Friday On Thursday Night

Is it me? Or are these weeks passing at an obscenely fast pace? How in the world is it almost Easter when last week was Christmas?? I am reminded of something my father told me as I lamented how horribly long the winter months were when, as a sixteen-year-old sitting in Physics class, I wished it were time for the prom. He told me not to wish my life away because the older you get, the faster it goes. My goodness, was he right. And by the way, has anyone ever really understood why we had Physics class? Have I ever utilized anything I learned tried to learn there?

It is Thursday night, and I am snuggled on the couch, watching the first round of March Madness. You won't usually find me watching college sports, but when March Madness rolls around, I am all in! I enjoy the games and the stories behind some of the players. I also like to cheer for the underdogs, although I hate to see anyone lose.

The weekend will be quiet here, as we expect over an inch of rain on Saturday. We plan on mass and then getting dinner to take to the condo and spend a couple nights there watching the waves and some more basketball. I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friends. Before I go, here is a little wrap-up of our week with a few pictures from my camera roll!

Rhett was so happy when he met his favorite gamer at a tournament in Florida! His smile says it all!

The dogs got haircuts, and Mocha was consoled with a new little lamb toy. I think they had trouble getting her face even, so they just kept going!

Cosmo seemed happy and content with his cut. Maybe because he could actually see!

This week, we had some cold weather, so I made one of Rhett's favorite meals. It is so simple and so good! I will link the recipe down below.

Now, here is my new favorite lunch. At first glance, you may think you are seeing pancakes. You would be wrong! I had a loaf of French bread and decided to make some mini grilled cheese sandwiches. They were delicious! I used The Original Laughing Cow Cheese and a small slice of fresh cheese on each one. I used whatever cheese I had, and I think it may have been Gouda. Or not. But I am sure whatever you have will be good.

And what is a week without a picture of my Mom? She is honestly the best.

Have a lovely weekend, my friends!

  1. I know what you mean about time passing. I just said to Dennis yesterday, "How on earth can it be Thursday and time for Bible Study again? We just had it last night!" Our daughter-in-laws Dad has a silly saying about it too. "Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end, the fast it goes!" Very appropriate. We had a March Madness game played here last night and traffic and restaurants were crazy busy.
The puppies are oh so cute with their new haircuts. I would love to hug them and give them lots o f loves. My Zoey is curled up next to me under a blanket as I type this. The unconditional love of a dog is a wonderful thing. :-)
Your weekend plans sound wonderful. We used to go to the Oregon coast to watch the winter storms roll in. It was a sight to behold, showing the power and majesty of the God who controls it all.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

I love seeing pictures of your puppies and your mom. Keeping it real and full of love is the best part of stopping by!

  3. I used bits of whatever cheese was around in a potato recipe this week. It was so good and can never be repeated due to the unknown cheese bits. We will try again with what’s available though!

  4. Roast chicken is one of our favorite comfort foods too! Your mom is so precious, such a sweet smiling face! I hope you are enjoying your weekend, there is nothing like the waves to soothe the soul! I agree - time passes so much faster the older I am! Slow down, indeed!

  5. I think winter is passing quickly too, but it can go even quicker - it's been snowing all day here!
Love the pictures. Isn't it a blessing to be able to say our parents are/were the best. Many people don't feel that way.

  6. Sounds like a perfect weekend for snuggling in. We have a blizzard headed our way. Ugh! But I know Spring has already been happening and that this snow won't last long. So going to embrace it with cozy activities of reading, cross-stitch and even some home organization. Blessings dear Friend xoxo

  8. Hi Billie Jo. Yes, time does seem to go faster the older you get. Thanks for the chicken recipe, which gives me an idea for Sunday dinner. Fun pictures from this week! I hope you have a good weekend at the beach. See you again soon!

  9. Your mom looks so good! Glad she is happy and smiling! And the doggy haircuts are precious! They are so cute after a fresh grooming. Hope you all enjoy your weekend at the beach. I'm sure it will be wonderful! I'll have to show my gamer son that picture and see if he recognizes him.

  10. I woke up saying the same thing about it being the weekend AGAIN already! Why has March moved so quickly?? Your meals look delicious and the puppies are adorable, as always. Have fun watching March Madness, which I've never seen. We have been thoroughly enjoying The Voice this season. So much fun! Have a great weekend!

  12. You couldn’t be more right - it definitely all goes too quickly. How can a quarter of the year be gone already? ? I remember hearing : “Time flies whether we’re having fun or not”. So let’s spend our days doing the simple things that bring us joy – curling up with the pups, getting cozy in a soft blanket, or an afternoon nap. 💜

  13. I think I would have loved to have taken conceptual physics in highschool. Not a course heavy on math, but the concepts are fascinating. And yes! French bread makes the best grilled cheese. If you have any available where you live try making grilled cheese with slices of Everything French Bread. Walmart sells it here at the best price. Truly, it's the best!

  14. That chicken and gravy meal looks sooooo good. And how cute the pups are with their cuts. You know, there's something about a lamb stuffed animal that fills our hearts with joy. I saw one the other day, and wanted to buy it for myself! haha. This is a dear picture of your mom. You know, she raised a wonderful daughter.
