Good Monday morning! I hope that if Winter Storm Fern paid you a visit this weekend, you are safe and sound, cozy and warm. We were initially forecast to receive an excessive amount of snow here, so when I awoke yesterday around 6:30, I got up, made my coffee, and settled in, anxious to watch the snow fall as soon as the light of day appeared. I am certainly glad I did. This is what I saw. After a few more flakes and a small amount of ice, everything turned to rain. While I was disappointed, I also acknowledge that we were spared the shoveling, plowing, and power outages that so many are dealing with. If that is you, I hope you are back to normal as soon as possible.
Aside from the mass on Saturday night, we canceled all our plans. This translates to a weekend of games played together. Did you know that you can play Boggle and Pictionary with your family on Netflix? You just connect and use your phone. It is so fun! There was also reading (me), watching football (others), and napping (also me). I also finally hung the family pictures that have been in a big plastic tote since we moved in last August! I don't have a kitchen wall for them, but this one near the steps works well for everyone who came before us. These are my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Steve's parents are there also. I love having these people right near me as I go about my day.
I often share our dinners here, but did you know, we also eat lunch?? I have this thing that I become fixated on a particular meal and eat it every day for as long as I can. This is the current selection.
Another thing I share here is the beautiful sunrises. Did you know we also have sunsets???
Well, that is all for this morning. I am going to pour another cup of coffee and sit by the fire for a few minutes, just like my parents used to do. Just themselves, the quiet, and some hot coffee by a fire. Social media, cell phones, streaming services, and polarizing news media were not yet available to intrude on the cozy little life they had created. Imagine that.
Have a cozy Monday, my friends. Stay warm!
BillieJo

I love sitting with my coffee in the quiet. My parents always did that too and it feels good. I love sunrises and sunsets too. I receive pictures often from family members because they know how much I love them. We had an icy weekend but now it is just cold, thankfully the sun is shining. Enjoy your day dear friend. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteWe got all of the snow and freezing temperatures, so we've been huddled in since Friday. Our weekend sounded much like yours, reading, sports on TV and naps. I also did a lot of baking. Stay warm and cozy Billie Jo!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you were spared and I hope your power remains on. We had 4-5 inches with a sleet and freezing rain topper. In many ways, we were spared, but in others (like the road conditions, we were not). I don't have to go anywhere until Friday and if it isn't better by Thursday, I am canceling that appointment. Enjoy the warmth of the fire and stay cozy, Billie Jo.
ReplyDeleteGood Monday Morning!!!! It is frigid cold here and we have a little ice which is rare in the deep south. :) I love sunsets and lunch too!!!! :) Your gallery wall of your family is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't get slammed with the storm. It is snowing yet again here!
ReplyDeleteI never knew that about Neflix and games. I'm going to have to check that out.
Your lunch looks fabulous - now I need to find something for myself. :)
Hi, I did not now about the games on Netflix. Thank you for the tip. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt has been crazy cold here and my appetite went crazy for sweets. Hee Hee!
I made gingersnap cookies and a pecan pie.

I haven’t left the premises since Saturday. We got well over a foot of snow in Maine and it’s still snowing. Is there anything better than sitting by a fire in a clean house with dinner in the crockpot?
ReplyDeleteYou decorated for Valentine's Day! I love it all, especially those little houses. Your gallery of photos looks very nice, Billie Jo, and it is so comforting to have these loved ones close to us each day. I'm glad your power is still going strong despite the snow and rain, as so many states across the country are having severe weather. Your cup is delightful. I just watched that cartoon with Charlotte, so thanks for the memory. You have the most delightful cups ever. Your meal looks so delicious...and healthy. Try to stay warm, Billie Jo, and Ii enjoyed your sweet blog post this morning while I had my morning coffee. ; )
ReplyDeleteGood morning Billie Jo... Beautiful sunrises and your photo wall is so very nice. I need to add some photos to mine. What better to do than play games with family...watch football and just enjoy the warmth of a winter's day. As for us, we are iced in.
ReplyDeleteI eat the same things like you. For weeks and then I change.
ReplyDeleteGosh, that cottage cheese looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI am so surprised that it was all rain for you! Maryland is..well, just a half hour away. I would have gladly shared some of your snow with you!! But, yes, hooray to no shoveling! And any good excuse to snuggle in for the day. I did not know you can play games through Netflix. Who knew...but fun to know! Enjoy your Monday and keep warm!
ReplyDeleteI think you have the right idea here...
ReplyDeleteI am glad the weather didn't bother you too much! Enjoy your Monday!
ReplyDeleteI love your picture wall! I know what you mean about loving having your parents, grandparents and great grandparents around you as you go throughout your day. I've really been missing both my parents and when I put away all of the Christmas decor and redid the library table, I put out a picture of my dad when he was probably around 8 years old, and a picture of my mom when she was a senior in high school. It just brings me joy to see their faces when I walk by. xx
