What I Wore The First Day Of Fall

I've waited for it. I've dreamed of it. And last weekend it finally arrived. Fall! And wouldn't you know it, the weather was perfect! Crisp and cool, and perfectly fall like. Fortunately, we had somewhere to go, and I had the perfect outfit to usher in this most lovely of seasons.

What I Wore Saturday Night

Saturday night means many things to many people. For me it means real clothes and makeup. Sometimes I get it together early enough to convince a less-than-willing family member to take a few awkward photos of me to document the occasion.

Hmmm. Little bright.

What I Wore Saturday Night

Last Saturday night we went to a super fun surprise 60th birthday party for Steve's brother Mark. His wife and children planned and hosted it at their home, and it was perfect. And his brother was totally surprised! Anyway, because I was all dressed and sort of put together, I thought I would ask Steve to take a few pictures for a fashion post. If there is one thing I feel super comfortable about, it is posting about fashion. (Insert sarcastic look here.)

This outfit is so comfortable, and perfect for a warm summer evening outside.
And the sandals? The most comfy ever.

The blouse is very breathable and light, and the shorts have stretch!
But they don't get baggie.
If you know what I mean. : )

Blouse: Grand & Greene from T. J. Maxx
Size: Large

Shorts: Nautica from T. J. Maxx
Size 12

Sandals: taos from The Walking Company

Bag: Dooney & Bourke

Sunglasses: Vogue from Sears

There you are.
A fashion post from a woman whose entire wardrobe is 75% loungewear and pajamas.

Thanks for hanging in there, my friends!

What I Wore...Saturday Night

I thought I would do a few of these "fashion" posts while Madison is still here. Because. Help. Anyway, Saturday night I felt like I had it pretty much together, so she took some quick pictures in-between downpours, before we headed  out to Mass and dinner.

I always keep it real here.
I threw this outfit together in five minutes.
That is easy to do that when you keep a few favorite staple pieces handy.
And when you love neutrals. : )

Can you tell how obviously awkward I felt during this one?

There. That's better.
I love these linen pants!
They are so comfy!
And so forgiving.

Ok. All done!

Pants: Just Living from T. J. Maxx
Size: Medium

Tank Top: Gap
Size: Large

Sweater: Loft
Size: Medium

Sandals: Dansko from The Walking Company

Bag: Guess

Sunglasses: T. J. Maxx

Not pictured: My favorite sandals ever, left behind on the ship.
Along with a suitcase.
Don't ask.

What I Wore...Embarkation Day, Cruise 2017

Hello, my friends! We are back from our cruise, and it was wonderful! I am sorting through and editing pictures, so in the meantime I am sharing a fashion post with you. Crazy, right? Because if there is one thing I am most uncomfortable with...it's fashion. But my Madison snapped some pictures of me the day we set off on our adventure, and encouraged me to put a post together. So here we go...

I do like to dress nicely on travel days.
I have found that if I dress better, I tend to feel better.
That being said, I strive to keep it real here, so I must admit, I chose this dress mainly because it is so comfy! I wore the shoes because they are hard to pack, and easy to slip off in the car! : )

The dress can be worn up on the shoulders too.
But I figured, when else would I wear them off the shoulders if not on a cruise?!?!

I love this bag!
It is big enough to carry all my travel necessities, but not bulky at all.
What was inside?
I didn't take a purse, so I had a wristlet with my driver's license and credit cards inside.
I also put some hand wipes, mints, a small makeup bag, my book, our travel documents, my phone and charger, and tissues inside.
You know, all the essentials.

And there you go...
Another fashion post from someone who really has no business doing one. : )

Dress: Tommy Hilfiger from Macy's
Size: Large
(On Sale now for  $34.93!!!)

Shoes: Loft

Bag: Vintage Addiction from Zulily

Sunglasses: T. J. Maxx

Awkward Pose: Free

Another Fashion Post

Also known as..."What I Wear When I Actually Get Dressed To Leave The House For An Extended Period Of Time In February, And It Is Sixty Five Degrees Outside". But seriously, as much as I was happy to have a warmer day, I wasn't quite ready to think about where I had put my lighter clothes. Our mudroom currently houses an assortment of various boots, winter shoes, hoodies, and winter coats. For the past four months or so, when we leave the house, we grab a coat, throw on some boots and head out the door.

What to do when it is still mid winter in Pennsylvania, but feels more like April or May?? Situations like this always throw me off. I have to think too much! So, I did what I thought would work. I compromised. I grabbed a lighter sweater from my closet, but also wore my boots. I guess it worked out alright. I really am not the best person to ask about fashion. I am all about neutral colors, one or two pair of pants and a couple pair of jeans. I like sweaters over tanks or blouses...thank you midlife...and I have no interest in shoes! I honestly had the same pair of black slip-ons for at least six or seven summers. I suppose I collect books like some collect shoes and bags. Do what you do, right?!

In any case, this is what the fashion challenged me ended up with on a random Saturday in February...

So this is on our driveway...
Where it windy...
And right before Rhett reminded me I wasn't a model.  : )

Maybe this would be better.
Outside a bit later.
Annnnd.
Maybe not.
But for the record:
Sweater-Gap Size L
Black Blouse- Loft Size L
Jeans-Loft Size 10
Boots-Macy's Size 8
Bag- Dooney and Bourke

I love the sweater because it is light and comfortable.
The blouse is a favorite because. Black.
Slimming and all.
But really, it does hide a great deal. : )
The jeans are THE MOST COMFORTABLE jeans ever.
They give, but not so much that they stretch out.
The boots are fun. Not the most comfortable.
And the Bag?
Love.
It was a gift from Steve.
I like to think of it as an all season bag.
Anyway, there you have it.
And yes.
I'm already in my pajamas as I type. : )

A Fashion Post? What?

I know. I know. Let's list all the things I might post about before I do a post on Fashion, shall we?
  1. Coffee
  2. Tea
  3. Candles
  4. Holidays
  5. Halloween
  6. Fall
  7. Food
  8. Food
  9. More food
  10. My children
  11. My children's school
  12. Pajamas
  13. The weather
But, one recent Saturday night, I actually felt I had it all together and why not document such a momentous occasion? Excuse the awkwardness that seems to result from Madison being on the other side of the ocean. When I'm on my own, the struggle is real. Trust me.

Ok, so here we go. On our way to Mass, I noticed that my bag matched my sweater perfectly, and my new jeans were feeling pretty good. I even had make up on. Winning! So after Mass, I asked begged Rhett to take a few pictures . He responded with, "Mom. You are not going to put this on the blog, are you?!?!?" So of course, I am! : )

Ok. So maybe he was right.
No going back now!
Super comfy but dressy enough for Saturday afternoon Mass..

The sweater is super comfy and roomy.
I hate feeling tight in a sweater!
It is a belldini brand I picked up at T.J. Maxx. I'm wearing a size Large.
We keep it real here, folks.
It may look red, but it is actually more of a burnt orange.
The tank is one of my staple pieces.
It is a tank from Gap, size Large.

Love this necklace!
I actually found this as I was shopping for Flynn on Zulily.

Perhaps my favorite bag. Ever.
Steve found this for me last summer in Las Vegas.
It's a Dooney & Bourke bag and it was on sale!!!!
And it has Leaves on it!
And I love it!

The jeans are super comfy too.
They are Lucky Brand and I found them at T.J. Maxx too!
These are a size 10..
But I may have been able to get away with an 8 because they stretch...you know?
And the sandals?
Yes. October. And Sandals.
I just cant part with them.
They are Dansko brand and they are sooo comfortable.
I purchased them in Las Vegas at The Walking Company.

Ok. That's it!
That's my very first and most likely last Fashion post!
Because let's face it.
One should write about what one knows.
Coffee, books, holidays...I've got you covered.
Fashion? Not so much.
In any case, it is a favorite outfit that I am sure I will be wearing often.
And I am just as sure I will be changing into my jammies as quickly as I can. : )

Keepin' It Real...I Lost Track Of How Many Edition

Here we go with another Keepin' It Real post. You know...the ones where I share some of the mundane true facts of my life, and hope you all like me anyway. ; )

Oh...and first of all...these quality pictures were all taken with my phone because I was too lazy to go downstairs and get my camera.

So...I am extremely fashion challenged. For real. I wear almost the same thing every single day. Because I like it. I have always loved black and khaki and beige. And that's about it.

Here is a look inside my closet. See all the neutrals?
Any bursts of color I may wear are most likely gifts, and are chosen only when my Madison decides to give me one of her "What Not To Wear" makeovers.

And my pants...jeans, black, and khaki...because I like to blend in.

And here I am sporting my daily uniform...black shirt...

and jeans. Ahhhh comfort...

While we are at it...here is what you will find me in by 4:00 in the afternoon these days. I love when it gets dark early...cozy evenings inside call for cozy jammies, right?

Now I'm off to enjoy a piece of this...for breakfast. Because we are keepin' it real here, and the truth is, I love my sweets!

Thanks for visiting, friends!
