I Think...

My childhood was the best. Why? Well, when I was young...

We had toys that we could play with for hours and hours without getting bored.

We shopped in small stores where we knew all the people working there.

We played outside in the creek, in the yard, and on the playground until Mom called us to dinner.

We appreciated special things because we waited all year for them.

We simply picked our Halloween costumes off the shelf of the store downtown.

We had TV shows we could watch together as a family.

We ate dinner together as a family.

Life was simpler then. You knew your neighbors and the people in your neighborhood. The news was on for an hour a night. Our lives were smaller, but more peaceful and less stressful. We knew what we needed to know, and not everything that was happening everywhere all at once. It was fun. Just as childhood should be.

Happy Wednesday, my friends.

  3. This was such a fun and memory drawing post, Billie Jo. I remember bike riding, the playgrounds, walks to the neighborhood store with a nickel or dime and getting a small sack of candy (what a treat), the Good Humor truck during the summer months, and all the neighborhood moms looking out for and/or fussing at all the kids (and not just theirs).

  6. Oh this brings back so many memories!! I had that exact mask one Halloween. Lol I loved the neighborhood I grew up in - we all knew each other. We would have block parties and giant whole block water balloon & squirt gun fights. I never realized until I got older how truly blessed I was to live on such a dead end street and quiet neighborhood with such great people all around me. One of them is still a best friend today!
Sometimes I go down the tik tok wormhole of Christmas nostalgia. There are a lot of people that post neat things about that and it feels just like it used to. Thanks for the trip of memories! 💗
