Friday Photos

Hello, my friends, and Happy Friday! This week has been comfortably ordinary, as March days often are. I used to find March to be long, uneventful, and dreary. Age has blessed me with wisdom, as it often does, and I now appreciate March for what it is: a bridge between the cozy, winter days and the brighter spring ones. This week, the sun shone so brightly outside one day that I felt I should be outside, enjoying the sun and warmth. In actuality, the air was bitterly cold, so I happily snuggled back on the sofa for the rest of the afternoon. Warmer days are coming, I know.

Spending this time inside has allowed me a chance to add some personal touches to this house we are making a home. The kitchen...

And right nearby, the dining area...

I added a rug that adds some coziness and color to the dining area while keeping the open floorplan clean. The soft rug is pup-approved, too. Which is good, because we often have four around! Marty, Flynn's precious Maltipoo...

My ten-year-old Yorkie, Mocha, loves Rhett so much...

Marty with Madison...

Madison and Nico's cute Havanese Draper with Rhett...

Marty with Flynn and a sophomore schoolwork...

And Steve's sweet Cavapoo, Cosmo, eyeing up my dessert!

Yes. Dessert. Made by Rhett and Kyrstin this week when they made dinner, chicken parmesan with alfredo. I have no photo because I just couldn't wait!

This tiramisu was delicious!

Now, I actually did cook this week. Although it was not fancy, I did whip up a family favorite last night. And it was as good as always. Organic chicken nuggets, canned green beans, homemade macaroni and cheese, and the simplest tossed salad...

Tonight we are going out for a fish fry, and tomorrow we will go to mass. The rest of the weekend is free, though I do have plenty to tackle. Maybe I will start with a cup of coffee and make a list of things I need to do? That is something, right?

Besides, I don't want to overdo it. We do lose an hour of sleep, right?

Happy Friday, my friends. I am looking forward to visiting with you this weekend. Thanks for visiting. I am always so happy you do.

Billie Jo

  1. Oh I love that rug! It's beautiful. (And since it's pup approved I know you're happy.) I love to see your regular people meals. Sometimes fancy, sometimes not. The balance we all need right? Sounds like the perfect weekend before the time change!

  2. I really am not a fan of the time change! But it's happening whether I like it or not...
Your home is looking very welcoming and cozy. Love the rug and that little white vase.
The tiramisu looks like it came from a restaurant.

  3. Everything looks wonderful and that tiramisu is perfection! As someone that has to be at work at 530am I am not a fan of this time change but I'm hoping a Sunday afternoon nap will help.
Have a wonderful weekend, Billie Jo!!

  4. What inviting/cozy additions you have added to your home, Billie Jo! The rug is lovely. Your dinner you made looked yummy and the chicken parm and alfredo sounded awesome. I am not a fan of the time change. While I prefer standard time, I wish they would pick one or the other and leave it alone. Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. Oh Billie Jo, I know what you mean. I went out yesterday cause the sun was shining, and it was still so cold and the wind was blowing, so even colder. Your kitchen touches are charming, and the blue rug adds a special touch for sure. That pottery bowl is so unique and pretty! Those dog companions are giving love all around. The photo of Cosmo eyeing that dessert is delightful. The tiramisu looks amazing. LOVE that coffee quote, and the gym one made me laugh. I can relate. Have a pleasant weekend, dear friend.

  8. Under cabinet lighting: I've had it in 2 of my houses but I don't have it now. It does so much to brighten a kitchen, as well as to illuminate all you are doing on the countertops. Your home is lovely.

  13. Happy Friday night Billie Jo. We didn't go to the Fish Fry tonight because we went out to lunch instead. I was still stuffed and didn't even eat dinner. Your kitchen is beautiful. We've been thinking of having our cabinets painted gray. Your photos make me want them even more. Dennis has installed under cabinet lighting in each of our homes. It makes such a nice difference in warming up the space and actually being able to see better too.
I love the photos of your kids and dogs. You can tell that they all know they are loved. Such sweet face, both humans and dogs. Zoey is curled up in my chair with me as it's thundering outside. She doesn't like thunder at all and last night she slept directly ON Dennis. Usually she's curled under the blankets on my side of the bed. Always touching me. But when she's scared, she only wants her Daddy. Just like the kids used to be. She really is our baby.
I hope your weekend is a wonderful one. Your blog is such a blessing to me and I always smile when I see that you've posted.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy
