Monday Morning Coffee

Good morning, my friends! Happy Monday! And, while we are at it,

Yep. There is an official day designated for the celebration and consumption of the best-smelling, most delicious-tasting beverage of all, coffee. Thank you to Madion for pointing out this important fact to me. Have another cup and enjoy!

We were at the condo this past weekend, and had a great time. Nicolas, Madison, and Flynn attended a music festival at the inlet, and they had an absolutely fantastic time. The rain held off, and the bands were great. Their favorites were Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Train, and Vance Joy. They had a blast, as shown in the pictures below.

These two are my first and my last, and they couldn't have more fun together. If you have been around here for some time, you may remember when they looked like this.

As my mom used to say..." Life is but a dream!"

My middle two were visiting National Parks, Peyton, and working very hard, Rhett. Rhett stopped in over the weekend, and Peyton sent some beautiful pictures like this one of Mount Rainier.

(Courtesy of Christopher!)

Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape. An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning five major rivers. Subalpine wildflower meadows ring the icy volcano while ancient forest cloaks Mount Rainier's lower slopes. Wildlife abounds in the park's ecosystems.

(I totally looked that up on the website, you know that, right???)

So, while the young people were at the music festival, visiting national parks, or working...Kyrstin, too, the older ones were sitting on the beach watching the waves.

It was so relaxing and calming. And funny, because when we were young and brought the kids to the beach for a week, I literally remember seeing "old" people like Steve and me sitting on the sand in their beach chairs watching the waves. I used to smile and say, "Well, Steve, there we are someday!" With four children, a teenager out in the water, two young ones playing with Sesame Street sand toys, and a baby in a stroller, that someday seemed far off. Now, here we are! And honestly, I wouldn't want it any other way.

Another benefit of being older? Rising with the sun while you are at the beach, and seeing this happen right before your eyes.

And having your daughter whip up a homemade chocolate cake to snack on throughout the weekend. Thanks, Madison!

Have a cozy Monday, my friends. I will be around to visit you this afternoon. And get that candy corn and those jack-o'-lanterns ready! October, the best month of the year, begins soon!

Oh! I have another book for you to read! I loved this one!

  1. What can I say, I always love the pictures – stunning scenery, smiling faces, and happy memories. And Fall Out Boy and Green Day at the same concert…fabulous! It looks like a marvelous time was had by all from the mountains, to the music, to the beach -just as it should be. Enjoy every single minute. I have a sign hanging in the family room that says, “these are the days we’ll remember forever” - so true. As I watch so much of the sadness and chaos in the world-this is the time to hold family close-my friend, you’re doing it just right.

  2. I was a '90's teenager and it amuses me that some of the music from that time is still enjoyed by the teens of today. Love it! I remember when Green Day first became a band. Although, I am at that point where I'd much rather enjoy those scenic views of the beach than a loud concert, so I'll be there to pull up a chair beside you. :-) Have a great week!!!!

I love those photos of Madison and Flynn together. I'm the oldest in our family of 4 kids. My youngest sister was born when I was almost 12. We are very close and love spending time together.

  13. Hi Billie Jo! I love your pictures today, especially snuggly baby Flynn with Madison! One of my boys lived out in Seattle for a few years, so I visited Mt. Ranier a few times. There is actually a Rain Forest at the base. You can drive up that mountain like 8,000 feet, and still have over 6 k of mountain towering above you. It's awesome. Anyway. I enjoyed my visit here, as always, and love that you get that beach time. :)

  14. What a glorious sunrise! Your photos are wonderful of it. And Mount Rainer! I have a blog friend who lives in Washington, and she takes pics of Mount Rainer often. It really does have a halo surrounding it sometimes, and it's so majestic. Loved seeing Madison and Flynn when they were little. I didn't know there was a National Coffee Day! A perfect day for us. The coffee picture is so quaint with the window and the rustic feel. Madison's chocolate cake looks so Yummy. And I LOVE that Snoopy cup. There's just something about that fellow. ; )

I hope your October days are filled with all things good, Billie Jo.

  18. Those beach views are stunning! I told Chuck the other day, "We never got to the ocean this year." The older I get, the more I miss it. That picture of Mt Rainier is so good! We had a very dry summer this year which made for a lot of Rainier sightings! Driving down the freeway, around the bend and there she was! "The mountain is out today!" I'm blessed to live here.

  19. Hello Beautiful! Happy new week to you. Love the weekend events and how you kiddos are so close and love each other so much. :) Those retro pics of Madison and Flynn are so precious!! Isn't Mt. Ranier stunning? My brother was stationed out in WA many years ago and we visited when the kids were young and it is so breathtaking it doesn't look real! And yay for October - the best month of all!! I'm so ready for all things cozy. I wrote down that book - I need to add that to my list asap. Thanks for all you share here - love the time with you always. 🍁🎃💛
