If I Try Really Hard

 I can still...

See these sitting in my mom's kitchen cupboard...

Remember all the hours I played with this amazing dollhouse...

Taste the gritty pieces of undissolved powder in this, no matter how much I stirred...

Feel the cool, fresh feel of my favorite set of sheets...

See my sister Margie wearing one of these around her neck...

Taste the distinct taste of these special treats my mom found for us every single year...

Hear this comforting voice at the end of every weekend...

Taste the sweet crunch of these that my mom would decorate our homemade birthday cakes with...

Know the cozy, safe feeling of this, right down to the blanket...

Remember the excitement of wearing a pair of these on the first day of eighth grade, even though it was 70 degrees outside...

And remember laughing with my family every Sunday night, watching...

and

Because I had the most wonderful childhood ever.

I hope you have happy memories too.

  3. Every now and then someone will post these things on Instagram, but in my case it was the 60s and 70s. For the most part, its a sweet trip down memory lane. (:

  5. I remember so many of these things too, Billie Jo. Weren't those crunchy cake toppings fun? Oh Yes, the Bonne Bell lip smackers. Love the Peanuts sheets. The girls had a doll house that their grandpa made, and when they were all grown up, I eventually gave it away. I wish I had kept it. Those ice cream treats your mom got you look yummy. And I used to cringe when my mom put Vick's on us when we were sick....but it worked! Such a delightful post, Billie Jo. I enjoy these 'blast from the past' posts very much. Happy March!

  7. I know! I wish the whole world would go back in time. Those years were more innocent and safe. Memories are to be cherished and I often think back and feel the happiness. As for the tv shows, thanks to our nostalgic times, we can see most again! andrea

  9. Whoosh! Billie Jo, you just took me back to my childhood. Every. Single. One of these. Down to my sister Melanie and the Bonnie Bell! I can't believe it's every single one of these. Thank you my dear friend. Those were good days even though we didn't always think so.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  11. I remember so many of these! The ice-cream, Casey Kasum, The Corelle. You left out Alka-Seltzer (pop pop fizz fizz) and American Bandstand. I LOVED bonne Belle. I guess that whole brand is gone now. Also the Love's Baby Soft.

  12. Hello dearest Friend!
I love how you are absolutely stellar at bringing the nostalgia. I often thank God in my prayers for having such wonderful parents and such a great childhood too. I relate with every single one of these...well except that dollhouse. I don't remember that one. But I had a Barbie dream house my Mom got at a rummage sale that I thought was the best thing ever!! I totally forgot about those crunchy sugar letters and numbers for a cake. I remember for my birthday I always requested tacos and a chocolate cake and it would have those crunchy flowers and letters on it. Such precious memories. :) Blessings 💗

  13. Oh Wow Billie Jo....this was a sweet ride down memory lane. Those hard candy decorations for our birthday cakes were so special. In our area, those dishes are very popular right now.. the antique stores really have the prices hiked up too. Sending you a Warm East Texas hug
