What Can You Say About...

Pinterest is a fascinating place. I can search for one recipe, which leads to a similar one, which in turn leads to a loosely related image of something else, and suddenly I am seeing pictures of things from my childhood I haven't thought of in years. Here are a few of these images and a short memory of each. This may bring back something for you too!

~ Warm from the oven with the melty icing ~

~ Finding an unopened one just when you needed it? Best thing ever ~

~ Always wanted to do this. Not sure I ever did ~

~ Best thing about payday! Mom bought a pack of these, and you carefully ate the pudding off the lid, trying so hard not to cut your lip ~

~Vague memories of these in our playroom ~

~ Still taste and actually smell the spilled powder that always fell onto the counter when I opened the lid ~

After dinner on a summer night ~ running them under the water  get the ice off ~

Hours and hours of this ~  And so many gifts for Mom and Grandma ~

On the wall in the kitchen near the stove~  Talking and twirling the cord around my finger ~

Best day ever! And waiting forever until the day the teacher comes back from prep period with a cup of coffee in one hand and the Troll Box in another ~

A brand new one for Math  every year, and hoping no one had the exact same ~

Stick pins? On blazers in the '80s

Every night before bed. And on sunburns too!

Super fun on Christmas Day! And then never touched it until Mom cleaned out the closet in March.

I hope this brought back a memory or two for you, my friends!
Anything to add?
Have a cozy Wedneaday!

  1. Really enjoyed this post. So many fun memories! Seems like we did make those popsicles with kool aid a time or too. Looking at the Simon game reminded me that a few months ago, we were with a group of friends, adults of mixed ages, and one pulled out an old Merlin game. Did you ever have one of those? Looked like a phone a bit and had different games to play just by touching the numbers.

  2. Every single one of these brought back memories. My mom used to make popsicles out of Kool aid and Jello mix. She'd put them in the small Dixie cups with a popsicle stick. They were SO good.

  3. FUN!!! I love stuff like this. The Stir 'n Frost cakes and Pudding Pops were sooo good. We didn't have Troll Box but I'm guessing it's just like Scholastic book orders. Yes, the old phone on the wall, with the cord stretched out so much it hung down to the floor. I actually still have my last Trapper Keeper from high school! It's a red one, and holds a collection of random magazine articles and favorite song lyrics that I typed out about a hundred years ago. I hated Noxema but it was a staple. Sadly, we never had a Simon game.

  5. Hey Billie Jo! Some excellent ones here. They were fun to look at. Loved the yellow phone. It's funny, vintage yellow is still here. My mixer is almost that colour and it's a brand new stand mixer. So fun. Happy New week and boogie boogie. Cheers, Ivy.

  6. I remember all of the featured items. That Stir 'n Frost cake was a hit at our house. I loved the panty hose from the L'eggs. Good memories!

  7. I always find it so fascinating that we (in The Netherlands) thought we knew so much about the US (mostly through television series) when I was young, but none of these ring a bell for me. We had something similar to those romper stompers in Kindergarten I think, but that's the only one vaguely familiar...

  8. So fun! A lot of this is before my time, but you better believe my parents brought down my old Simon for my kids. And they played it that day... and now it's in the closet. So some things never change! My mom still hasn't stopped using Noxema, that smell is a comforting one to me!

  9. Oh, I remember so many of these, Billie Jo. The Nestle Quik made me smile, as that's what my mom used to make us hot chocolate and toast. : ) And the pantyhose in the egg carton - I wore those for many years. I remember the stompers! Although, I never had these, I thought how fun it would be to stomp around in them. And the wall phone has to be my favorite on here. I still have a landline phone in my house haha.

Thanks for the great memories, my friend. I enjoyed your post very much.

  10. This is so much fun. I have a Pinterest board that I call Memories, and include these kinds of pictures. Sometimes, I just fill up remembering all those good time. I love the Eggs pantyhose -- had plenty of those! -- and that yellow telephone looks like the exact same one that hung in our kitchen growing up. At one time, the four of us were all teenagers. A family of six and one wall phone! I'm sure we all have similar stories.

  12. That was super fun! We loved our Simon. May even still have it! Our phone on the wall never had the perpetually tangled cord - but was retractable. No doubt saved a lot of sanity in our OCD family:) Didn't ever one get cut on those pudding snack packs? All the time. Just like the Quik spilled - all the time!!

  13. Yes, all good memories and lots of fun. That phone looks exactly like the one in my parent's kitchen. My mother's favorite color was yellow, and she always wanted a yellow phone. Where has the time gone? I hope you are having a good week!

  20. I have such vivid memories of carrying my Trapper Keeper around school and the avocado green (later replaced by harvest gold) rotary phone in our kitchen. The cord was so long it stretched through three rooms of the house. You had to keep going to get privacy! lol Yes, I remember all of these!! And do you know what?? Call me weird, but I still love the smell of Noxezma! That and Love's Baby Soft perfume! : )

  21. I remember each and every one of those things. You can still buy Noxzema but. I think most of the other things are long gone. I loved those cake mixes! What a fun post. xo Diana
