Hello! Well, we have one more week until Christmas Eve! I say that not to panic, but to remind myself that yes, the time I've planned and thought about all year is almost here. In an effort to truly enjoy this season, I plan to focus on what I can do in the next week rather than what I need to do.
Let's see how that goes! So, in the final week leading up to Christmas,
I need to help Steve wrap all the gifts. But I can also watch my favorite Christmas movies while we are doing that.
I need to finalize Christmas brunch and a light meal for Christmas Day. But I can do that because we have a pretty good idea of what we are having, and I am keeping it easy this year.
I need to change the bedsheets and vacuum the carpets. But I have help with that, and it doesn't take that long.
I need to place the final Christmas grocery order. But, hey! Hello, Walmart delivery! Merry Christmas to you!
What I don't need to do is worry, fret, panic, and feel like I have to do everything myself. I don't have to have everything done, create a social media-approved or influencer-worthy Christmas for my family, or freak out if a gift or two doesn't arrive in time. I don't need to count the number of cookies I eat or worry about calories adding up. Because this is the only Christmas 2025 we will ever celebrate. Some day, we will look back on this Christmas, and we won't remember any of that stuff. What we will not forget, I hope, is that we had the best time ever, being together at Christmas.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends!

Great reminders. I have not been feeling Christmas this year, but can't wait to spend the time I can with my 6 grands and my kids
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect Christmas attitude!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday, Billie Jo! Each one is an awesome reminder of what one's holiday attitude should be. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI like what you said about Christmas cookies, thank you. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI thank you so much for your reminder that we do not need to be so hard on ourselves.

This is the perfect attitude towards Christmas and actually every day. Some people put too much stress on themselves and try to control things that really cannot be controlled. You keep doing you, my friend!! The best thing we can do is be present and enjoy the moments.
ReplyDeleteLove this last week before Christmas! Relax and go with the flow is my motto.
ReplyDeleteAhh, Christmas cookies! I am super thankful we have some cut outs, and gingerbread cut outs in the freezer, have to get them out and decorate them, which I love love love doing! Since I'm not leaving the house except for PT these days, I have a lot of time to relax and enjoy the season, and have done all my gift shopping online. The most important thing is family, and family will be coming here Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, what doesn't get done, well, who will notice? ( I have seriously enjoyed wrapping presents this year, it's not strenuous, just fun!). I am not exactly bored, but a package comes in the mail, and I'm like YAY, I can wrap something! I do love visiting here, you have the best attitude. This is truly a wonderful time of the year.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweater!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the point you made about not remembering most of those things that we stress over, but we remember the time we spent together. So important!
You really have the right attitude about Christmas!!!
