How We Are Doing The Beach This Year

After much consideration, we decided to travel to the beach for our annual family vacation. We are thankful to see that all protocols are in place here, and the health and safety of visitors are of the utmost importance to everyone here. We are making adjustments as well, which honestly, are perfectly fine with me! We are eating in more, with the exception of a couple favorite places that require reservations and offer restricted seating. We are forgoing the usual activities in favor of movie nights together by the light of the Pumpkin Spice Candle I carefully packed.

And speaking of movies...We always have trouble deciding on a movie for all of us to watch. I thought of a way to rectify that this year, and all my people were excited to comply! Each person wrote two movie choices that he or she wanted to watch, keeping everyone else in mind. Each evening, Marian chooses one and sometimes two for a double feature, and we guess who chose that movie. Then we watch it together. We have watched The Nightmare Before Chirstmas, Gladiator, Rapunzel, and Master and Commander so far. And everyone is happy.

The weather has been chilly and windy these first few days, so we have spent time at the pool. Which due to restrictions, is available only by reservation. Perfect. And did you know...I love to swim?!?! And I am actually pretty good at it. I think I may have found my exercise. Too bad it is seasonal, right?

The next few days look to be better, so I will be down at the beach, slathered in sunscreen, under an umbrella, with my sunhat. The kids will run into the waves, jump, and swim. Flynn will make castles in the sand, and Steve and I will sit with Marian talking about how peaceful the ocean is, how quickly the years pass, and how thankful we are that the kids still want to spend time with us here.

I hope your week is happy and healthy, my friends.
Thank you for visiting. I will be back around to visit soon!

  2. What a wonderful trip you had at the beach. I love that photo of Flynn buried in the sand. The food looks Yummy. You watched movies together, swam in the pool, and you have the Rosary to keep you safe. Gladiator is one of my favorite movies, and it has a special meaning in there for me. I love that you brought your pumpkin spice candle along for movie nights. The ocean is a perfect place to spend time with the ones you love So peaceful and lovely.

  12. Hi Billie Jo! Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Looking around your blog makes me think we will be great friends! Your kids are so sweet (not to mention successful at such young ages), and after looking up your book one Amazon, I think its a good bet I'm going to order it. I've been working on a number of short stories and I'm not sure it's going to be up to par to ever publish.

I'm glad you went ahead and had your family trip to the beach. I it on the coast? Do you fly or drive? I'm grateful for our immediate family...they are the only people we are comfortable being around without masks, yet I still keep a comfortable distance and wash my hands a lot! I have terrible asthma so I don't take chances.

Looking forward to more of your posts!❤️

  14. Beautiful family making precious memories. Perfection. My MIL and I used to love doing water aerobics at our local YMCA. Her joints couldn't do exercise with impact so thus the water. It was so fun! We used to have Christmas parties with our teacher and fellow classmates - we got to be a pretty tight bunch. Just a thought. 😉
