Do All Things with Love

Even taking care of a sick husband. Yep. The stomach flu hitched a ride on Steve this weekend and set up shop for a couple days. In my bedroom. Enough said. Steve is a tough guy. And he held his own, but it was unpleasant. All day Sunday I was in and out of his quarantine, and the kids finally asked me how I did it! My answer was simple. I signed up for this. Almost twenty-eight years ago. I did it with love. And Lysol. Lots of Lysol.

My tips?
Be prepared.
I always have Lysol, plastic cups, straws, and Gatorade on hand.
Once the patient is able, he or she can shower.
While this is happening, open the windows, douse the entire area in Lysol, and put fresh sheets on the bed. My Mom did this for us when we were sick, and I still remember how good it felt to put on fresh jammies and climb into a newly made bed with fresh sheets.
Do all things with love.
Even when the stomach flu pays a visit.

  2. I'm sorry to hear that your hubby was ill over the weekend but glad he had such a wonderful nurse to take care of him. I love all of your tips that you shared. I ALWAYS have Lysol wipes around but will be adding the spray to my shopping list. I love fresh sheets on the bed...if I had the space (and the money to buy that many sheet sets lol) I'd have fresh sheets on the bed every day...sick or not! :) And your very last two sentences just blessed my heart. xo

  5. Hope he's feeling better. It's been a rough year for the stomach flu (in this area anyway). Sounds like you took wonderful care of your patient.

  6. Yikes, nothing worse than that kind of bug.

  7. Good planner to have all that on hand. I always have Lysol but that's it. Stomach bugs are the worst though. I hope he's back to feeling well and the quarantine worked and everyone was spared.

  8. Oh no! I hope Steve is feeling better!! He's lucky to have you as a nurse! Hang in there! Whenever possible open the windows and let in the fresh air.
Praying for a speedy recovery! Tell him we said Hello! : )

  10. Keep spraying that Lysol! That is a saving grace to reduce the spread...hopefully! Fingers crossed it stops with him. Hope he feels better soon!

  14. I’m sorry your husband was sick over the weekend. I hope he is feeling back to normal now. It sounds like you took excellent care of him, though. I always keep Lysol on hand and clean sheets are just the best after you’ve been sick. Hope you are having a good week!

  15. Thank you for the info about the birth plates!! I know, it's a battle when we have someone sick in the house. It's terrible that we can't open the windows to let fresh air indoors.
    Hope they're feeling better!
