St. Patrick's Day 2022

Our St. Patrick's Day festivities have evolved through the years as my children have grown. Gone are the days of Leprechaun surprises, chocolate gold coins, and rainbows made of fruit. You know what? I do miss those days, but I am enjoying how we celebrate now just as much. This year, Madison and I planned and hosted a special tea the day before St. Patrick's Day. She and I made some delicious tea party sandwiches and a brand new punch recipe, purchased some cute sugar cookies and excellent locally made scones, and brewed some Irish tea. We added some green grapes, and Peyton made a delicious Irish Apple Cake.

Madison, my sister Margie, me, Kyrstin, Flynn, and Peyton are all ready to enjoy our afternoon tea.

St. Patrick's Day itself was quiet. In the morning, I prepared a delicious Irish Stew that cooked all day in the crockpot and added a locally made Irish Soda Bread for dinner. Peyton brought a homemade Boston Cream Pie for dessert.

Holidays are special to our family. But then every day is, right?
Have a cozy weekend, my friends!
I will be around to visit!

  1. I love how you celebrate the holidays! I remembered at 3:15 yesterday afternoon that it was St. Patrick's Day, and thankfully I have an Instant Pot! The corned beef came out so good and tender. Anyway, it's so nice you all gather together so frequently, what fun! (and that stew looks so good!)

    1. I was texting my teenager at 3:15 to get the instapot out because I forgot about the corned beef too! I usually bake it in the oven bag, but the instapot made it so tender. I'd glad I'm not the only one who forgot!

  12. What a wonderful table set for St. Patrick's Day - the cookies, the sandwiches, and the scones. My friend from church first introduced me to scones years ago, and I'd prefer them to cakes; not so much sugar. Your Irish plates are so pretty, and I smile every time I see that candle holder. You and Madison did a great job on everything. The Irish stew and bread look delicious, and I can't believe Peyton made a homemade Boston Cream Pie. It looks amazing.....and festive. What a special day and a dear photo to remember the tea day. Oh, and I forgot about Irish tea. Love that, and will have to get some.

Have a restful weekend, Billie Jo.

  14. What a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick's day! I absolutely love afternoon tea. I drink tea at home almost every afternoon. I adore your shamrock tea cups and saucers - they are gorgeous! So happy you were able to celebrate with your family in such a fun way! Also, love your tablecloth. You seem to have such a nice collection of tablecloths. Hope you are having a great weekend enjoying this first day of spring! It's around 60 degrees and very windy here. Stay cozy!

  15. I just wanted to say I think it's so wonderful that you have so gracefully accepted life's changes to your traditions, and can appreciate the new ones equally! It's a gift to your children. My mom has a very hard time accepting change around traditions, especially holidays, and it makes it very difficult for her adult children.
