Would You Believe

I would rather go to the dentist than go shopping. Seriously. Being in a store surrounded by all the things and people and things makes me feel overwhelmed and anxious. I have never enjoyed it. And I am beyond thankful for the advent of online shopping as an option today. Steve, however? Not so much.

I have never received a traffic ticket. However, one time in high school, I was stopped by a very kind officer who informed me I was going well over fifty-five mph, to which I readily agreed. Then he told me that the speed limit in that area was thirty-five mph. I was with my best friend, Jenn, and we were going to McDonald's. It was the first time my Dad allowed me to drive outside the town limits. I tried to explain to the officer that I was sorry and would be more careful. I said all the things you say when you are seventeen, and your Dad lets you take the car out of town the first time. The officer must have been a parent because he let me off with a warning. Jenn still wanted to go to McDonalds, even though I couldn't even think of eating! When I got home, Dad was there and asked about my time. I started telling him how great it was, and then I couldn't stand it anymore. I broke out sobbing and told him the whole thing! He listened and asked me if I learned anything that day. I had. And to this day, I check my speed in that area and think of my Dad. When we were all done talking, he smiled and said he knew all about it long before I was home. I had not taken my license, another strike, so when the officer ran my name through the system, all my Dad's friends, who listened to the police scanner for entertainment, heard and called him long before I got home!

I do not like ketchup. At all. In fact, I have never personally put ketchup on anything. I love tomatoes. Do not love ketchup. I will eat it if it is already on something ~ Hello, Mcdonald's cheeseburger ~ But I cannot imagine willingly adding it to anything. If Steve makes burgers, I eat them totally plain. Hotdogs? Plain, or if I feel extra festive, mustard and chopped onions. Don't even get me started on relish!

I am sure your day is complete now that you know these random facts about me. So, on this lovely ordinary day, I am off to do beautifully mundane things. First, though, a few pictures from my camera roll on my phone because they are too sweet not to share. Have a lovely Wednesday, my friends!

Remember when your kids were young and followed you everywhere? I miss that. These dogs are helping, though.

More pictures from Steve on his walk.

And best friends for life.

Happy Wednesday!

Billie Jo

  2. The fawns! They are the sweetest.
I love the way your dad handled that traffic stop. I'm surprised they put it over the scanner though, must have included your name?
I'm not a fan of shopping either. Online is great for me.

  3. I'm with you on the grocery shopping, or just being out in general. I'm an introvert and would rather sit in the comfort of my own home. My husband tells me it's a probably and I have to learn to be around people. He's the outgoing one. Maybe that's why I enjoy blogging so much. I can interact with people without actually being out facing them ... lol. I've had four speeding tickets in my life, and my dad is a retired police officer. I never got a warning, no fair! I also got pulled over because I was past due on the inspection ... oops. I know plenty of people who do not like ketchup. I do, though. Depending on what it's on. I went through a phase of putting ketchup on hotdogs but now it's only mustard, the way I was raised. Hope you have a good rest of the week. I enjoy reading your posts, even the random facts. It's a great way to get to know you more.

  4. Love the deer and your pups photo. I was given a ticket for speeding when I was pregnant! I'm not big on ketchup either. Enjoy your day.

  5. We have two things in common; crowds and ketchup. Definitely not speeding tickets, I have received plenty of those but it's been a while. Love those fawn pictures!

  6. Those pups!! How do they all even get under there?? Too funny - and cute! I like ketchup but no thank you to tomatoes!! I didn't see that end to your speeding story. I can't imagine the horror of my name/address being called out on the scanner. That would have sent my teenage self into a spin, for sure. Probably never would have driven two miles over the limit again!! Oh, and I don't like crowds but I REALLY don't like the dentist - ugh!!

  7. Dearest Billie Jo,
Lovely story about your speeding and your wise Dad.
Those puppies love to hide under the furniture—their cave.
And encountering such fawn is precious.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  8. Oh Billie Jo, I smiled with your story, as it sounds very much like a story I went through in high school, only a different incident. But when I got home, I bravely told my dad and was crying and nervous and feeling awful, and I think he thought that was punishment enough haha. Isn't that something you don't like ketchup. They really make those McDonald's cheeseburgers, don't they? That is the cutest picture of the pups under the dresser. And great pictures Steve took of the fawn. You get the spotted deer in your area, and I've never seen those here. It's so nice to get to know you better through these posts, my friend.

  9. Hi Billie Jo! Fun post! I love the cute pictures of your puppies. I'm with you about shopping - it is not fun for me at all. When I go to the store, I just want to get in and out as quickly as possible. I got one speeding ticket in Arizona - long story - but that's the only ticket I ever got - and it really wasn't even my fault! (Yeah, that's what they all say). It's so cool that you have so many fawns come to visit your yard. I hope your week is going well! See you again soon.

  10. I also hate shopping. And I have never gotten pulled over, a ticket or in an accident. I am a overly safe driver in fact. But I do love ketchup, but only Heinz.

  11. I love the Billie Jo trivia knowledge! :) The story about speeding was really sweet. I bet your Dad still chuckles in heaven. 💗 I wish I didn't love shopping so much!!! 😁 And I also differ in that I love me some ketchup too. 😉 Love the pics, especially all the poochies together.
    Blessings. xo

  12. I'm not a fan of ketchup, I do like mustard sometimes. Not a fan of shopping unless it involves cross stitch (no crowds) and am happy to shop online. I enjoyed your story about driving and being pulled over. Awesome pictures especially of the fawn trio!

  13. Oh my gosh, the sweet dogs peeking out from under the cabinet is such an awesome shot! Cuter than cute! Your Dad sounds like such a wise man, kind and gentle!

  14. that is the cutest pictures of the doggies peeking out from underneath the furniture. Soooo sweet! Ketchup is a MUST around here. I eat ketchup on my pizza!! I know...I know! Kinda weird. My grandkids think that ketchup is a must as well. They eat it on their Mac and cheese!
I'll move on from the ketchup before I gross you out. I love retail therapy....my girls and I enjoy shopping together. The little fawns are adorable. I enjoyed reading the random facts about you. Sweet Blessings.

  15. My goodness, what an interesting (and personally revealing!!!) post you've written here. I feel we could be good friends but I have to say, I don't mind shopping (although I MUCH prefer to shop by myself. I LOVE ketchup. and mustard, and relish.... The picture of your pups under the furniture is adorable. The story of the speeding.... my husband is a former military security cop, so he smiled and nodded when I read that portion of your post to him. Thank you for sharing yourself with us.

  16. What a good lesson you learned that day!
Your dogs are very sweet, they give a warmth to the house.
    The deer are incredible.
Have a beautiful day Billie Jo!

  17. Love the triplet fawns. We have twins that come here with their mom and also two little ones with their moms.
I've been stopped a FEW times but never have gotten a ticket for speeding.

  18. Loved hearing your encounter with the police! I'm not a ketchup fan either, but I do enjoy mustard on brats and burgers and hot dogs. Darling pup photos as well as Steve's deer photos! Have a great evening.

  19. Our middle daughter hates tomatoes but loves ketchup. We truly are wonderfully made! I loved your 'first time driving out of town' story. Good thing you confessed! I've never had a ticket either. Although I was in an accident when I was 16. I had to reschedule my date for traffic court because I was on a three-week trip with the band and drill team. We won first place in Calgary, Canada. She had seen our picture in the paper and decided to dismiss the ticket. :)

  20. Awwwwwwww.....my sweet Dad always listened to the scanner for fun. Ordinary days are my favorite!

  21. Ok, I had to giggle at the police scanner and everyone hearing your name :) When I met my husband, he worked as a news photographer and he always had a scanner. It was a good way to stay caught up on the news! And finally, Billie Jo, we found a difference between the two of us...the way we fix our hot dogs! I love mayo, ketchup, and I chop up sweet and spicy pickles into relish-size pieces and sprinkle those on my hot dog. Yum! Oh well, we can't be twins about everything :) hahahaha!

  22. I have a ketchup quirk, too. I don't like cold ketchup and I think it tastes better from the little restaurant packets than in the bottle, LOL! I know it doesn't make any sense, but...

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love the photos of the fawns. So precious!
I have never received a traffic ticket either, but I would be embarrassed to tell you how many times I've been stopped. I'm very lucky!

  24. I'm also not a big fan of shopping. I really only shop out of necessity. I'd much rather shop for kitchen/house stuff (Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, etc.) than clothes. Speaking of clothes - jeans are the worst for me. I can try on twenty pairs of jeans and leave with nothing. If you have a favorite brand, I'd love to know about it! I'm not a big fan of crowed places either. And I'm also not a big fan of ketchup and tomatoes in general. I don't like mayo or mustard either. So yeah, my burgers and sandwiches are rather plain. That's the sweetest picture of the pups peaking out from under to furniture. They are all so precious! Hope you are having a cozy, summer day!

  25. I don't like grocery shopping either. I wouldn't go near one, if I could live without food. LOL

  26. Thanks for the many smiles, Billie Jo. Wishing you a beautiful weekend. smiles

  27. What a memory from your young driving days. How funny that your dad already had the heads up (and how). He sounds like a kind father. I don't like ketchup on anything really, either, but I do like to dip crispy french fries in it. I always ask for it to be left off of hamburgers. And mayo. I developed a late appreciation for mayo for certain occasions (mainly chicken salad and egg salad - I came late to those, too), but please don't put it on a hamburger or fish or chicken sandwich. Blech.

  28. I completely understand the whole shopping thing. Besides food shopping, I only do it if absolutely necessary :)
