Good Monday morning, my friends! Yes, I remembered to dig out my Shark Week mug, and it is all ready for the week. We had a low-key weekend here, and I am not complaining one bit. Friday afternoon, Steve realized we had some chicken to use up, so I made a quick marinade and baked it in the oven. It was raining off and on, so grilling was iffy, but it was still delicious! Flynn isn't big on potatoes, so I served it with pierogies and some steamed broccoli. Simple but good!
Saturday was stormy, but we managed to make it to mass, and then Flynn chose a favorite pizza place for dinner. It was good!
Then I went home to wash my face, do my nighttime skincare routine, and put on some fresh pajamas. Saturday nights in are my favorite! It's funny because I'm now putting on my pajamas and applying serum to my face at the same time I used to get dressed and put on makeup for a Saturday night out!
Sunday afternoon has its own vibe. This book is one of the very best I have read in a long time. It is historical fiction, and so very well written. I was so sad to come to the end. It made me want to learn more about this very young woman. Highly Recommend.
Flynn took this picture of her little pup, Marty. He is so cute, and so attached to Flynn!
Leaving you with a couple of images from Google today. The first is a reminder.
And this one reminds me of my momma. She used to sing this on days like we have had lately.
Click on that to sing along!
Happy Monday, my friends.
Thank you for visiting!
Billie Jo
Happy new week my friend! (and happy shark week! :) Your blogs always make me smile! I am going to check out that book. I think I would like it! Miss you! xx
ReplyDeleteYour comment about applying serum instead of make-up these days made me laugh. It feels like only yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet, I'm quite relieved I don't really bother going out any more. X
Happy Shark Week!! I love Saturday nights at home.
ReplyDeleteOh what delicious looking food, Billie Jo...both the chicken and the pizza. And look at that sweet face of Marty's....cutie patootie!! I have absolutely no idea what a "shark week" is so I'll have to google it. Is it the time of year when sharks are most prevalent near the shores of oceans or something? I'll have to research this. Have a good start to your week. Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnonymous is me, Billie Jo. I forgot to sign-in to Blogger before commenting. Sorry. xoxo
Deletei love the Google quote! I think we are both the slow mornings kind of people. Yes, it's funny how we both like to get in our P.J.'s and get cozy at the time we used to be going out!!
ReplyDeletePerfect song for today!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on Saturday nights. Beats getting dressed up and going out. :)
I'm checking out that book.
Awe....I enjoyed the song....Haven't heard it in a very long time. I heard just this morning that it is shark week time. Not sure I'll get to see any of it due to many appointments. Nice Sat afternoons at home are the Best....Looks like you all had such a wonderful and relaxing weekend...
ReplyDeleteLove Nat King Cole! and pierogies 😆 I’m taking your recommendation on that book. It sounds very interesting 📖.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
Mary
Have a great week Billie Jo.
ReplyDeleteDo you love the Lazy, Hazy. Crazy, Days of Summer Gilmore Episode? Cracks me up. But it likely feels extra cozy to you if that song reminds you of your mom.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the book recommendation!! Sounds like a good weekend was had and that's my favorite kind of Saturday night too!
BillieJo, your blog posts are always such a delight to read, like a pleasant break from the rest of the day. I have made note of your book recommendation. I've been reading a lot of serious stuff this summer, so I may get this one to read for a mental vacation of sorts.
ReplyDeleteI just love the cozy that always fills my heart when I visit you here dear Friend. Sounds like one of those perfect peaceful weekends. And I love that song too - makes me think of my grandparents. :) Blessings always Beautiful!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteMy Mom used to sing that in the sumertime too. She loved to sing and so do my sister and I. Your weekend sounds perfect to me. We didn't have storms but it's hot, hot, hot and very humid. I avoided being outside as much as possible. We left on our month-long camping trip this afternoon and the weather is the same here in Mitchell, SD where we're spending the night. Tomorrow we're planning to stay in Buffalo, WY and the elevation should make it high enough that we won't have the high humidity. No big plans during the trip. Just meandering our way out west to see our son and grandkids, then to Spokane to see friends and then to the Oregon coast for a few days. Nothing big, just fun.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Hi Billie Jo. I am pretty sure I have that book on my Kindle, so I will have to read that one next. Glad you had a good weekend. That pizza sure looks good, and the chicken dinner - a sure winner! Have a good week! See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteI love the pace of your summer. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you for encouraging us regularly to grasp life and enjoy it. Just a note, when I clicked on your name on my comments earlier, it didn't show your blog name.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Laura
I love pierogies! Sharks, not so much...
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute pup!
The pizza looks so yummy! I have added that book to my wish list to read. It sounds very interesting. Hope you've had a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteThat description of summer is exactly right! And that song reminds me of my mom. After she and my dad divorces, it was just me and her. She was given an organ and we would play it together. Neither of us could really play, but we had fun trying! And Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer is one of the songs we learned.
