April Snow Showers??

Hello, my friends, on this chilly April Wednesday morning! We arrived Monday evening and were greeted by this pretty lake view as we got near our house. Yes, it was snowing. But who cares, right? April snow doesn't last. And you know me. Snowy and cold = cozy!

Cozy it was. Steve and Flynn unloaded the van, while I unloaded the dogs. We turned on the heat, ordered a pizza, and settled in for the night. Yesterday was our first appointment...

The dentist! All went well, and I am happy to report that our "Four Kids-No Cavities" streak continues! I really think it is genetics, but I also credit the fact that our kids never ate much candy. We like our chocolate, but not the typical, hard, sugary candy or sugary soda. So there's that!

Peyton and Christopher came for dinner last night, and we were so happy to see them! I had put an easy go-to recipe in the crockpot earlier in the day, and it was delicious. It's just chicken breasts seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, with some cubes of butter put in the crockpot. Then, you combine equal parts cream of chicken soup and chicken broth and pour over the chicken. I cooked it on low for about seven hours, shredded it, and then added some cooked egg noodles. I had some frozen rolls in the freezer and added some fresh green beans with avocado oil and garlic salt. It was a good, comfy meal for a cold night. After we visited by the fire, we enjoyed Peytons fantastic dessert!

That was our first day back. Thank you all for the words of support and prayers. This blogging world is a wonderful place where one can find beautiful friends from all over who understand things like anxiety over a doctor's appointment and don't judge! Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends!

  2. Hi Billie Jo! I just got home from my blood work appointment and will head off to the dentist in about an hour. Your faith and courage when it comes to doing things that are hard for you is a true example to me. Glad you are having some cozy moments before the warmer weather comes to stay! Have a great day!

  3. Your home looks very inviting. It's overcast here today too and the wind feels a bit chilly, there's some snow predicted a bit north of us but I don't think it will make it here. It makes me want to cozy up too.

  13. Your crockpot meal sounds so yummy! I understand your "white coat" syndrome as they call it now. I turn into a big baby at the dentist and most dr. appointments :) I love your lake view and how fun to have a little bit more snow to end the season.

  14. Happy Spring! We had a little snow here this week too, it was quickly gone, but still always a surprise! I completely understand about appointments – I have a couple coming up myself - necessary, but not exactly ones that I look forward to. Thanks for the recipe, that sounds so quick and easy – and those bite-size sweet treats look like they came from a bakery! Have a delightful rest of the week, if your weather is similar to ours, it’s a good one for staying in curled up.

  16. The snow just won't leave us alone! Good job with the dentist. I believe one of the best things you can do for a child's future is to give them good dental care. Poor teeth once older are not only expensive to deal with, but they change the perception the world has of you. So good teeth now is part of setting them up for success in life.

We've been enjoying some beautiful spring weather here, this last week. I think we might have seen the last of the snow. Stay cosy. Xx

  21. My parents were the same with my brother and I; no hard candy, but occasional chocolate treats. I am so glad they banned hard candy in our family. My teeth are great because of it. My husband's not so much. His family made hard candy readily available. So you see an example of cause and effect.
