Just For Fun!

I remember...

My Mom having this in her cupboard for quick weeknight dinners...

Watching reruns of this show with my sister Margie...

The scratchy feeling of this Barbie's outfit...

Another rerun favorite, and thinking Robbie was so gorgeous!

I remember Sunday nights and this show that my Dad loved...

Deciding which of these amazing scents to buy at the drugstore downtown...

This on the dining room table every birthday, and my Mom asking if we wanted chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or all three.

I remember thinking this soap was the absolute most amazing thing...

My Mom buying a box of these every payday, and my sisters and I being so excited...

I remember thinking this show was so scary...

And how you just knew someone was sick when this appeared...

Having an extra one of these on hand just in case...

And the yummy taste of these. But only the blue ones.

These are just a few of the many, many, many happy memories I have from my childhood. It is fun and comforting for me to go back every now and then and be that girl again, if only for a minute.

Oh...do you know the shows I watched?
The names are below!

1. Hazel
2. My Three Sons
3. Alice
4. Land of the Lost

Happy Wednesday!

  1. Oh goodness Billie Jo....you sure brought back some memories here. With each photo, I found myself saying..."I forgot about this one, OR I remember this one." So much fun to look back at all the good things long ago. What a great walk this morning into these great memories.

  2. Ooooooooh Billie Jo, you hit the nail on the proverbial head, girl!! *haha* I also remember buying the Soup Starter as a young bride too. In fact, I just did a search for it online to see if they still made it. They have similar things but not quite the same. I used to doctor up that Soup Starter with extra veggies and beef, to make it more hearty. Thank you for the walk down memory lane this morning!! Love, Andrea xoxo

  4. What a trip down memory lane, Billie Jo! Thank you! I knew the shows you shared before even reading your list at the end. I watched them all as well. Mom had that soup starter item in the cupboard, but it was usually the chicken one. We usually only had it when my Dad was out of town. Happy Wednesday!

  5. I remember every one of those except the soup starter!( my Italian mother didn't approve of those things lol) And a few years ago I bought a bag of those Charms lollipops out of nostalgia, and I keep buying them. Do you remember the original Jergens rose and almond lotion? I saw it in TJ Maxx the other day and called my aunt right then and there to tell her that when I smelled it I was instantly transported to her master bathroom when I was a kid! Something so special about olfactory memories, don't you think?

  6. Is that a Ding Dong?? That ice cream reminded when my mom would boxes of ice cream, slice them frozen, put a slice on Sara Lee pound and make baked Alaska. That was the dessert to impress. Well, it impressed us!!

  7. Those are all of my favorites too. In fact, we've named our robot vacuum cleaner Hazel! Fun memories of my childhood too.

  8. You are SO good at going down memory lane. Things I'd completely forgotten. I remember the shows other than Hazel...never watched that one? And the Slee Stack (sp?) were SO scary!! Totally agree. Lol The way you even describe the scratchy fabric of that Barbie - that's perfect and helped me remember even better. The only thing I'm not familiar with is the little foil wrapped thing? A sort of treat?
Thanks for the trip of fun memories. I enjoy them so much. xoxo

  9. What a fun trip down memory lane. I will really sound old when I say that I don't think they make tv shows like they used to. I'm sure the younger generations would think those old shows were goofy, but I loved them all.
