The Love Of A Lifetime

My Dad and Mom today
The day we began Hospice Care for him
He was surrounded by the love of his life...my beautiful Mother
And the testament of that love...his five daughters
On this day, Dementia did not win
Dad was there with us
He smiled and laughed and joked
He knew we were there
He knew he was loved
He held our hands and
He knew
We don't know when God will call him home
But I will remember this day forever
I will be thankful for this day forever
The day we filled that room with love
The love of a lifetime
And he knew.

  2. Billie Jo, how wonderful that you can see the beauty in a day like today. I'm glad that love was your take-away and that the feeling was so strong. I imagine it was one of those times where you can see and feel the purpose of this life with the anticipation of reaching the next. God bless your family.

  14. Hi Bille Jo! What a touching photo...and a bittersweet day. Of course you want your Dad to be well taken care of, but I'm sure there's some sadness too.
You are very brave to share this with all of us. I really appreciate your honesty. And what a gift that your Dad was so clear and appreciate his surroundings, and all of you. God is so good.

You are in my prayers my friend,
    Ceil
