All The Things

Hello, my friends! Happy Friday! This next week, the middle of October, is my second-favorite week of the year. The week between Christmas and New Year's will forever hold the top spot in my heart. Back to October, though. I grew up in a little town in Pennsylvania, surrounded by mountains. In the middle of October every year, the trees around that little town put on the most fantastic display of red, orange, yellow, and all shades in between. I was a majorette in high school, and I vividly remember seventh-period band practice on the football field, looking up to see the gorgeous colors all around.

Years later, when I had young kids, I encouraged them to look around at the mountains and the colorful trees during those precious few days of October. We wait all year for them, and they are here for such a short time. That is why I love these days so much. I never take the colors and coziness of mid-October for granted.

Here are some of the things we did around here this past week of October. I may no longer be on a high school football field with a baton, but October still brings joy to my heart. And for the record, I still have my baton and can still twirl that thing like I am seventeen again!

Speaking of seventeen again, Steve and I took Flynn to a concert this week! Twenty One Pilots is one of her very favorites, and one of mine now, too. They were playing a few hours from here, so we took a drive and had the best time ever. I was so happy for Flynn! During the concert, both of the band members played right next to us! It was incredible!

This girl keeps us young, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Morning walks are good for the mind, body, and soul. So are pups.

Steve and I spend a lot of time sitting by the ocean. I never tire of watching those waves.

And beach or no beach, I am wearing my pumpkin sweater in October!

Lastly, this is your reminder to whip up a little pan of brownies, or something else a little extra this weekend. October is here!

Have a lovely weekend, my friends. Thank you for visiting!

Billie Jo

  1. You know I agree with your love of October and the week between Christmas and New Years as the best time of the year.

  2. How neat to get to be so close to the performers! We were sitting on a middle aisle that was completely blocked off to the stage so we knew they weren't going to be walking by us.

  3. There's a young lady in our church who loves Twenty One pilates. Her Dad used to always take her and I'd see it on her FB. Now her husband goes along, but Dad does too. A sweet tradition!
Your scenery around you is just beautiful!

  5. Hey there sweet Billie Jo!! Isn't it nice to reminisce about things that made life so wonderful in our growing up years? I love that you have taught your kids to stop and smell the roses so to speak...enjoy the things of nature all around you. A few years ago, one our grandsons and his good friend drove from Texas to Ohio to see Twenty one Pilots. I thought they had lost their minds...lol. Geez...these are some really gorgeous waves in your photos...Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend...maybe full of surprises...

  6. Hello my Friend!
You are the coolest parents and what a treat to share in that concert with Flynn! Love it! Your photos of the beach and ocean are always so stunning. It is so very beautiful there. I love mid October too!! My bday is smack dab in the middle (Oct. 15th) and I've always thanked God I was born in my most favorite month of the year. It is when it gets about peak beautiful here in the northwoods too. I L🎃VE that pumpkin sweater SO much!! I have a favorite sweater that has pumpkins all across it and I wear it with my orange vest and it brings me such joy. I plan to wear it this weekend when Matt & I go hiking somewhere special. Thank the Lord for Octobers. 🙏🏻🧡

  7. I love the water with the one bird flying above it. And the bird perched on the pole. Why have I never heard of this group? What a light show! My favorite are the green lights!

  8. I loved all the photos today! How fun to enjoy a concert with your youngest! My first concert was with my mom, and it is still a sweet memory (Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass)! Enjoy your sweater weather! It is still hot here in central Florida. Wishing you a blessed weekend!

  10. We had brownies recently so I'm thinking I should bake some pumpkin bars with a cream cheese frosting. Like you, I could watch the ocean waves for a very long time.
