This is the Week In Between at our house
( Not pictured: cookie crumbs on counters, wrapping paper scraps on the floor, laundry baskets overflowing, a half-lit Christmas tree, dust bunnies galore. Oh...and a grateful mother who could ask for nothing more. )
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Billie Jo
The best part of this is the (not pictured: grateful mother!) at the end It is so beautiful that you can let the gratitude and real meaning of the season shine through even in the midst of wrapping paper scraps and overflowing laundry- which of course, are as much a part of the holidays as the cozy weather and snuggling pups! Thanks for always reminding me of the balance of wonderful blessings and messy realities in every day.
ReplyDeleteDearest Billie Jo,
ReplyDeleteIt shows a lot of contentment and that is a great achievement!
Enjoy a peaceful New Year's Eve and a Happy New Year.
Hugs,
Mariette
Each and every picture is just pure perfection for the week in-between! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat soup looks heavenly! Thank you for sharing … happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying this week in between as well. I have enjoyed some quiet mornings reading by the Christmas tree
ReplyDeleteI have the puppy.
ReplyDeleteBut she's a huge American bulldog slobbering on my cozy throw.
The soup looks wonderful. We took down the tree today and I'll redecorate with the "normal" stuff tomorrow. Our weekend is busy and so is January. I always like to have everything back to "normal" by the first of January.
ReplyDeleteI love the beauty of your post. Slow days and cozy nights.
Blessings,
Betsy
Everything looks so wonderful, especially the soup! Would you share the recipe?

The Week in Between. I love that you've given it a name. Our leftovers are all eaten, the Christmas decorations put away. Dust bunnies have been escaping (and being discovered) with all the movement of decor. But I am ready for 2024!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love how you always keep it real here and add tidbits of how life really is on the other side of the screen. I had all that here as well! What a wonderful week; I love it as well!
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo! So glad you and yours had a nice Christmas. That soup looks really delicious. Happy New Year to you all! See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteYour last comment reminded me of a favorite quote - you are spot on!!
ReplyDelete“One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don't clean it up too quickly."

It all sounds wonderful, but my favorite paragraph is the one that talks about what is not pictured. So very true in every household!
ReplyDeleteYou've captured the essence of this week so beautifully, Billie Jo. Happy New Year to you, my friend! xo
ReplyDeleteAdorable dog!!! I took a lot of photos of things I enjoyed seeing this month. I appreciate your comment I just read this morning when I was finishing my post. We have a lot of clothes to wash and will do more today as usual. Looked outside my window to see if there was sun but saw the adorable Alaskan Huskie dog in the muddy backyard. He is adorable! Happy New Year and God bless you all!!!
ReplyDeleteOooooooo my gosh. I love that mug. Love, love, love that mug.
ReplyDeleteAnd the whole vibe. Sounds PERFECT. Wishing you a Happy 2024!
Merry Christmas - have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHello Sweet Friend!!! Thank you so much for dropping by my blog. It certainly is the best week of the year! This year, my Christmas Break feels exceptionally short. I have to be back to work on Wednesday....and I'm dreading it. I see your back at the Lake House. Such a beautiful Christmas you had. I thought of you this past September when Pat and I drove home after taking Mary to college. We drove through upstate NY and then cut across PA down into Ohio to pick up I-70 back to Kansas. I'm wondering if one of these trips out East I can swing a trip to meet you for a coffee...but you living between 2 homes probably makes that more challenging! Wishing you a blessed 2024 dear friend! Val
ReplyDeleteI love the in-between week too! A time of relaxing and basking in the afterglow of all the festivities! Housework can wait! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYes it is a wonderful week, we're enjoying ours too and reminiscing about our lovely time er had over Christmas and now a new year to look forward to.. Blwyddyn Newydd Dda
ReplyDeleteWishing you a beautiful Happy New Year, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHello Billie Jo. I'm sorry that I missed this post last week. I didn't do much blog reading at all during last week. Your soup looks delicious! And I love all the things you named that weren't pictured. Kinda sounds like our house at the moment. But, little by little each thing will get taken care of, right? Happy New Year to you, my friend! xx
ReplyDeleteI always find the week in between a little unsettling. This year I tried to enjoy it though. Everyone was home and that brought me great joy!
