My Shadow by Robert Louis Stevenson
I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.
Some say Mocha is my shadow. I cannot disagree. My Mocha needs me to be in her line of vision every second of the day! If Flynn and I are homeschooling, she is right here. And if not there, she may be found right here.
Biology and World History are her current favorites! If I am in the kitchen, fixing dinner, she keeps an eye on things from her cozy spot near the fireplace.
And when Madison makes amazing chocolate chip cookies, Mocha eyes mine up every time! Madison made these using Ina Garten's recipe, which I will link below.
Mocha loves and tolerates the other dogs in her life, but given the chance, she prefers to hang out with me and the other humans.
You can do that when you are the oldest and consider yourself the most mature!
Have a lovely weekend, my friends! Stay cool, hydrated, and safe from the sun. See you back here on Monday!
Billie Jo
Billie Jo, I loved how you described the companionship of your "little shadow"...and I love all of your dogs. Each one is beautiful! To me, a home is not complete without an animal...or two...or three....or...or...or....! *haha* Those cookies look delicious. I made Ina Garten's recipe for fruitcake cookies one Christmas. Those were wonderful too. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour shadow is a precious one. And yum on the cookies! Have a wonderful weekend -- stay cool, keep hydrated and enjoy it fully, Billie Jo.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable post! Thank you for sharing Mocha with use!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Your little shadow is so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou do have the cutest little shadow. I also have to say Robert Louis Stevenson has always been my favorite poet. As a child I could recite "The Swing" word for word.
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo! I love that poem by Robert Louis Stevenson. I memorized it when I was in elementary school. I love all of Stevenson's poems! Yes, Mocha is your little shadow. That is such a cute picture of all of your puppy children. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteaahh, Mocha is attached to you in every way. She feels so close to you. I told my son the other day that I miss having a dog. That's the cutest picture of her at the end. Flynn's studies sound interesting right now. I've always loved History. Have a blessed weekend, Billie Jo.

My dog Bandit is also my shadow! Your dogs are very, very cute!🥰
ReplyDeleteI love the Mocha story! And I hope the others get equal time. Her fur matches your hair, too! So does she get little bites of human treats? Oh, these big, beautiful eyes. I hadn't thought of this poem in decades! I used to know it when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteOh my sweet little Mocha. Your little companion. Are all those other sweeties yours too. They are each adorable! Madison is a good baker - but none for little Mocha.
ReplyDeleteMocha is a little doll. My Zoey is much like her. Always with me. She is a velcro dog that likes to be touching us at all times. The rest of the crew are just as adorable as Mocha. You have some cuties at your house!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Robert Louis Stevenson has been a favorite of mine since childhood. This poem is great!
ReplyDeleteIna Garten -- I don't watch the Food Network anymore (although I loved it back when my lifestyle made it more easy to include in my routines). Ina has the most wonderful recipes, and I have absolutely no doubt but that her chocolate chip cookies are the best.
Your pups could not be any more cute and they are some of the most photogenic dogs I have ever seen! I love all the snapshots you share of them!
What a perfectly cute shadow you have there! I have two of my own and I'm so grateful for the constant company (but not the constant messes) ha!
