Green Card Happy!

Yesterday was a big day for these two, my firstborn child and her dear Danish husband. The amount of pride and admiration I have for these two young people is immeasurable. After months of hard work, preparation, organization, and commitment, Nicolas was approved for his Green Card yesterday!

This gives him the opportunity to live and work here in the United States and apply for citizenship in the future. And that is something that makes us all very happy! It is also something these two young people do not take for granted. The process was long and detailed, from documenting the proof of their relationship through texts and photos and emails to answering questions from an immigration official to filling out hundreds of pages of forms, they worked together.

Motherhood is something, isn't it? One day you bring a tiny, helpless person into this big, wide world, and before you know it, because of the love and care you provide, that baby is a mature, responsible, amazing adult, living his or her own life, filled with the values you instilled. How much more could a parent ask?

Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends.
Thanks for visiting!

  1. You did a great job Billie Jo!!! I fear that now days kids are not being raised to be self-sufficient or responsible-they are being coddled and parents are taking care of everything FOR them. They are still relying on their parents well into the 30s and 40s - not sure when that tide changed.

  4. Hi Billie Jo!

What wonderful news, congratulation, Nicholas and Madison!! I know how hard they worked for that status, and I know it wasn't easy. I used to work for an attorney who did a lot of immigration work, and it truly was hard work!

You have amazing kids, because you and your husband are amazing parents. It's hard to watch them grow up, but, love conquers all...great job mom!!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

  8. My father would always go speak to school children about his citizenship and how much it meant to him. But he still cried when the Swedish or Norwegian anthems were played. He came over after the 2nd world war to get his masters at Berkley.
