My Favorite Week Of The Year

Hello, friends!
We are snuggled in, pretending it isn't fifty-three degrees, and savoring every last moment of these cozy Christmas days. We are playing new games, eating yummy cookies, drinking Christmas teas and cocoas, and watching old favorite shows. We ventured out to mass and to our annual Christmas pizza party at my bestest sister Margie and her husband Chris' house. Some of my people went to work but came home after for more cozy fun.

I hope you all had lovely, memorable Christmas celebrations with your loved ones. Do you have any New Year's plans? We will attend mass on New Year's Eve, followed by a special steak dinner, prepared by Steve! Then everyone will humor me with my traditional party hats and noisemakers. New Year's Day is quiet here, with Steve's annual pork and sauerkraut dinner and our Twilight Zone marathon. We are something else, aren't we?!

Have a wonderful celebration of the new year!
Be back soon!

  1. Cute new blog face lift for the new year! Also, love the pics and bio of your loved ones. Gary and I have a similar story, well the "at first sight" thing. We were friends over the phone through our jobs, but the day we finally met face to face, he told my boss he was going to marry me...and he did, about a year later!

Your new year's celebration sounds lovely. The question is...do your noisemakers come out before the new year comes in? I never make it to midnight, so I would need my noisemaker about 11:00, buy, hey, that means it's midnight in Chicago, so I can celebrate with them.

Pork and sauerkraut...that was a tradition we had when I was growing up. I think of it as a German or Dutch thing, and my family is Anglo, so I'm not sure why my grandmother was so adamant about it. Maybe it was a Western Pennsylvania thing.

Oh, that looks like an interesting book.

    Happy new year, my friend!

  3. Wishing you a Happy New Year, Billie Jo. I hope good things come along your way in the new year. The pork dinner sounds delicious, and haven't had sauerkraut in a long time.

  5. You are something and my favorite part of your New Years Celebration is the Twilight Zone marathon. Those are so fun and how I remember being creeped out by them when I was, but a girl.
Glad you had a wonderful cozy Christmas, and yes the weather is so weird, we are going to be in the mid 50's and full sun by Wednesday. Crazy winter weather. Not sure what the husband and I are going to do. It's just us so well start with staying up and watching something, he'll end up falling asleep on the couch and I'll wake him up when the neighborhood fireworks start then we'll say, Happy New Year kiss and go to bed haha!!

  12. We're pretty quiet around here too. I bought some Happy New Year headbands and some noisemakers. We toast with Sparkling Cider and then we're usually in bed by 12:20. :) I hope you have a blessed New Year!

  13. Sounds like you had a perfect New Year, Billie Jo! Noting better than family and good food, right!? We spent our night with family as well, made our favorite shrimp scampi and traditional doughnuts. We are party poopers though, we were in bed before midnight! Happy New Year!
