I am not advocating waiting until your child is in preschool to potty train. After all, that is not always an option. It just so happens that with Flynn, I was older. I was tired. I was more relaxed. And she is my baby. I was really in no hurry to have her grow up. But darn it, she did. And she went to the potty when she was ready.
We weren't even trying. I gave that up over a year ago. Wednesday night she just told Peyton she had to go. And she did. And then she said she wanted to wear underpants. And she did. And that was that. My baby is a big girl. I'm going to have to remind myself of that. Or maybe not. : )
Daddy was so proud of his girl he came home with some treats!
Way to go, Flynn! Good job mommy :)
ReplyDeleteShe is so adorable. I love kit-kats too! Congrats on being a "big girl"! sniff sniff..you are right, mama, they do grow up way too fast.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great mama, bloggy friend. blessings to you.
Way to go Flynn!!! Yup, maybe b/c I became a mom for the first time at 35...and the last time at 41...I just don't find potty training to be that big of a deal. They do it when they're ready! Period. It's the folks that post how frustrated they are with their 2-year old having accidents that get my panties in a bunch...pun intended! LOL
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you though! If she wore pull-ups like Ben and Mary did, you have to ask yourself...what am I going to do with that extra $10. :) hehehe
I hated potty training! Both of my girls were so stubborn when it came to it and nobody tells you how horrible and hard it is! Happy for you that you don't have to buy any more diapers but I feel your sadness that your last little one is growing up :(
ReplyDeleteGreat job Flynn!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking I'll have to do this with Joseph too. He seemed interested at first and now nothing. People keep telling me I need to potty train him so I won't have three in diapers, but I'm thinking he just isn't ready yet. I think many people think that since he is only eleven months younger than Lucia, he should be doing every thing she is doing, but he's just not at that point yet. That's why I decided to only do pre-k with Lucia and wait another year for Joseph. They may be close in age, but they are still a year apart and I just don't want him to always feel compared to his sister. Sorry for going on so long about that. Your post just reminded me of it. God Bless!
Way to go Flynn!! So proud of you. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one! With my first, I was trying to get her "trained" before her baby sister was born at 17 1/2 months...per the advice of my mother-in-law. You don't want two in diapers - heard that over and over. Well, I gave up and waited a couple months and let her take the lead. Now, #6 potty trained herself at just over 3 years old because she wanted to be a big kid. My #7 is 19 months and I have NO DESIRE to start the process until he wants to do it. I am older, more tired, and a tad bit wiser...don't you wish that you started motherhood out that way?!?
ReplyDeleteI so feel you. Why push, it only causes stress! Good job both of you!
ReplyDeleteyeah for Flynn!! and you too mama! we are so much wiser by this time in our mommyhood aren't we?!:) we too had to "ignore" some helpful voices and do it in our own time....which is really how you want most lessons to be when you think about it right?!:) so glad this milestone was an easy one! don't you with they all could be?!:) ha
ReplyDeletehave a happy day billie jo
Way to go, Flynn!
ReplyDeleteWhy is daddy always the most happy when a little one is potty trained? Is it the not buying diapers anymore...I sure don't know but it makes me smile! :) So happy for you little Flynn! Don't worry Billie Jo, she's still little!
ReplyDeleteYay! good for her and you! I can see why it would be bittersweet. I agree that the more parenting years I have behind me the easier it is to let things go. (hard for me since I'm a control freak) Enjoy the extra change in your pocket with no more diapers/pull ups!
ReplyDeleteYay Flynn! Potty training is so much work but I found with my last that I did not worry about it as much as I did with the other two.
