Monday Morning Coffee Talk

Good Monday morning, my friends! Here we are, entering the second week of March. When I was younger, March always seemed insufferably long and uneventful. Sometimes wintery, other times springlike. Now, March flies by just as every other month. I remember something my dear father used to say, "The older you get, the faster it goes!" I get it now!

This past weekend, Steve and I took a little trip to the beach. Just the two of us. It was really nice, and I highly recommend it, especially if you sometimes forget that you are not only Mom and Dad but also people who enjoy spending time together. We mainly did nothing. My favorite, right? We ordered takeout and watched movies. We went out to lunch and rode around. He took a walk, and I took a nap. And we texted all our people who were spending time together back home.

Steve made sure I had my coffee...

I discovered that shrimp tacos with pico are the best thing ever...

And the kids were excited for Peyton to finally get her Shamrock Shake!

Now we are home, back where we belong. I have my laundry sorted and my grocery list made. Flynn and I will homeschool, and I will find something to throw together for dinner. These are my happy things. It is also Monday, which means The Bachelor, but my friend Heather is coming to watch it with me tomorrow night, so I am skipping tonight.

How was your weekend? Any dinner plans for tonight?
I will be around visiting your blogs today too.
Thanks for visiting me here.
I am always thankful you do!

Billie Jo

  4. We had made plans to go camping at the Oregon coast this summer but it seems that all of our favorite campsites there are full. We haven't been to the coast in about 6 years and it's to the point that we almost NEED it. We get so revived by the sounds and smells there. It doesn't help that we're now in Nebraska and nowhere cose to the beach!
Love your coffee photos. Dennis does the same for me, except it's with my once a day die pepsi/coke. Our daughter-in-law's father has a saying, "Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes."
    Enjoy your school!
    Blessess and hugs,

  5. How wonderful that you were able to take a little weekend getaway with your husband. I'm looking forward to our anniversary trip in August. As well as going with my youngest for a Shamrock shake but we wait until St. Patrick's day as it's our tradition. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  6. Hi Billie Jo~ Sounds like you and Steve had a great time! Sometimes doing nothing together is the perfect thing to do. I always love seeing photos of your sweet kids, they always look so happy to be spending time together... and a shamrock shake sounds delicious! Getting away and then coming back home always makes me appreciate the gentle motion of an everyday life. Have a wonderful week! Hugs, Barb

  9. What a wonderful time spent with Steve. Just a short trip makes all the difference in the world. The food looks delicious. I smiled when you said, "we mainly did nothing. My favorite, right?" Sounds like me. And I was glad to know you like the snow as much as me too! What a beautiful sunset/sunrise photo. And a happy photo of all the kids. I have to say that your pictures are so charming, and I love to see the unique photos that you show of your coffee cups each week. You have the most delightful cups.

  10. Hello my Lovely!
Looks like it was a wonderful weekend. And it is important to just get that one on one time together. Love it! And it looks like your kiddos all held down the fort at home just great. ;)
It was a relaxing weekend here too. And tonight we're going to get creative somehow with leftover pork chops from last night. Lol And probably try to beat Matt in some cribbage. I have been working on fasting more for Lent - so I'll be very hungry for din din. Lol Blessings on your week ahead. xo

  12. A weekend getaway as a couple is always the best thing. You're right about March and also about how quickly these months are going by. I really wish I could homeschool my kids but that's something my husband doesn't agree with me on. Ugh. I envy you!!! Have a great week ahead.
