Monday Morning Coffee Talk

Good Monday morning! I hope your weekend was restful and cozy. It was here. We didn't have any place to go, and we decided to watch mass on television, so I stayed in my cozy clothes all weekend long! I did some meal planning, made a grocery order, and threw in a couple of loads of laundry too. I tried a new creamer, which I highly recommend, by the way. And I made a pan of brownies to round out the weekend, which I took to Madison and Nicolas' house, where they hosted us for a delicious dinner in honor of Draper's third birthday!

Before I forget...Happy Get To Know Your Blog Friends Week! Ok. I made that up. But seriously, that should be a thing. We could each post about things we don't think most people know about us. Just for fun. Like...

1. I am really, really good at baton twirling.

2. I cannot stand to be hot and sweaty. Or hot. Or sweaty.

3. I am a horrible singer. Like, the worst.

4. I love reading literature like The Canterbury Tales and Dante's Inferno.

5. I love Who's The Boss and know every episode.

6. I strongly dislike romantic comedies and Hallmark movies.

7. I will not eat chili. Ever. I can't explain it.

8. I was diagnosed with OCD about ten years ago.

9. I will proudly tell anyone about my treatment for it.

10. I floss every single day. And I will only use a soft bristle toothbrush!

Well, Mocha has had enough, so I will end it here. Feel free to share as many things about yourself as you want in the comments or on your blog. I look forward to reading them! Have a great Monday. Quiet here with homeschool, Enchilada Casserole for dinner, and The Bachelor before bed!

Thanks for visiting!

Billie Jo

  1. Your weekend sounds pretty much like mine. I even took a nap on Saturday, which I rarely do. It was heavenly.

A few things most people don't know about me...
My nail polish and toe nail polish HAS to match.
I will try pretty much any food, except for organs. NOPE, won't do it.
Unless it is absolutely freezing, I sleep with one leg out from under the covers.
If it hadn't been for my two grandmothers, I wouldn't be half the person I am.

    Have a great week!!

    1. Love your love of your grandmothers. I have a wall of photos of loved ones in our dining room, and every morning I tell my grammies Good Morning!

  2. That sounds like a great weekend!
I'l have to think about "things people don't know about me". It's not that I don't have things I don't post about, but I'm not sure I want those things out in the open ;-)
I loved Who's the boss when it was on TV (gosh, that's so long ago!), but I haven't been able to find it on a streaming service.

  3. I am really good at baton twirling too, it was SUCH a thing when I was a kid. I remember picking one up a few years ago and shocking my kids that I was actually good at something ha. Now, you don't even see them for sale anymore.
I don't do hot and sweaty either, if I'm outside in the summer I want to be in the water.
    3. I am also a terrible singer, but that does not stop me from belting out the oldies, and church songs, with all my heart, while cleaning the house.
    4. I like reading Charles Dickens...I've read Great Expectations at least three times. I also love John Steinbeck...'
    5. I like Psyche, because I like a good stupid laugh.
    6. Hallmark movies are only fun to watch with my kids as we rip them apart.
    7. I will eat chili, but NOT with beans, I will eat around them.
I love dark gloomy days, staying home, rocking babies to sleep, and having the house full of family and friends. I also love being home alone (I think I do anyway, it's only happened a few times ha). Billie Jo, love your blog!

I love BLUEBLOODS and have memorized. I only have Hulu and Netflix…no regular tv with commercials…I watch new episodes on CBS on iPad. I loved teaching C Tales and was known as the Shakespeare guru. Studied a month in DC at the Folgers Shakespeanre…a month in Mass. at Shakespeare and Co. And two times in England. Graduated with degree in 1994 in my forties…Masters age almost sixty…and almost a doctorate…I have lived in Florida two years…air conditioning makes it not much different than Indianapolis where I lived three years or WV or OHIO or South Carolina. I have moved 31 times. I love your book!,,,I do not have Hallmark movies but like them. I owned a Hallmark store before teaching. I love music. Love it…can’t sing. Love your blog. Thank you for avoiding politics and making it reader friendly.

  5. We had a busy weekend! Today, I'm going to take a breath and get caught up on house stuff.

    Let's see, about me:
I'm watching "Friends" for the very first time. Binging on it, really. I find most of it so funny, I'm laughing out loud. And some of it really dumb. But, I keep watching:)
After years of having hot flashes, I love being cold and wearing sweaters and turtlenecks again ;)
I don't like watermelon. At all.
I insist on having my house orderly and tidy, but my desk is a disaster.
    I'm a chatty introvert.
I am the mother of a recovering addict.
I have a drawerful of blank journals. All shapes and sizes, so when the spirit moves me, I can choose one to write in.
I pay absolutely no attention to makes and models of cars. I couldn't tell you what my friends and family drive. Just the color. Maybe.

    1. Hello there! And yes, I am looking forward to being cold again!! Watermelon is a no for me as well. It is like too sticky or something!

  6. I am surprised somehow and somehow not that you are not a fan of romantic comedies and Hallmark movies. Think I'm going to take your "get to know your blog friends week" and make a post of it. :) Thanks for the inspiration. Hope you have a great night and wonderful week!

  7. Hummmm... well here i go: I only make right turns in my car. I never cross 4 lanes of traffic. I plan my trips in town to avoid left turns. I peel my pickles, the skin can be a bit tough and chewy. I can't eat corn mixed up with other stuff. I have to eat my corn separately. If you ever were the last kid off the school bus you would understand why corn can be traumatic. My mom was a terrible cook and for years I thought mashed potatoes came from a box. I laughed at this!!! ~jackie~

  8. I clearly need my eyes testing, because I read your creamer as 'Planet Cat'!
Much as I love Christmas, it can be a stressful time of year for me, as I have a beard phobia :)
I really REALLY dislike feeling even the slightest bit cold.
I can do a perfect cartwheel.

  9. To you and all the ladies who wrote comments, I absolutely adored reading them, smiling and nodding yes, as I have so much in common with them. I too had a baton when I was about ten, and was pretty good at it, or at least I thought so. ~smile~
Here goes a few things about me.
I like to walk in the rain.
I go to bed thinking about my first cup of brewed coffee I'm going to have in the morning.
I like to sleep in a cold bedroom with lots of covers.
I used to be OCD, but age took care of that, ever so often it tries to come back, but my body says, "no way".
I'm not much for watching Hallmark movies, but do enjoy Blue Bloods, the one thing I really like about this family, is that they share Sunday meals, and say grace together!
Thanks for the opportunity to share, you always bring so much encouragement.

  10. I'm concerned about you! No chili and no Hallmark? I love both!
I don't like to be hot or sweaty either, and I don't like to be cold!
I love good smells and often have a candle burning. I get a tad bit OCD about organizing. I love to take pictures and drive my husband crazy because I stop on the side of the road to do it.
I'm a country girl, not a fan of city busyness.
I like many types of music and sing just ok.
    I play piano.
I love trying new recipes and my waistline shows it. :)

  11. Hello Dear Billie Jo! I love that creamer too - isn't it delicious!?! I'll have to get it next time I get groceries as I haven't had in a while. I've been on a vanilla almond milk creamer kick. When I make it in my frother...it kind of tastes like marshmallow topping in my coffee. Yum. I love learning more about you! I don't know that I remembered about the baton twirling?? I think we need a video of that. 😉 Also, the chili thing intrigues me? Did chili ever do something to you? And do you judge me that I love Hallmark movies? 🙈
I will do a post like this on my blog this week. Love it! xoxo

  13. So much fun reading over these...I love learning more about one another. I've been thinking of posting something similar. Oh BIllie Jo - great minds as they say!!

Let's see...once upon a time I was a cookbook editor, I cry easily, and when I'm working outside alone, the headphones go on and I will soon be dancing/singing in the garden (yes, scary, I know). I'll think up some more and do a blog post...what a fun idea. And Jules, you're not alone...I read CAT Creamer, too...I had to actually pull up the photo and zoom in - oh my.

  14. Oh my goodness, all the comments! :) How fun!! Well, first off...no chili??? My mind is trying it's hardest to understand :)

But, as for me, here goes...
I never test drive any car we buy before we buy it. I only drive cars that I own and I hate when other people drive my car and mess with the seats.

I've been watching The Bachelor and Bachelorette for 24 years!

I don't like shows about the Bible or Jesus, because I don't trust them.

I was pretty good at the baton when I was younger :)

Every few weeks I unfollow people that I previously followed on IG and wonder why in the world did I follow them in the first place? Just brain overload that I can't handle.

I don't have OCD, but maybe a little? I can't stand for my livingroom to be out of place. Every pillow needs to look nice and placed properly on the couch and chairs and every blanket just the way I like it. So maybe I have an issue :)

I go around behind my grandkids and pick up toys if they aren't playing with them.

I can't quit buying books, no matter how hard I try and then I walk around overwhelmed at how many books I haven't read (that I own).

Ok, now you know what a weirdo I am :)

Years ago when I first started blogging there were always other bloggers that 'featured' you and would have you answer all sorts of questions about yourself. I am like you with not liking romantic comedies or Hallmark movies (thought I was a lone fox on that one)...also-dislike chili and I don't like being hot and sweaty either. lol. 16. I saw Planet Cat and laughed! I have dealt with depression and anxiety but am much better now. I do like Hallmark, especially When Calls the Heart. Hubby and I have been watching Survivor for 20 years! He is a bit OCD. I like chili but can't eat too much because of heartburn. My favorite books are historical Christian fiction. We also take advantage of church online on occasion. enjoy your week! You should start up a Meme that we can link too and visit each other's blogs.

Love to knit and crochet, I love cooking and baking. I hate any ride at a theme park that leaves the ground or spins super fast!! I love cats, my grandchildren, my sons and hubby. I hate mean, spiteful, hateful people. Why lose your peace on things like that?

That's cool that you can twirl the baton so well. What a fun post, Billie Jo. I may or may not do this on my blog. It was good to hear about what you like and dislike. And I'll have to try that creamer sometime.

  24. Dearest Billie Jo,
Just landed here from reading Sheri's blog post today.
You posted this on my Birthday—a special day.
So far, both of us have never found time to watch movies... We lived a very busy life and working in all continents so often we were 'in the air' on our way to work.
It didn't make any sense to watch any series on TV either as we had to leave so often.
Now we're retired and finally catching up on life at HOME.
I've worked hard on digitalizing everything to archive it and for my Pieter to relive before it would be too late.
In July of 2020 I've published our book by self publishing for worldwide print on demand for leaving behind all our expertise.
    Hugs,
    Mariette
