Good Friday morning, friends. So, it's cold and snowy. The wintry weather appears to have followed us down from Pennsylvania because it knows how much I miss it. How considerate, considering it has been years since this area has seen measurable snow. That and the lack of snow shovels and plow trucks. While the roads are icy and the air is cold, the beach sure is beautiful. Rhett and Kyrstin sent us these pictures, and I applaud them for braving the frigid air and sharing their beauty with us.
Meanwhile, this week was back to homeschooling for my student and me. Flynn and I are currently studying Emily Dickinson's poetry, algebric equations and expressions, World and American history during the 1800's, cell division, and the works of William Shakespeare. We enjoy our time together, and her love of science balances my love of literature. We get extra students casually joining us occasionally, especially Flynn's dog, Marty. Who sometimes reminds me of Fozzie Bear.
Between homeschooling and fixing dinner, you can find me with my afternoon coffee and a few of my friends.
( Note the classy black sweatpants, oversized crewneck, and Halloween socks. I make it a point to put myself together every day, regardless of my plans. Clearly, this day was a smashing success. )
A favorite meal this week was ground Beef and Rice Tacos. They came together quickly and were so good. Just brown some ground beef, drain it, and add taco seasoning and salsa. Make some rice—get a rice cooker if you don't already have one—and then add any toppings you want. Cilantro and lime are my favorites.
We are expecting more snow this weekend. On Saturday night, we plan on going to mass and dinner out, and on Sunday, we will spend the day cozy inside. I will be praying for all those affected by the horrible wildfires, the victims of the recent hurricanes, and any homeless people during this frigid time of year.
Have a cozy weekend, my friends. Thank you for visiting.
Billie Jo
Oh my! I've never seen a beach with snow. How beautiful although I shivered as I looked at the photos.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes Marty does look like Fozzie Bear! How adorable he is.
I remember those days of homeschooling my youngest. I think I learned as much as he did!
Have a warm and safe weekend.
You paint such a beautiful picture of a cozy home. All of your fur babies just add to that picture. That IS an amazing resemblence to Fozzie Bear. Such a little sweetie. I don't think I've ever seen snow right up to the ocean before. Thank you so much for sharing these with us.
ReplyDeleteBlessigs,
Betsy
The snow on the beach is so beautiful! I've never seen anything like it.
ReplyDeleteYour extra 'students' are just adorable. I'm sure they make for a lively classroom.
Stay warm this weekend!
Marty could be a cousin of Fozzie Bear!! So cute!! Your taco and rice dinner looks delicious! Stay warm and safe up there!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my....that Marty is such a cutie. Perhaps he considers himself as a student as well. I honestly do not think I have ever seen snow on a beach...Makes for a Beautiful view. Very interesting. I always feel warm and cozy when I visit here. Happy Weekend..
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the pictures of the wintry beach that your son took. It has been forever (okay not forever, but probably since I was 7 or 8) when I last saw snow on the beach. Now, there is a name (Fozzie Bear) that I haven't heard in a while. And Marty does look like him. Have a wonderful weekend, stay warm, and be safe.
ReplyDeleteYes, smashing outfit:) Love it! I don't think I have ever seen snow on the beach. Obviously, it snows on the beach (somewhere...some time) but you don't usually put those two together and I think this is the first time I have seen the photo proof! So cool!! (pun not intended!) Happy Friday to you!
ReplyDeleteYour fashion sense it amazing, as I sit here in old second hand Dansko clogs, green bib overalls that need to be hemmed so they are rolled up. Don't know anyone who can hem them. My green turtleneck I bought at Walmart for 1.00, and a pair of stripe socks that Sissie gave me. We are stylin....
ReplyDeleteLove all of the beach pictures. We have a winter wonderland here also. It's been sleeting, snowing off and on all week. Today it is snowing heavy, and I'm cozy at home. Love the fashion statement as I look a little similar right now. Enjoy your weekend my friend.
ReplyDeleteThose poor souls in California are going to need more than prayers, there hasn't been enough water for the fire hydrants because the governor won't use water sources inhabited by little smelt fish. Not to mention Mayor Bass defunded the department to the tune of millions of dollars. Money allocated for gay choir groups, trans coffee shops and illegal migrants. People need to be a bit more careful how they vote next time around, although it might be too late since these fires seem to be surrounding LA from more than one side.
ReplyDeleteWow...the pictures from Rhett are amazing! That's such a contrast...all of the snow right on the beach!
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures of your extra students and especially the one of you and your afternoon friends all tucked away safe and cozy on the sofa. :) Love the Halloween socks!
Stay safe and warm this weekend, my sweet friend. xx
Oh my gosh, you are SO cute!!! And you always choose such awesome lounging clothes! They are cool, whimsical, and pretty. Plus you always look so positive and upbeat!! I wish I was sitting with you both for this lesson, it sounds so good. I always loved Englis Lit, it was my favorite subject. any kind of poetry or literature. The beach is desolate, bleak, and lovely!
ReplyDeleteThere is a certain beauty in a dark and snowy beach! It's snowing here too and our son in KY is also being hit with cold and snow. He usually taunts with texts about nice weather when we are having storms, but this time they got it too.
ReplyDeleteYour classes sound good. I love literature. And - I think you are looking cute!
I don't think I've ever seen snow on a sandy beach before! That is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe have snow every day but it is mild too, around zero Celsius. Cozy time inside is lovely this time of year!
ReplyDeleteSnow on the beach...amazing! Looks super cold, though! Glad you and Flynn are back in your routine and enjoying her studies. Your extra student is super cute, too! He does look like Fozzy Bear! Haha! I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful cozy post, love the fur babies, and snow on the beach is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh Billie Jo you crack me up - so much to say! First, “snow on the beach”- love the Taylor reference! Second, sweats - crewneck - fuzzy socks are perfectly perfect cozy winter time attire! (Right now I am sporting the same). Dinner looks great, a quick and easy meal - thanks for sharing the idea. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have never ever seen snow on the beach, wow. Wishing you a beautiful day my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! I've never seen snow on the beach before. It must be incredibly cold. We've had a chilly time of it here, but it's beginning to thaw now. Xx
ReplyDeleteYour outfit sounds perfectly cozy to me! That is an incredible picture of the snow at the beach. I'm so glad you shared it with us.
ReplyDeleteYou are a fashion queen! I wear a revolving uniform of black yoga pants or fleece lined leggings, b long sleeved v-necks and sweaters with a scarf thrown in. Fancy.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what gorgeous photos to see the snow and the beach and Rhett and Kyrstin enjoying it but have to say I would have been safely tucked up with a hot drink and a throw rug wrapped around me :) You describe a lovely picture of homeschooling with Flynn, and touch on many of the subjects I would have loved learning at school. Now I enjoy at my own pace whatever pops up that interests me. Your friends make sweet companions and I love your cozy style. Those beef and rice tacos look great, I am going to have to try that. I am praying for all those you have mentioned. They certainly need all our prayers. Thank you my friend for another lovely post.
ReplyDeleteThose are great beach pictures. Like others above, I've never seen snow on the beach (in person or in pictures). Hub cleared a bit of snow yesterday, but I've been tucked in all weekend, and hopefully, I can continue that plan through tomorrow. Then it's out in the world I must go. Fortunately, it looks like we're going to warm up a bit before the next deep freeze. Stay warm!
ReplyDeletePrayers for your Mom and the family. Thank you for sharing her with us. She was a sweetheart .
