Monday Morning Coffee Talk

Good Monday morning, my friends. In the interest of full disclosure, I did replace my morning coffee with a cup of hot water with lemon and a bit of honey. My anxiety has been visiting these past few days, and I find that a reminder to pay better attention to myself. For me, that means less caffeine, less computer time, more prayer and reflection time, and an extra nap to two. And reminding myself that this, too, will pass.

It seems frivolous to focus on ordinary things as the people of Ukraine are literally fighting for their lives, homes, and country. My heart and prayers are with them, even as I go about my daily life. This includes preparing for Mardi Gras tomorrow, followed by Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.

I hope you have a cozy Monday, my friends. I will be around to visit soon!

  2. I noticed yesterday (folks coming in to work) that the church here is already celebrating Ash Wednesday. Alot of folks coming in with ash on their foreheads...warmed my heart...truly. I hope you have a beautiful day, Billie Jo.

It's hard not to feel anxious with all that is going on around us. Praying for Ukraine.

  5. I have friends who have many family and friends serving as missionaries in the Ukraine. They asked us to pray for the church over there every time we hear the country mentioned. I guess they have a very strong and thriving church and send the second most missionaries out of all the European countries. Who knew? The church asks for prayers as many are heading into other countries as refugees that they would have opportunity to share the gospel. These are some very strong, very committed Christians!

  6. Oh, my friend, Ukraine has me so upset. All I can do is pray and I will add you to my prayers. It is hard to stay up, when you think of the suffering.

  11. Hi Billie Jo. I have been struggling with anxiety this past week too, which is why I haven't been sleeping well. I will remember you in my prayers. I have been praying for Ukraine and fasted both Saturday and Sunday and will continue my prayers as Lent begins. I am not Catholic, but I will be abstaining from meat this Wednesday and chocolate all during Lent, while continuing to pray from the brave and strong people of Ukraine. Sending you virtual hugs from Utah.

  13. It could be the situation in Ukraine is bothering you like it is bothering a lot of us and showing up in the form of anxiety. It is terrible what they are going through. God please take care of them.

  14. I think it's wonderful how you know yourself so well Billie Jo. And take such great care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon.
My heart is breaking over Ukraine too and the folks of Russia that want to avoid all of this too and don't get a say. Our world needs the Lord's Light and Love more everyday and I pray to be used in any ways I can help to spread His Light and cast out every dark shadow. 🙏

Having pancakes tonight and preparing for Ash Wednesday tomorrow and Lent as well. I don't know that there's ever felt like a more appropriate time for a ture looking inward, prayer and reflection. I keep the faith of His love and goodness always.
I hope you have a blessed week ahead. xo

  16. Your green candle is perfect for St. Patrick's Day coming up. I don't usually put too much out for that day. My kids are all part Irish on their Father's side, and it's such a wonderful holiday. So, I pretend I'm Irish that day too. A little hot water and lemon goes a long way. That sounds so nice and relaxing. And a sweet picture of your dog. This is a terrible time right now in Ukraine, and I especially feel for the precious children.
