Let's Talk About...Christmas!

I know, I know. We still have bowls full of Halloween candy stashed in the pantry. We have a delicious turkey dinner to plan and prepare. But. Christmas!

Let's talk about Christmas, shall we?
Here are a few things you should know about Christmastime around here.

Christmas music will be playing as much as possible all day long.

Hallmark Movies, on the other hand?
Nope. I want to like them. But I am just not a fan.

This though?
We are addicted to watching QVC's Gourmet Holiday!
We will watch the parade of delicious looking food for hours, even if we don't buy a thing.
Why? I have no idea!!!
But we love it.

And in the spirit of full disclosure, I must admit...
I have never watched this iconic movie.

This one though?
Every single year.
Multiple times. : )

Well, that is a good start, right??
What is Christmastime like in your home?
And when do you start the festivities?
Have a great day, my friends.

  4. While they can be a little corny, I do love watching the Hallmark movies. In the day of doom and gloom, sweet sappy stories are a breath of fresh air. You really must watch It's a Wonderful Life!

  6. What a fun post, my friend. I confess that I have been listening to Christmas music every day. It started when I began creating Christmas items for my shop. Oh, how I love the old Christmas music :)

It was a tradition to watch "Ernest Saves Christmas" every Christmas Eve when I lived at home. Such sweet memories....

Have a beautiful day, my friend, and bring on the Christmas! Hugs!

  7. We're starting already! M LOVES the hallmark movies and is determined to watch every single on! She's been playing Christmas CDs in the car since about July and plans to get the tree up this weekend! I must add Christmas with the Kranks to our list as we haven't seen that one! Have a great Wednesday!

  8. We are so a like in so many ways ;) Laughing cause we literally sat around the TV, ate our dinner & watched Christmas with the Kranks last night! Love that movie! And Christmas music has already started over here! Desperately want to love all those Hallmark Christmas movies, but I just don't and never watched It's a Wonderful Life, although I do own a copy! Ha go figure!! lol.. One of my favorite sentimental Christmas movies is from 1996 called The Christmas Tree, Julie Harris is in it! I stumbled on it by accident and watched the full movie on Youtube! I cried, It's a good one!! Watch it if you can! Oh and I wanted to tell you about your post the other day! We chop up candy and do Halloween brownies with all our leftover chocolate! But this year we also too a chocolate chip cookie recipe and instead of chocolate chips with added the chopped candies... And an extra 1/3 cup of chocolate chips! Let me tell you! Those were the best cookies EVER!! Happy Wednesday!

  9. I've got most of my gift list ticked off already but we don't start decorating until December usually. I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life either but then I don't really watch a lot of movies. Have fun! xx Susan

  10. We will have our Christmas dancing lights show up by Thanksgiving (hopefully!) I'll probably start decorating inside with in the next week. Like you, Christmas music all day long. You would probably love "It's a Wonderful Life." It was another one of those movies my Dad and I watched.

  12. I have to be in just the right mood for the Hallmark movies. Can't believe you've never seen It's A Wonderful Life! I do think you'd enjoy it. Can you believe I've never seen Christmas with the Kranks? We're typically out of town for Thanksgiving but I like to get our tree set up as I can the weekend we return. Polar Express is the movie I enjoy.

  14. Billie Jo, no talk of Christmas before Thanksgiving ((laughter))------....I simply can't talk about Christmas yet, semester is winding down, so many things to do and little time to do it. However, come Thanksgiving day, things will be done around the house.

    1. Hi Linda,
I think about Christmas in September, because that's when the publishers want their Christmas books reviewed!
      Be blessed friend!

  15. Love your music list! Check out Chris Tomlin's ADORE Christmas album. You can find some of the songs on YouTube. It is the most worshipful Christmas album I've ever heard.

You simply must watch It's a Wonderful Life once. We also really like White Christmas, Holiday Inn, The Bishop's Wife, The Preacher's Wife, and my favorite old back and white—Christmas in Connecticut...and yes, Christmas with the Kranks is a must, too.

    Be blessed friend!

  16. I think that's funny that you've never seen Its A Wonderful Life but you watch Christmas with the Kranks over and over!! This year I decided I'm starting Christmas early. Our church hosts a huge Thanksgiving dinner outreach and we serve about 1400 people on Thanksgiving. We start planning during the summer and after Halloween it's Thanksgiving 24/7. So in comparison, it feels like Christmas only lasts a couple days. This year, I started playing Christmas music in my car a few weeks ago. But I'm with you regarding the Hallmark movies. As hard as I try to love them, they always end up so cheesy. I'll stick with my favorite movies year after year... Elf, The Nativity Story (a live action story of Mary and Joseph) Polar Express, The Santa Clause and of course, It's a Wonderful Life!

  17. You HAVE to watch It's a Wonderful Life. Please, just once!! :) I just wrote a blog that mentioned my love of Hallmark Christmas movies. They are so predictable and dumb, but I still love watching many of them during the season. Ha!! :)
