This week has been spent enjoying the simple joy of Christmastime, from the light of early morning to the darkness of an early night. Nothing exciting. Nothing pressing. Just normal days with a touch of Christmas sprinkled throughout.
If you are looking for an addition to your holiday dessert menu, you may want to give this one a try. We call it Manger Cake. A dear friend gave me the recipe years ago, and the kids and I used to make it as a birthday cake for Baby Jesus. Now, Peyton makes it for us as a weeknight treat. I have posted this before, but in case you missed it, here it is. Just click on this
Have a lovely weekend, my friends!
Christmas is near!
Billie Jo
Thank you for the recipe. It does look delicious. Your Christmas tree is stunning. I absolutely love your decorating style. Mine's more of a mish-mash. The tree has 65 year old ornaments and new ones. They are every color imaginable. And yes, I still put those foil icicles on it because the kids would have a fit if I didn't.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Christmas preparations my friend.
Blessings and hugs
Betsy
Nice Christmas tree that you have. I got out our small that has lights on it. I miss having bigger one but life is a bit different than expected. The manger cake looks delicious and I'll write the recipe. I like chocolate . Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteAren't these ordinary days with a bit of Christmas sprinkled in just wonderful? I don't know when I have enjoyed a Christmas season more. Thank you for sharing the Manger Cake recipe again. I want to give it a try at some point.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tree.
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks delicious.
I like what you said about the simple joys of Christmas. We, (or at least I) often get so caught up in what I need to do, that I miss those simple joys. And all those things are really not so important.
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks good! I'm going to try it - but no walnuts for us. Looks like a winner!
Dearest Billie Jo,
ReplyDeleteYour home looks really cozy and warm for the Advent Season, awaiting Christmas.
The Manger Cake is wonderful for all those that are allowed to eat it.
Hugs,
Mariette

ReplyDeleteThat cake has always sounded so good! And I love your tree - especially the big poinsettias and bow on top! So pretty. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe manger cake looks scrumptious, especially with the whipped cream. And your tree is so lovely with the red bow on the top! I am enjoying these quiet moments too Billie Jo. It's such a special time. : )
