24 Things To Do Until Christmas Comes...Number 14

Number 14...Write Out Christmas Cards Together

I love Christmas cards. I love sending them. I love receiving them. I love to watch families grow year after year. I have always loved getting my cards, setting up my table, pouring a cup of tea, and writing out our family cards. Once we began homeschooling, I realized that it is even more special when the kids help me with them. Sometimes they put the return labels on, or even address a few.  It is just another chance to spend time together during this most special season. So this year, why not make an afternoon of it...put on some Christmas music and write out your cards together? : )

  1. Same here. I just picked mine up from the store yesterday afternoon.

You know, I always feel a bit anxious when it comes to my own family Christmas cards, due to unnecessary pressure I place on myself to make them perfect. Silly. I know. This year, I decided to just take a "quick" snapshot of my loves and accept what came out on the other end. There's no need for trying to make it perfect. I realized that is the total opposite of what Christ's message is all about.

So, after 25 quick snaps, I had two pictures that were just okay. LOL! My thought? Thank goodness for digital photography!

  2. Great idea. Thanks for the smiles. On a personal note, Since my 96 yr old grandmother is in a nursing home with a failing memory, it is no longer "fun" to write out cards, we use to do this together. It seems, friends and family have "faded" away and no longer send cards etc. Just makes me sad. I use to love doing this. Blessings

  3. I got in the habit of sending New's Year's cards and Valentine's over the last few years. People seemed to like the "original" idea, but in actuality it was my laziness before Christmas that lead me to that. This year, I'm going back to Christmas cards. I'm planning on doing them today and with your idea, I may incorporate the family to help me out!

  4. I too love sending and receiving Christmas cards. They can be time consuming, but so worth it. Like you said, pour a hot drink, put on the Christmas music, relax and enjoy.
I love your new header and the photos of you as well as your children, just beautiful.
    Have a beautiful day!

  5. Good idea for spending some extra time with your family. We have a 'post office' at my church and it saves lots of postage.

  6. Christmas cards here seem to be a thing of the past. In fact, now I send only to family. I love them. Although money was little when I was a little girl, mama always sent Christmas photo cards to say thank you from the church parsonage.

  7. That is the prettiest Christmas cup I've ever seen... ever! It looks vintage, is it?

  8. You did well. Your card was beautiful and I smiled at the pretty letters on the envelope. Mine will not be that beautiful, but it's the thought that counts, right? :) Our photos were done quickly in the midst of kids not feeling well. While it's not perfection, it's very US right now. Yours will arrive in the mailbox later this week or early next. I ordered the cards and return address labels, but of course they didn't get finished and sent to me on the same day. Grrrr. Still waiting on the return labels.

  9. I send out photo cards, but no Christmas letters. I wasn't going to send out cards this year, but I don't have it in me NOT to :) I love sharing our family's photos with loved ones and friends and I love to get cards in the mail! Love your idea of doing the cards together as a family! Hoping you are having a blessed Advent!
