My Oldest And My Youngest

So this happened. The other night, Steve, Peyton, Rhett, and I went to see the movie Mockingjay Part 2. And yes, it was amazing. But that is not what this is about. This is about what happened while we were gone. My oldest and my youngest had a special night together. Just the two of them. Madison got a gingerbread house kit for the two of them to do together. And when we arrived home, I walked in and saw two of my children...my firstborn and my baby standing proudly side by side with their sweet gingerbread houses. I can't really explain the feeling I had in my heart at that moment. It was as if I saw a piece of my life before my eyes. The baby I had so many years ago teaching and helping and loving the one I had just a few years ago. Maybe it is the season, or just that I am getting older, but that moment touched my heart in a very special way. Oh, and did I mention Madison also helped Flynn make Christmas tree ornaments out of popsicle sticks and buttons too? It was a good night. And once again, I realized how quickly life passes. And to savor every moment. : ) Madison snapped a few pictures on her phone, so I would be able to keep some memories of their special night together.

  10. So sweet...love those girlies of yours. But what is even sweeter to me is that you don't miss a thing. Not a single cherished moment in your family, whether you're in the house with them or not. You find the treasures in even the tiniest of moments that some of us might overlook. I am so grateful for your perspective and the way you see the world, and especially for the priority that you put on motherhood and family. I just love you!
