already done with winter - ha! Super happy about that Steeler game on Sunday also! It is unreal that the team always takes the win right down to the last second! What a nail biter!! I also get super sad to take down Christmas but I love my minimal décor - less dusting to do! LOL! Have a great week! HUGS

  12. Soup is so good when it's cold and someone is ill. Your Asian soup sure fits the bill. I do hope your young man is feeling much better soon!
I'm usually happy to take down Christmas, but this year seemed to whiz by too quickly. Without electricity we were unable to enjoy the last days of a lit Christmas tree.

  13. It's for me to take the decorations down. It does feel good to have a less cluttered house, but I'm missing the lights and the festive air. I actually strung up some twinkle lights in my den and that seems to help.

  14. I hate having the flu. I've only had it twice but it was just plain misery both times. We wear our masks every time we're out so we hope to avoid getting a cold or the flu. And of course the dreaded virus. I sure hope Rhett feels better. That Asian soup looks delicious. Today was spinach pasta w/ chicken, steamed carrots, a salad and garlic toast. We're keeping our small tree up for awhile longer. We can't bear to put it away just yet. Our niece is happy that her team is going to the playoffs. She is a huge Big Ben fan and that's her team.

  15. Hi Billie Jo. I'm so sorry to hear your son is sick and pray he makes a very speedy recovery. Praying that everyone else in the house stays healthy and well, too. All of our Christmas decorations have come down although I've left a few strands of cozy fairy lights for the winter. Your soup looks really good. I'm feeling lazy tonight so I think we'll order takeout pizza. Take care, my friend.

  16. I hope Rhett is feeling better with the flu. He sure has someone special taking care of him. Your Asian Noodle Soup looks so good. I've been eating lots of soups lately, cause it's very cold here this Winter. I'll have to mention this show to my son, as he likes watching different movies. I've always liked Liam Neeson as an actor. It's nice you got all your Christmas stuff packed away, and I always miss it too. Jess is still hanging on to it and doesn't want to see it go. I totally understand, as it brings us such peace and love and coziness in our home, but your home always looks so warm and cozy to me all year.
