I Can, But I Can't

 Things I can I do:

1. Wash the dishes and clean the kitchen before I am done cooking dinner

2. Eat the exact same thing for lunch every single day

3. Recite my credit card number by heart

4. Name all the mysteries of the rosary

5. Get up at the same time every day without an alarm

6. Open a can with a manual can opener

7. Twirl a baton

8. Wrap presents with pretty paper, fancy ribbon, and bows

9. Read and enjoy almost anything from Hop on Pop to The Iliad and The Odyssey

10. Bake really good brownies

And Things I Can't

1. Change a tire, add wiper fluid, or really anything other than drive a car

2. Sew, knit, crochet, needlepoint, or thread a button (Yes, I'm serious.)

3. Sleep with makeup on

4. Drive a stick shift car

5. Figure a tip or interest in my head

6. Drink from a glass with a chip or crack in it

7. Build a fire from scratch

8. Drink orange juice right after brushing my teeth

9. Eat a bowl of any kind of chili

10. Eat in a restaurant with sticky floors

In case you were curious! How about you, my friends? Anything to add???

Have a cozy Wednesday!

Billie Jo

  1. I like your list of things you can do. I can do several of those too. That is also interesting about the things you can't do. I agree with several of those too. Interesting post.

  2. These are fun facts to know about you. I suppose I would add that I can still ride a bicycle but I can't NOT have our bed made first thing in the morning. Making our bed is the first thing I do even when we stay at a hotel. Crazy, I know... This was fun!!

  3. I liked reading this. I can eat in a restaurant with sticky floors (prefer not) but I can't move my feet once I sit, and I have to clean the bottom of my shoes before I let them touch the interior of the car.

  4. Fun and interesting. I can't drive a stick either, or do any of those other car things!

  5. Hi Billie Jo. I can't drive a stick either. I've tried, but just not something I can do. Can't change a tire or do anything under the hood of a car either, but yes, like you, I can clean up while cooking and I eat just about the same thing for lunch every day. Also, like you, I love reading! This was a fun post. Thanks. Hope your week is going well! See you again soon!

  6. Good lists! The ones about drinking orange juice after brushing teeth, and eating in a place with sticky floors are so true!
I can drive a stick though. :) This was fun, thanks!

  7. NOT STICKY FLOORS _ NOOOOO!!!! LOL
Nope - the orange juice after clean teeth - no way
I've not driven a stick in awhile - I'd love to see if I remember how.
I'm impressed you can remember your CC number - I cant even remember my 3 number on the back of a card!

  8. You always come up with fun posts like this.
I totally agree with the no sticky floors. It really just grosses me out.
I learned to drive on a stick but it's been so long since I've driven one, I'm not sure I still could.

  10. It was fun to read all the things you can and can't do, Billie Jo. Naming all the Mysteries of The Rosary is very special. I used to have a blog friend who ate the same thing for lunch every day. She no longer blogs. There's nothing like batch of good brownies too. I learned how to put power steering fluid in my car and many other car related things when I moved to the mountains. I pretty much had to. I figured out how to leave the right tip many years ago. I forgot who taught me, but I used to eat out a lot when living in the suburbs. I still open a can with a manual can opener. ; ) I'm with you on cleaning the kitchen before eating dinner. My sister sits down to eat and then cleans the kitchen. Isn't it funny how we are all different?

I love your COFFEE blog design. It's so delightful. Home is truly the very best place to be.

  11. Now I want to know what you eat for lunch! I can't drive a stick shift either! Or do any kind of tire changing or wiper fluid. Cannot do anything with a car except drive it. But CAN make a new recipe almost every day since Covid.

  12. I am anonymous, it did not say my name. I made the comment about making new recipes. Ginny

  13. Restaurants with sticky floors yuck! The funny thing is, I HATE sticky! Imagine having 16 kids and hating sticky. Crumbs too, no thank you, not on my floor! Anyway, I can do the tip and interest or percent off in my head, love to wash the dishes as I cook so there's minimal mess after, and I can only drive the car, feel like a bona fide mechanic if I manage to put air in the tires. Can't drive a stick, never tried it. This was fun, love visiting here!

  14. Fun reading your answers. I can drive a stick shift. I learned when we lived in Scotland so learned shifting with my left hand. :). I open cans with a manual can opener too - don't own any other kind. I too get up the same time without an alarm.

  15. I can't go to bed with anything out of place! I never learned how to pump my own gas. Now my husband is sick and I had to do it, so I can pump my own gas! I CAN'T cross my eyes! lol
I can bake the very best chocolate chip cookie and make a delicious buttercream frosting!

I'm not much to others but I'm ok to my family.

  16. My first car was a stick shift and it took me a little while to get the hang of it (and I'm not sure I'd remember what to do now!) and while I know where the washer fluid goes I do struggle to get my hood open. I had my credit card # memorized for years.. and then my card was stolen/compromised and I had to get a whole new card.

  17. How fun! My first car to learn in was a stick shift. I lived in San Antonio where the hills are and was so scared to get stopped at a light and have to work the clutch and break just right so I wouldn't roll back into the person behind me. I've never even attempted to open my own hood, though I've seen it done plenty of times. I wake up up roughly at the same time, way before the alarm, every morning. I make my bed every single day and I clean the kitchen as I go, while cooking. I also require toilet lids to be closed in every bathroom in my house. I can't stand to look inside a toilet and will never understand why anyone would think it's ok to leave the lid up. :) Don't you love the quirks we all have?

  18. Can't drink milk after brushing my teeth. Can't change a tire. Don't care to change a tire. Also cannot crochet but I pretend like I can. I can actually sleep with my makeup on. And usually do. And I am right there with you on number one. Dinner made and the kitchen clean. It's a super power!!:)

  19. Anyone who can drink orange juice after brushing their teeth is superhuman IMO. It just isnt right :) I can do a perfect cartwheel. Xx

  20. I can drive a stick shift and I used to change the oil in the car but haven't for a long time. I can't do a cartwheel or virtually anything athetic besides ride a bicycle. :-)

  21. 3 & 4 are biggies for me! Tommy tried to teach me to drive his stick, in case there was an emergency. I told him that's what the police and ambulances were for.

  22. I can remember all kinds of numbers including my old student act. card # from when I was a at school
I can't walk on stilts (anymore but I used to be able to )

  23. I'm impressed you can swirl a baton! I can't do that. I can go out for a daily run, because I'm disciplined that way : )

  24. Ooof! I took driver's ed at 16 learning on auto transmission, but guess what type car my mom had? So I had to learn stick shift in order to get my license, but at 16 I was highly motivated! I see this as a fun "bucket list" item for you. We never stop learning, right? (:
