Ordinary Moments

Ordinary moments of ordinary days are underrated, don't you think? It is so easy these days to set up and edit a photo to portray moments in our lives in a way that embellishes them rather than celebrates them for what they are. Blessedly ordinary. Growing up before the age of instant gratification, I recall special events like birthdays, holidays, and weddings being the times we all squeezed together and smiled for the camera. Now, we have the ability to make every single photo we take portray a perfect moment in a perfect life. Perfect lives do not exist. But regular, ordinary, messy, random, fun, silly, and real ones do. Here are just a few of the random moments in our lives this week.

Mocha. Just being Mocha.

Me. Heading in from an evening on the boat, life vests and wet towels in hand.

And a happy lunch with these two besties who are looking more alike every single day.

Have a lovely weekend, my friends. It is going to be rainy here, so I am planning to complete our fall decorating. I know. It is still August. But I can't pass up a cozy, rainy day. We will also watch mass and get groceries. That's it. And I am glad.

One more.
Humbly offered with prayers for those who gave their lives yesterday, their families, all those who are and who have served in Afghanistan and around the world. For us.

  1. Good morning, Billie Jo. "Ordinary" is good! I think to myself sometimes, as these ordinary moments are occurring, "This is it, THIS is life."

  2. Ordinary is my favorite. Both in the liturgical season and at home. There is truly nothing I like more. So happy you get some ordinary. And yes, Flynn and Peyton look so similar!! I love it!

  3. Ordinary is very under rated. Enjoy your cozy, rainy, fall decorating weekend! (Not quite ready to think fall decorating here, probably has to do with the crazy heat advisory weather all week)

  5. Ordinary is wonderful! Enjoy your rainy weekend. Here we are hot and humid. It is miserable being outside. For once I have nothing on the calender for Saturday so I think it will be a day to catch up on inside work and to stay home and not.go anywhere. Have a good weekend!

  9. Amen, about prayers for those in Afghanistan and our service members who lost their lives trying to help others get to freedom. All so upsetting. One of the young Marines was from Utah, the same age as my oldest son, and grew up just a few miles from where I live. I pass the high school he attended multiple times each week. So tragic and sad, but I am so grateful for those who serve, including my oldest daughter, who is an officer in the U.S. Navy. Thank you for this post. I love your beautiful house by the lake. You are right - your daughters are looking more and more alike as time passes. Hope you have a good weekend.

  13. Ordinary days really are the best days! We did a pick up at the grocery store today and a quick trip into Trader Joe's for a few items. We then picked up takeout tacos for lunch and they were so good. It's very hot and humid here - 95 degrees today and felt like at least 100. The heat seems to zap my energy. I'm very much looking forward to cooler days, but I think it will be while before we see them. If it never got over 65 or 70 degrees, I'd be a very happy camper! Hope you are having a really nice weekend!
