Accepting Now. Not For Always.

The global pandemic we currently find ourselves a part of is many things: horrible, deadly, devastating, stressful, and confusing. The repercussions affect us all, and we struggle to adjust and make sense of it. For me, living in the moment and accepting the changes help immensely. I encourage my family to slow down, even more than usual, and live in the moment. Lamenting the things we cannot do or have, places we cannot go, events we cannot attend, all these things cause stress, anxiety, and resentment. Accepting today for what it is...today...and not forcing normalcy allow us to enjoy things we may not have before.

We won't Trick or Treat this year. Instead, we will enjoy a family Halloween party with games, food, and fun. We don't go to mass and dinner, rather we watch at home, and find new recipes to try. We take rides and enjoy the beautiful gift of the fall foliage and watch classic movies we never had time for before. Are things different this year? Absolutely. For now. Not for always.

Because of the virus, we cannot physically see my beautiful, sweet mother. We are blessed, however, to video chat with her weekly, and appreciate those moments so very much. She is safe, healthy, and happy. And although we miss her terribly, we accept the fact that this is best for her now. Not for always.

(Isn't she the best???)

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Remember these are the days we will look back on, and tell our children and grandchildren about. This is our time to adjust and accept. To find ways to live and thrive in uncertain times, like many have before us. This is now. Not for always.

  2. Lovely photos! Yes, we should enjoy and be thankful for what we do have, not stress about what we don't.💖

  4. Yes. Yes. Yes. For now. But not always. We haven't yet made official plans for Halloween. But it will likely resemble yours.

  6. It must be so difficult for you not being able to hug your lovely mother. Thank goodness you can still chat via video link, knowing she is well cared for. X

  7. I've been praying that we reach the other side of this virus with normalcy again, but in the meantime I've been enjoying this chance to slow down and be able to relax in my home with my family. We've had to make some adjustments and it's not all fun but it's also teaching us the things we took for granted pre-Covid-19. I don't like what it's done to so many lives but I'm thankful for the lessons.

  8. So beautifully said Billie Jo. I think how we can continue to adapt and look at this, responsibly, but in the best light possible helps with it not becoming overwhelming. I pray extra everyday for a vaccine. As well as praying psalm 91 over all of my loved ones for protection. But I try not to look further than the week ahead of me. Enjoy the blessings around me and this beautiful season. I hug my kiddos tighter and enjoy making home life cozy and positive. And I leave the rest in the hands of the Father - the best hands possible. 🙏 ❤️

  10. Those chocolate bite desserts look so Yummy. It would be nice to have one with my coffee right now. ; ) I hope you have a fun Halloween party with the family. And this is such a precious picture of your Mother. Yes, we can look back in history and see all the difficult times that people endured. The women were sturdy and brave, and handled what came their way without many complaints. They are my role models for sure. Thank you for your positive attitude, Billie Jo. It's like a breath of fresh air.

  11. I can’t imagine how hard it is not to be able to see her in person. And I’m sorry for this. It is just a natural longing to hug your mother or be in the arms of one’s mother. I’m glad that she’s doing well. And I hope this time passes quickly for you and you soon will be in her arms once again.
