A Good Week And Good Friday

Good morning, my friends. This week brought the warmest weather of the year so far to our little lake in Pennsylvania. Young Billie Jo would have most certainly organized a "Clean and Scrub the Deck Furniture" family event, but Older and Wiser Billie Jo simply had Steve pull out the dirty chairs that were stacked last fall so we could sit outside for a few hours.

Favorite meal of the week? Rhett and Kyrstin planned and prepared a delicious breaded chicken with pasta alfredo meal for all of us! Delicious! And I know my dear Dad was smiling down from Heaven when Rhett used rigatoni! That was his very favorite.

Peyton provided the best dessert for Holy Week. She made Hot Cross Buns!

Here is my beautiful Momma! Steve's Sister Sally, AKA The best person in the world, visited my Mom this week and took her an Easter surprise! How blessed am I that so many others love my Momma? Madison also saw her this week and Facetimed so I could visit too!

Today is Good Friday, and Flynn and I will fast, abstain, and pray the Stations of The Cross. Tomorrow we will prepare for Easter and attend Mass, and Sunday, we celebrate Easter Sunday with brunch and joy and chocolate and each other.

Happy and Blessed Easter, my friends.

  1. Happy Easter to you! We are actually getting gorgeous weather here this weekend in Southern Alberta! You can bet we will be on the deck a bit too probably in "dirty" chairs. LOL.

  3. Dearest Billie Jo,
Loved your happy looking Mama in that picture!
Just got home from Church, reading the 7 last words with 7 people and I was 2nd, then blowing out a candle.
Back again at 3:00 for reading the Passion.
Very meaningful days and we ought to let it all sink in...
Hugs and Happy Easter to you and yours!

  5. Wow, you have an amazing view! Do you live beside a lake? The Alfredo looks so delicious. And your Mom looks like such a joyous and beautiful lady. I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!

  6. Such a beautiful view you have. We used to camp from May 1 to October 1 on a lake in the mountains of Washington. We only went home for Bible study on Thursdays and to wash clothes the same day. I bought groceries and was back at the lake by Thursday evening! Oh, how I loved the view we had.
Your Mom looks so happy. I'm glad you have friends to take care of her and keep in touch with you.
We went to the Good Friday service at church tonight. It was a wonderful time for introspection, prayer, Holy Comunion and singing.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. Nice post of good Friday. Megan made macaroni and cheese with veggies in it. I got off work at 5 and good Friday service st church was at 6:30. I'm thankful she's helpful. We ate rocky road ice cream with a mandarin orange split in half when we got home. Phil rarely eats ice cream 🍦 anymore due to his diabetes problem at his age. I need to find a recipe of hot ✝️ buns. Not sure I've ever bakes them. I did buy cinnamon rolls at work today. Happy and blessed Easter weekend. 🌷

  10. Aww, your mama looks great! And yes, it’s surely a blessing when others love your people, too! I have been so blessed in that my parents became close with each other’s side of the family. They all know each other and love each other and that has been such a great blessing. The food looks great as well! I hope you guys enjoy Easter.

  16. The purple you used for Good Friday is beautiful. The color reminds me of royalty. The chicken and pasta alfredo meal looks delicious. And do you know that's my favorite Italian dish? Peyton's Hot Cross Buns look amazing! My dad loved those, and thank you for sweet memory of him. Your views are always so pretty from your deck. I really enjoy the pictures you show from time to time. That was nice you could sit out there for awhile and enjoy the good weather. We are also getting sunshine, feels like Spring has arrived. But we just never know up here. ; )

Have a splendid Spring week, Billie Jo.
