Monday Morning Coffee

Good Monday morning, my friends! I hope your coffee (or tea) is extra hot today! We are still hacking like crazy dealing with a beast of a chest cold here, and of course, it has been kind enough to give each of us a few days in the spotlight before moving on to the next victim person. At times like these, I am thankful for many things, among them, readily available hot water and Vicks Shower Soothers, my comfy set of The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown flannel sheets, puppies who like to snuggle, plastic cups with straws, and family members who deliver food and medicine at a moment's notice. I have cleared our calendar for this week, calling and rescheduling appointments and plans because I would not want to expose anyone to sickness if I can avoid it.

The weekend was not all coughing and sleeping, though. I witnessed a true feat of determination from my very own couch. This little guy was not giving up, I tell you!

I was also treated to this most beautiful reminder that God is always with us...

Beautiful, right???

Finally, I must share this surprisingly delicious little coffee cake I found.

It is a peanut butter coffee cake. Want a closer look?

There you are! And it is delicious!

I, of course, want to share the recipe with you.

Yep! I found it at Walmart and was skeptical. But it is actually very easy and very good! I did add a few mini chocolate chips myself, but otherwise, I followed the directions on the box. And now I am going to have a little piece with another cup of coffee.

Have a wonderful day, my friends. Stay safe and cozy, happy and healthy. And if you watch The Bachelor, enjoy the finale tonight! I am going to watch it with my friend Heather, and she isn't free until Thursday, so I am going to avoid all info until then!

Thanks for visiting!

Billie Jo

  3. I'm so sorry your still sick over there! Hope you start to feel better soon. I can admire the determination of the squirrels but still wish they'd leave the bird food alone. The coffee cake looks delicious, that would probably be a hit around here. And beautiful rainbow! Hope you have a happy, healthier week!

  10. Sorry to hear everyone's been sick. Eucalyptus oil also works wonder. A few drops in the shower, your pillow or even a handkerchief you can breathe into.
I have had no coffee in 6 days.. I am really looking forward to a cup. Just 24 more days to go.

  11. I feel for you, Billie Jo! I've been battling a plethora of illness (of one sort or another) since early November. Alas, I think that I am, finally, on the backside of it and am feeling much better! I pray that you can say the same before the week is over! One thing that I have found absolutely invaluable (I mean even during the first round of full-blown COVID back in 2021) is NOW Brand Eucalyptus Oil in a diffuser. My poor little diffuser has, at times, run for months on end delivering the healing vapors into the air, loosening crud, and keeping my airways open. There have been times that I honestly don't think I would have survived without it. Don't know if you've ever tried it, but it sure helps me. Thinking of you and praying health and healing over you and your family! Blessings Dear Girl!

  13. Dearest Billie Jo,
Hoping that you soon will feel much better!
Well, drinking lots of water I have to and also follow up.
Coffee or chocolate is no longer on my list due to its high potassium levels that harm my kidneys further...
But life goes on with the memory of the good times! No sugar since 2007 so desserts are not on my list either.
Still love making them for others that still can enjoy them!
Oh, those rascal squirrels they are fun to watch.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  16. I am glad you are feeling better. My daughter used Robitussin elderberry cough syrup for awhile. She is feeling better now. I like the thieves household cleaner, thieves essential oils and a few other eo in a diffuser is a good use in bedroom or other places in house we aren't feeling good. Thieves chest rub has no petroleum in it (petroleum not good for your body. We aren't a vehicle!! :- |) Just a thought. I had a good day and not at work til Thursday. The squirrel photos made me laugh and I liked the rainbows!!! Hugs and blessings!!

  20. I hate that you're all getting a taste of the dreaded cold. I'm living on Claritin around here, due to the pollen that is covering everything. Great pictures of the squirrel! We have bird feeders hung just so we can be entertained by the squirrels :) I hope you and your family recover soon. Have a cozy week :)

  22. I hope you feel better soon, and enjoy your cozy time...cancelling appointments and staying home is a nice perk of being sick, in my opinion. But I do hope you feel better soon. I love love love the rainbow, you do have a beautiful view...that squirrel, what a brat, ha.

  23. Oh, that mischievous squirrel. These are wonderful window photos, Billie Jo. I also see the squirrel every day on my lawn collecting pine nuts and such for food. The Reese's coffee cake looks Yummy. You can never go wrong with Reese's. I think adding a few chocolate chips is a good idea. And that rainbow! I got very sentimental when I saw it, as I believe that when we see a rainbow it is a gift. Thank you for the beautiful rainbow on your post today, Billie Jo. I am looking out my window, and we are buried in snow.....again! But it allows me to stay cozy in my house and have many cups of hot coffee.

Loved your post today, my friend. It was delightful. And I do hope ya'll feel better real soon.
