Monday Morning Coffee

Good morning, my friends! Look what I found at my local grocery store! It is as wonderful as I remember, especially that very first sip. I am sitting here looking outside at a beautiful, sunny day and thinking of all the little ones, including our sweet neighbors who started a brand new school year today. I sat on the porch with my first cup of coffee, watching the excitement of the first day, waiting for the big yellow bus to take them on a new adventure. Although Flynn and I homeschool and will not start until after Labor Day, I am still excited about all that comes with a new year. I suppose it is the teacher and mother in me. Fresh sharp crayons, new squeaky sneakers, shiny desks, and unmarked chalkboards. Well, maybe now they are whiteboards??

In other exciting news, our pups had a visit to the puppy spa...that's what I tell them...also known as the groomer.

Kirby, Mocha, and Draper all look and smell fresh as can be!

Well, my plans for today included laundry and cooking dinner. However, a quick glance at my sink as I washed my face reminded me that today our water company is flushing the lines, resulting in brown, unappealing looking water. So, all that will wait. In the grand scheme of things, this is a minor inconvenience for me. Prayers to all suffering from flooding, hurricanes, and all the uncertainty and sadness in Afghanistan.

What are your plans today?
Remember to take time for yourself!

  1. My pumpkin spice coffee would need lots of ice today, maybe in a few more weeks. My plans today included a great surprise of finding out I didn't need to get the car inspected for the new tags after all. Big relief and I got to do it all online so done. Hope you have a wonderful week full of great things!

  3. As much as I can't wait for fall I'm waiting to enjoy some pumpkin spice flavoring. My son will be doing school from home this year and starts tomorrow. My daughter, the social butterfly who insists on in-person school starts Wednesday. I'm glad to be back to a routine again but my goodness this summer flew by. Love the dog pics. They are so cute! I've been praying too, what is going on with this world lately?

  6. School began last week here--so early as our kids started after Labor Day as well. My two oldest grands began college today. Believe me that gives this grandmother pause! Your darling pups look so sweet with their cute expressions. Have a happy week, friend.

  7. The pups look so cute! Our pup was groomed last week. I know she feels so much cooler with a short cut. Although I do love her extra fluffy, just not during the hot, summer months. My daughter went to school today and I did some cleaning, laundry, and played with Rosie. Hope you had a great Monday!

  10. Oooh pumpkin spice! We have a heat index warning here the next few days which doesn't make hot coffee sound good but a nice iced coffee... Lovely.

  11. I did a load of laundry today and did a few other things to get ready for vacation soon. Looking forward to flying to another state that I've been longing to go to....Alaska. I made iced tea today.

  12. The pups look all clean and shiny. Don't you hate when they flush the lines and you get all that brown water? The first time it happened I didn't know what the heck was going on. Dunkin' pumpkin spice? I'm in! Yes, prayers for everything that is happening in our country and our world.

  14. Oh that 'in between' - I'm not really "good" at in between. That's this week for me - school hasn't started yet but summer is ending. It's getting Anna ready and getting a classroom ready. It's still slow mornings and chill afternoons that summer days always are but it does feel different this week. In some ways (for anxiety) I'd rather be fully back to school. But of course I don't want that either. So I 'hang out' in this in between holding tightly to the slow mornings and fun, laughing evenings pretending that next week will never come.

  15. Hi Billie Jo~ I am soooo ready for pumpkin spice! When I hear the school buses go by, I always think of those fun first days of school with my kids. School shopping, new pencils, the smell of color crayons, new binders (do kids still use binders?!)...so much has changed! And yes, are care are small compared to some. My heart and prayers go out to those in Afghanistan, so heartbreaking.

  17. Happy new week to you Billie Jo! Annie started school this week and I still always think of those fun school thoughts too. When both of my kids were at the same grade school for a lot of years (some overlapping) - I was so involved on the PTA and committees because I just loved a new school year too. And I miss that time with my kids there.
Yay for pumpkin spice season returning!! 🎃 All the puppy babies look beeeeautiful! 😍
