Monday Morning Coffee Talk

Good Monday morning! I am on the couch sipping my coffee, which has Pumpkin Spice creamer, thinking about the things I do this time every year. After the Fourth of July, time seems to speed up, and before we know it, summer is a pleasant memory wrapped up in our hearts. Autumn is my favorite, as you may know. Always. As I get older, though, I find the lazy days of summer taking their place in my heart. I am learning to embrace these lovely summer days' slower pace and less structure.

However, every year around this time, I start thinking about things I want to do before I can unpack the tubs of autumn pumpkins and colorful leaves that make our home cozy for fall. I always do my scrapbooking in July or August, so soon, I will haul out my supplies and start that. I print pictures monthly and organize them into piles, so they are ready to go. I also begin looking through Flynn's curriculum and planning the first few months of homeschooling. I actually love doing this! I love sitting with a fresh new planner and all the books and manuals around me. I also start looking for new fall recipes to add to my binder.

This time of year is bliss for an autumn-loving, summer-enjoying person like me. I am reminding myself to live in the moment and enjoy the beautiful days of summer. I am also able to start planning for my favorite time of year. I never understand all the people that say, "Only 12 weeks until Halloween!" I mean, I don't want it to BE Halloween. I want it to be time to think about, plan for, and enjoy all the Halloween things!

Meanwhile, I will enjoy the fresh herbs, vegetables, and visitors of summer.

How about you, my friends? Are you thinking about cozy autumn afternoons yet?
Have a wonderful summer day!
Thanks for visiting!

Billie Jo

  1. Time goes by so quickly that I'm really trying to focus on enjoying each and every moment for what it is.
I love all of the seasons and appreciate what each one offers but Fall and Winter are my favorites. I love the shorter days, the cool air, the coziness of being home and of course all of the holidays.
The ber months will be here soon my friend!! Have a great week.

  2. I'm planning for the longer hikes in Fall and winter when the weather cools. But summer is my favorite time of year so I'm enjoying it a day at a time! Happy Monday!

  4. I totally get the time flying part of summer. But I am trying to do the one day at time thing too and not stress or fret about what is to come. Today started with a summer storm, so it feels dark and gloomy here, autumn like, and embracing that for what it is makes the bright HOT days more tolerable. Just knowing at some point it will kick up a storm and start the cycle over again. Happy Monday!

  6. Hi Billie Jo. I love autumn, but that also means I am back in school, and that is something I am not looking forward to. I want to extend my slower summer pace as long as possible. Have a good week. :-)

  7. Believe it or not, I am thinking about fall here and there. Mainly in terms of cooking. I love summer but admit I do tend to favor the flavors of fall. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  8. Yes, my friend, I've been thinking about cozy Autumn afternoons already. Your post is delightful, Billie Jo. It's nice that you are planning things for Fall and still trying to enjoy the Summer days. I can imagine you getting excited about the new school year for Flynn ahead. Jess starts teaching again in August. Seems like it's sooner each year. I always love your Monday Morning Coffee posts, and look at that sweet visitor you had. Such a pretty duck - looks like a mallard. Have a wonderful week, and your coffee with pumpkin spice creamer sounds perfect to me. : )

  10. Hi Billie Jo - so glad you are enjoying your summer and being content with it all. : ) I remember those new planners and going through everything for homeschooling and how fun it was. I'm not a scrapbooker but I do love paper projects like homemade cards and such - it's a wonderful way to be creative. As always, I love your photos!

Continue to enjoy this time of year and thoughts of Autumn. : )

  12. Yes I'm thinking about it (always) but there is more summer fun to be had first, which is half the fun! That won't stop us from planning or drinking pumpkin spice though, right?! : )

  13. I was in Home Goods today and saw a coffee mug that said "Pumpkin Spice Season" and I immediately thought of you! They had quite a few Halloween and fall decorations out as well and it made me a little sad. My life is literally flying by! So, I'm trying my best to savor it all but it's hard.

  15. Fall is my favorite season! however, the corn is just getting sweet and ripe here, and the tomatoes are yummy, too. I don't have kids at home anymore, so I tend to follow the calendar rather than the school year for fall. I'm seeing some bloggers who are preparing for school days in just a couple weeks!
