Monday Evening Coffee

Hello, my friends! Don't adjust your clocks and watches, it is indeed Monday evening! I first want to thank you all for your kind and supportive comments on my last post concerning my anxiety about my upcoming medical appointments. I appreciate your understanding and prayers, and carried them with me this morning. I know it seems a bit illogical to be so anxious about appointments I choose to make, but that is the nature of OCD. It can take the most mundane thing and spin it into the worst possible scenario, then convince me that it is the probability. My OCD has improved so much, as has my anxiety, but every now and then, it likes to remind me it is still around, so again, thank you.

My first appointment was my annual mammogram. My friend Leslie texted me to ask me what time it was today, and I responded with this super attractive picture of me sitting in the waiting room. Why would I share this less-than-stellar picture of myself on the blog? To remind anyone who needs to schedule her mammogram that yes, it can be scary. It can be uncomfortable. But you will feel so much better when it is over, and you can check it off your list. After this, I headed upstairs for my yearly gynecological visit, another super fun time. Thankfully, that was good, as was my mammogram report, and I am good to go for another year!

Me. Before.

Me. On the way home. (PSA- McDonald's Vanilla Iced Coffee is underrated.)

And after!

Home, showered, and ready to hit the couch. Please note the Christmas t-shirt I found in Rhett's donate pile. Apparently, I didn't keep any of my t-shirts here like I sort of remembered I did.

This past weekend was spent with Peyton and Chris and filled with good food, delicious desserts, games of dominoes, and a movie night too.

Next up: The dentist Tuesday and the dermatologist Wednesday. We have slowly been moving things to Maryland each time we have traveled, so we have a great deal of the work already done. However, we will spend time purging, packing, and donating this next week too. Thanks again, my friends. Have a wonderful evening, and stay cozy.

Billie Jo

  1. Great news! And even better news for me because I thought something bad must have happened for you to post in the evening. You call your photo less than stellar. I wish I looked like you! A beautiful green eyes blonde with no wrinkles!!

  2. I'm with Ginny - I think you look cute! I'm on somewhat the same schedule. I saw the dentist last week, this week I see the eye doctor, next week the dermatologist and rheumatologist. But my mammogram and physical was done earlier.
You are packing on top of all the appts, and fitting in fun family time. I think you're pretty amazing!

  3. So glad appointments are getting off the to-do list - it’s a relief, isn’t it? I have a couple coming up as well - never look forward to them, but we need to stay healthy. Family night looks like a hit! And I just had a thought - what a wonder woman you are - your Maryland house is decorated and all cozy, oh my, how to choose favorites from the PA house and combine the two?! Thanks for posting while you’re so so busy - always fun to hear from you!

  6. When you get to be my age...they stop putting you through the pap smears...at least here they do. I still get the mammograms though...and colonoscopies, evil though they are...lol
    Happy week!

  7. I have appointments this week, too. I go into it, not with trepidition, but with 'just get it done'. It is necessary and important, so we do what we have to do. Moving... would cause more anxiety for me than any appointment. I think I am done with moving. Wishing you a blessed week with more negative results and some feel-good purging getting done!! xo

  10. Wonderful news my dear Friend! And continued prayers the rest will go just as smoothly. Love the shirt!! One of the best movies EVER...not just Christmas. :) I LOVE McD's vanilla iced coffee - and their diet coke. They are steller and just better than regular diet coke and coffee shops coffee. I don't know what they do but it's magic (I heard they filter their water better and that the diet coke syrup comes in a better material than plastic or something?) Blessings xo

  11. I have never had the vanilla iced coffee from McD's but I think even their regular coffee is also underrated..
    Wishing you much peace.

  14. I'm so glad your appts. went well. Oh, those M&M cookies look amazing. That's a neat plate that they are served on too. I'm glad you found that t-shirt in the donate pile. I love Elf, and remember that quote well. I miss McDonald's so much, and will have to drive through when I travel to my hometown. So nice that you got to spend some time with Peyton. And you are doing great on the purging, packing, and donating. It's a lot, and it sounds like it's coming along. Take care, dear friend, through the moving journey. And thank you so much for reminding me of the Divine Mercy Sunday. : )

  15. Hi friend! First off, I LOVE that shirt so so so very much! It made me smile! Secondly.. this is going to sound strange but I'm going to say it anyhow lol... since the winter I have been reading so many things on neuroplasticity and although I've never had an actual medical diagnosis I really have been studying and feel like I do have a sort of OCD. I used to joke about it all the time, but I have found some 'ticks' in my brain that just don't make any sense. I'm working through it, and trying hard to focus on progress and not focus on symptoms, but there are a lot of things that I've found that really sound a lot like OCD.....so I get how things that seem so simple can send you over the moon! Even if I don't have bad appointments if I get it in my mind that I'm worried about it, it can really send me into a tailspin! Did that sound odd? LOL Sorry!
Those cookies look amazing, and having game nights is one of my latest goals. I hope you have an amazing week!

  16. Thankful for a good report on your mammogram. Great news! You are so adorable in your photo...I have OCD when I have to go to my cardiologist, which I did today. Come back in three weeks was how my report came out. It is always fun to see the joy that you and your family share. The contentment of life is seen in each of your post...

  17. Yay for good reports! I'm sure the dentist today was good as will be the dermatologist. (I have an appointment with mine next Monday.) Your picture is so cute, both before and after. And the weekend sounds absolutely perfect. Goodies and all.
    Blessing and hugs,
    Betsy

  18. Yaaaay! So glad you are done with that hassle for the year and I understand the anxiety. I have to get my mammo soon and I am not looking forward to it, especially since last time they said they saw something they were unsure of and will be checking it again next time. Ugh. I'm hopeful it's nothing. I love that shirt! I need to find one for myself. That's one of my favorite parts of the movie.

  19. Trading anxiety for peace. I love that. And I need to work on that more. It is a constant (uphill) battle. So glad you have so many of your appointments behind you for another year!

  20. Hi Billie Jo~ Oh my goodness, you are so brave! I also struggle with anxiety. It's been a real struggle for me. I'm always so nervous to go to the Dr., always afraid of things that never happen! It sounds like you are all set for the next year. Your photo is adorable, and I love your shirt! Hugs, Barb
