Photos On A Friday

Hello, my friends. Is it me, or did this week pass in a blur? May is like that. One day we wake up, everything is green, and we realize that summer is just about here! Add to that all the activities that May brings, and it seems like a whirlwind of finishing up some things while preparing for so many others. Flynn and I are finishing up homeschooling for the year, and we will miss it! Some years click more than others, and this year clicked!

My confidence in choosing a curriculum has evolved over the years to the point that I feel very comfortable teaching the required subjects in a way I know will allow her to truly understand the information as opposed to memorizing it for the sheer purpose of passing a test, and forgetting it as we move on. One of the most wonderful moments of teaching and parenting is seeing your child's eyes light up with understanding and comprehension. We have some great discussions at the kitchen table, and I am already hard at work planning our days for next year.

Flynn has undoubtedly enjoyed seventh grade partly because she has a classmate. One that seems to make it to class before she does and is always waiting for her to begin.

In other news, I found this little guy this week,

which brought back memories of these...

If you have read here for a while, you may remember Flynn's love of these yellow flowers. If not, I wrote a post about it, and you can find it right HERE. And HERE. And HERE. And she brought me one this year too!

Madison took this beautiful shot from our deck last week.

As I was posting it here, this came up on my phone from an app I have, and it fits perfectly.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
Thanks for visiting!

Random Photos On A Friday

Hello and happy Friday, my friends. This past week started out slowly and gradually picked up steam! Monday and Tuesday were ordinary, cozy days at home. I helped Madison at her bridal boutique Wednesday and then visited with my sweet Mamma. Afterward, we met at our little local ice cream place for dinner. More on that later. Thursday, I had my annual skin check with the dermatologist. Thankfully it went well, and I left feeling good. And now, time for my PSA about wearing sunscreen! Please wear it. Everyday. Remember your face. I am a testament that someone who hates the sun and avoids it like a vampire can and did get skin cancer. Ok. Because we have to drive a bit to get to the dermatologist, Steve and I treat ourselves to lunch. This time it was Panera. And it was good! I had half a grilled cheese sandwich with chips and, not pictured but equally delicious, some Papaya Passion Green Tea. Then it was back home to shower and put on my cozy clothes. Does anyone else love coming home, showering, and putting on fresh, clean clothes just to sink into the couch and breathe a sigh of relief? Or is it just me?

This little lady was patiently waiting for me to get home.

Another book recommendation? You bet! This was a new author for me, and I loved this book. I literally had to force myself to put it down.

Finally, I am adding some pictures I had no idea were being taken. I am glad they were, though, because seeing pieces of everyday life without posing or planning is refreshing. First up is this gem Flynn took of me in my natural element.

Yep. Me with my phone on the couch in my jammies. True life, right there. Madison snapped this next one when we went for ice cream. I am so happy she did because it is a moment in life that would have gone unnoticed had she not.

Please note: The kids bought my cone! I could not believe how big it was! For the record, it is Hershey Cappuccino Crunch and Hershey Cold Brew Caramocha. You know, just in case you want to try them.

Well, I need to run. The dogs have an appointment with the groomer, and I have one with the laundry. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. And a special Thank You to those of you that do not blog but read and comment here. I am so happy you do and appreciative that I get to know you through your comments!

Have a cozy afternoon, my friends!

Around Here Lately

Hello there! And Happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week to end the month of April. Sometimes I have some serious thoughts to share here in this little space; other times, I share some fun. Every now and then, I find a few photos on my camera roll that haven't yet found a post to call home, so today is a random photo post from our little world! First up. Cookies! Peyton is the chief cookie baker, as you well know. Since she is a happy homemaker now, we don't enjoy homemade goodies as much. However, one day this week, Madison and Flynn made these beautiful things, and they were delicious!

My first and my last. We talked the other day that Flynn is now the age Madison was when I had her! Madison and her friends threw me a surprise baby shower all those years ago. And by surprise, I mean I was literally surprised! Seeing these two now is beautiful, remembering how much Madison loved Flynn before she was even born.

And how lucky are we all that Madison found this amazing guy from across the ocean who also loves Flynn and always includes her in the late-night Dairy Queen runs??

Would you believe these two just celebrated their First Wedding Anniversary?!? What a beautiful life they have made together. And while I have many favorite photos of that lovely day, these two are perhaps the best...

Is there anything better than literally seeing the joy in your daughter's face when she realizes her dream come true?

And this one. I don't know how many times the camera caught Christopher glancing at Peyton that day, but seeing it, I know I will never have to worry about her.

They celebrated with the tradition of eating the top of their wedding cake, which they said was as delicious as it was on their special day. And which also spent twelve months in my freezer, only almost accidentally disposed of while thought to be outdated cheesecake one time. Peyton and Flynn text each other every single day. And I love it.

Through the years, I have commented many times how very blessed I am to have married a man who loves all types of activities, sports, crowds, and people. Steve has always been the class trip chaperone- concert-going- sled riding-football, hockey, and baseball game parent, and I am so thankful to him for that. The memories he has shared with all of our children will stay with them forever.

He cooks a darn good burger too!

And then there is me. And my Mocha. Who often seems to masquerade as a bunny.

I am getting lots of visitors outside my window. And it is so funny to everyone because I really am afraid of birds!

Well, I guess if there is a theme here, it is one I write about often. Family. I am blessed that my children's best friends are each other. And that given a choice, while maintaining friendships with peers, each of them chooses to spend time together. With us. Together.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
Thanks for visiting

Randomness Is Happiness

Steve and I went to a beautiful outdoor wedding of the son of our very dear friends. It was the most beautiful, romantic, enjoyable wedding we have attended in so long. The attention to detail was incredible, and the food was amazing. But most wonderful of all was sharing the day with people so dear to us. Thank you, Arnie and Paula, for including us in your beautiful family day.

My little shadow abandoned me last night. I couldn't find her anywhere until Flynn spotted her on Rhett's bed, waiting for him to come home.

Late summer offers so much beauty. And I appreciate it.
But...
Does anyone know what movie this iconic scene is from???
Come on, you know you do!

Thanks for all the wishes for Flynn. She is on the mend, and after a few nights slathered in Vicks, she is sleeping better and eating again. I read her all your comments, and she was so appreciative!

Have a cozy Wednesday, my friends. It is an all-day rain event here. So we are all cozy and warm. Steve has a business dinner tonight, so no cooking for me! Any suggestions???

Thanks for visiting.
I promise I will be around to visit with you all soon.
