Good Monday morning, my friends. I hope you had a lovely January weekend and are ready for a brand-new week.
I was up earlier than usual today. Random fact about me: I cannot be awake in bed. When I wake up, I'm up. Today, I was up and cozy on the couch with my coffee before the sun woke. It was quiet and comfy. I sipped my hot coffee, said my prayers, and read the news. Just a bit because while I think it is the responsible adult thing to be familiar with current events, I also know too much of the negative is too much for me. So there's that.
I went through some pictures from the weekend and this is what I found. Peyton and Christopher had fun sledding and skiing this weekend. I am so happy for the outdoorsy people. Last winter, they could not do all the snow stuff because there was no snow!
Rhett and Kyrstin shared this picture from their date night last week. My boy looks so grown up all of a sudden. Wasn't he just watching movies on a portable DVD player and riding his Green Machine up and down the driveway?
All three pups had a trip to the Puppy Spa last week. We don't say Groomer because Spa sounds less traumatic for them...and they all came out fresh and clean with glowing reports!
Perhaps the most exciting and happy thing that happened was this!
Nicolas' father, Peter, came for a visit! Nicolas is from the beautiful country of Denmark, and his father was in the States on business, so they worked out some flights, and Peter was able to spend some time visiting. I was so happy for them both and for Madison as well. We all went to dinner Saturday night and had the most wonderful time.
Today, we will homeschool, light candles, fix a cozy dinner, and sip coffee and tea. We will make beds, fold laundry, and call loved ones. We will wipe kitchen counters, turn off the lights, and settle down together for an episode or two of Seinfeld. It will be a typical, beautiful January day. Enjoy your January day, my friends!

Google for the cozy.
From your words and your photos, it is great to see that you all had a wonderful January weekend. Your three fur babies capture my heart every time I see their cute photos. What a wonderful weekend for Nicolas and his dad to see one another and what a great thing that you all were able to spend time at dinner together. I enjoy visiting here because your post are always so warm and I love the thoughts of sipping on hot tea. Enjoy your wonderful Monday....
ReplyDeleteLove catching up with your dear Friend. Your weekend looked and sounded extra cozy! How lovely for Nicholas to get time with his Dad here. We finally got some much needed snow too. Hopefully it sticks around for a while. Blessings on your week - hope it's extra relaxing and cozy. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun that Peyton got to go sledding. I used to go snowmobiling back in the day, and it was such fun. Your pups look all clean and groomed. That's a cute picture of Madison, and the meal looks delicious. And I love that last quote and picture. January is, indeed, a still month.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your prayers for the fires in So Cal. They are still blazing, and prayers are so important right now. I also loved the pictures of the snow at the beach on your last post. I've never seen snow at the ocean before, so it was really interesting to see.
I hope the new year is being good to you, my friend.

I love the last quote. I am reading Wintering right now and enjoying it. It started out slow but picks up quickly. Stay warm my friend.
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm so happy that Nicholas got to see his father! I know he must miss his family back in Denmark so much. Glad y'all could enjoy a meal together. Your plans for the day sound wonderful! And I'm like you, once I am up, I'm up! Haha! The pups look so sweet after their spa day! Hope your Monday is great!
ReplyDeleteAh, you have lovely plans for your Monday!! Do enjoy. And I am with you - gotta get out of bed if I'm awake! A friend told me last week how she enjoyed her perfect day. In bed surrounded with her computer, her books, her yarn, etc. All lovely but she never got out of the bed. Not my idea of great day - lol! We're all different, right?:)
ReplyDeleteI love your posts and how you spend your days. I jump around doing all kinds of odd things when I'm stuck inside all day. But it's nice to have a day to get caught up! Monday hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHow special to have that time with Nicholas' dad! I'm sure that was a joy for Nicholas.
ReplyDeletePS - that's such a nice picture of you on your sidebar.
My day will mimic yours. My homeschooling days are behind me, I've had my cup of tea, dinner is in the crock pot and you've inspired me to light a candle. Thankful that Nicholas and his dad were able to coordinate a visit. It would have been sad to be so close and unable to connect.
ReplyDeleteI love these last quotes! what a wonderful visit they had. The pups look awesome!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Your puppies look so good after a day at the 'spa.' :) Your early morning looks so cozy. I can stay in bed. Every once in a while I get to sleep in and I will lay there thanking the Lord for another day, for my family, I'll think about what I want to accomplish that day and I s-t-r-e-t-c-h! It feels so good! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the quote and the way you make normal activities sound so cozy. Thank you for that perspective. I hope you have a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteNothing better than seeing photos of your family smiling and happy. The doggies look so sweet after their spa treatments. How nice to have a special visitor all the way from Denmark!
ReplyDeleteA lovely post!
ReplyDeleteA nice and cozy picture you paint. Once I am up I too am up. Usually because I am hungry.
ReplyDelete"The power of rest and retreat in difficult times." What an interesting thought. I like it. I need to embrace it.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for Nicholas that he o able to spend time with his dad... and that you all were able to have a wonderful meal together.
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo! What a wonderful, cozy weekend you had! Your pups look so fluffy and cute. It's great that Nicholas could see his dad over the weekend. That's a great picture of Rhett and Kyrstin. I hope you have a great week! See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm like you in that I can't lay around in bed either.
ReplyDeleteStay cozy! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love your quotes at the end of your post. Wintertime perfection!
ReplyDeleteI also love how you love your family!
It is always a nice visit here with you! I love the photos and how great to get that visit from Nicholas' dad. Awesome. Have a blessed week!!
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo! I'm late visiting tonight. I had a goal to finish a sweater I have been knitting since the 2nd of January. I JUST sewed in the last yarn ends. It's a gift for a dear friend and I had wanted to get it in the mail tomorrow but I'm afraid it will be Wednesday. I still need to wash it and take a photo for "the blog". :-) So, I'm just now settling down with the computer to see what all of my friends are up to.
ReplyDeleteI loved catching up with your kids. I feel the same about mine and my oldest will be 45 next Monday! How in the world did that happen? I'm so glad Peter was able to visit Nicholas. That's so important. We're trying to find a time when we can go visit our London kids this year. Trying to match theirs and our schedules aren't easy. Alex is flying to Japan Wednesday for a few weeks and then they are all going back to Japan at the end of March. We've committed ourselves to several camping trips with friends this summer already. Reservations are made and itineraries being developed. One place we intend to go with cousins is Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. Dennis was there as a child but not me.
Okay, I've bored you enough although you're probably already in bed like a normal person. Ha!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Nonsense, no one is bored and your news is the most exciting I've seen in years.
DeleteHow nice that your daughter's father in law is visiting from Denmark, I assume he is there regarding the flap about Trump taking over Greenland soon.
ReplyDeleteHow fun that Nicholas was able to see his father.
