Monday Morning Coffee Talk

Good morning, my friends! How was your weekend? Here in Pennsylvania, it was gloriously summerlike and perfect for our plans, which included our final May birthday celebration! Peyton turned twenty-three on May 31, so we celebrated with her Saturday evening. Everyone was able to be here, and we all had a wonderful time. There was tubing on the lake, hot dogs on the grill, a fire with S'mores and mountain pies, presents, and an ice cream birthday cake she didn't have to make herself!

My Posey.
( Her full name is Peyton Rose. )
She shares joy and happiness every single day.
And, man, can she bake!

And with her awesome husband, Christopher. Who appears to have a halo?!

And my husband, who most certainly should have one! He is and has always been the doer of all fun things when it comes to our family. He is the boat driver, roller coaster rider, swim teacher, main concertgoer, drivers ed teacher, and all-around fun guy. He allows me to do what I do best, step back and arrange, organize, and prepare. I could be and still am the stroller pusher, backpack holder, party organizer, and sunscreen sprayer. I am behind the scenes. Exactly where I love to be. Together, we are a pretty good team!

To illustrate my point, allow me to share some photos of what I did while they were all out on the boat. First, I got dinner ready. Which consisted of opening two bags of chips, setting out paper plates, and organizing condiments. So, there's that!

Then, I sat outside with the pups, drank some iced coffee, read a good book, and snapped phone pictures of all the fun. When they were finished, the guys covered the boat, Nicolas cooked the hot dogs, and the girls helped me prepare everything else. Grown children are the best.

Finally, in other news you don't really need to know; I am trying to be more consistent in my healthy eating choices. I am wavering between a solid weight loss program like Weight Watchers, which worked for me before, and just watching myself, cooking, and eating healthier while drinking more water. I am still up in the air about it!

Remember the saga of the spatula? Well, I finally purchased one, and our lives are better for it! Next up were our drinking glasses. We have had the same drinking glasses forever!!! ( This is where Steve always tells everyone it is because I made a SLIGHT error when ordering them and may have selected twelve dozen instead of twelve, but who's counting?? ) They are like those Pizza Hut cups...the plastic with a weird design? Well, we used them for years! Anyway, I finally decided we needed new glasses. And after careful consideration, I decided on these ones from Amazon. They are basic. And pretty. And plastic. I cannot do glass glasses for every day. I know they are better. I just have a thing about broken glass and shards of it, and I just can't. It's a thing.

Well, that is all for today. I hope you have a wonderful Monday, my friends. Stay cool and cozy, and remember to throw some sunscreen on. Thanks for visiting!

Monday Morning Coffee Chat

Good Monday morning, my friends! How are we all doing with the time change? I remember when the kids were babies, and I had them on a schedule. I had the hardest time deciding when to put them down for their naps after changing the clocks. Steve would just shake his head! Those were the days!

I am sitting here with my coffee by the fire, staring out at the slowly falling snow. I have said my prayers, unloaded the dishwasher, and am just about to make breakfast. Later I will homeschool with Flynn, change my bedsheets, and do a grocery order. Dinner tonight is tacos! When one has thawed ground beef in the fridge to use, one makes tacos! You can't go wrong with that! Monday nights are for The Bachelor, so that is my plan after the dishes are done, the counters are wiped, and the little kitchen lamp is turned on.

Here are just a few pictures to sum up our weekend...

Obligatory on the way to Mass selfie

Peyton happy to finally have snow

And Madison happy at work in her very own Bridal shop

Oh! And the super pretty, super easy, and super delicious breakfast I made for Steve and me Saturday morning ~ an egg, Laughing Cow Cheese, and spinach roll-up on a low-carb tortilla!

Have a cozy Monday, my friends!

Home And Another Birthday!

Home.
There is nowhere else I'd rather be.

And look who turned 22? My Peyton Rose. And to no one's surprise, she prepared her own birthday meal and cake, with help from her hubby! She served sloppy joes, BBQ chicken sandwiches, homemade macaroni salad, baked beans, and corn on the cob. And the cake. Oh, the cake. Sometimes I still see her as a tiny toddler in a purple Garanimals sweatsuit with a small little bow on the top, standing on a chair stirring a big bowl of brownie batter.

Christopher surprised her with a set of cast iron cookware, and he made her a board to hang them on! She was thrilled!

The Core Four, as Rhett calls them.
( Before I took this picture, I said, "I am responsible for this!" )

Well, have a lovely weekend, my friends. Not much planned here. Some hamburgers on the grill, meal planning, grocery shopping, mass, and hopefully some lake time. Oh, and if you haven't seen this movie yet, you must. It is amazing!! We all loved it, and for different reasons. My kids enjoyed it for the action and storyline. I did as well, but also for so much more. I mean, thirty-six years!! Thirty-six years since I went with my sister and her friend to see Top Gun in the theatre. Seeing Tom Cruise reprise his role without missing a beat and realizing that thirty-six years have passed, even though it feels like yesterday, was unbelievable. And that sixteen-year-old high school junior is now a fifty-two-year-old wife and mother. As my mom always sings, "Life is but a Dream."

Monday Morning Coffee Talk ...On A Tuesday

Good morning, my friends! Today is Tuesday, a fact I will be reminding myself of all day long. Our weekend started chilly and rainy and cozy and ended sunny and pleasant. And cozy. Marian was visiting, and she and I had a wonderful visit with my mom at her place on Sunday afternoon. We found her all decked out in her red, white, and blue and happy as always! As I visited with her, I was reminded again how quickly our lives seem to pass. Twenty-one years ago, my mom was with me as I brought our Peyton Rose into the world!

Yes. Peyton turned twenty-one yesterday! And she was as happy as always on her special day. Peyton is a kind, joyous soul. She is an organizer, caretaker, baker, cook, gameplayer, movie watcher, best friend, and wife! Peyton loves life. She loves holidays. She loves caring for others and is always smiling. Happy Birthday, Peyton Rose!

We celebrated her with her favorite foods at her beautiful new home. We ate, laughed, visited, played cards, and ate some more. And then we went our separate ways, joined by wonderful memories. And a family group text that keeps us all together, even when we are apart.

Have a cozy week, my friends!
Thanks for visiting!

Wedding Photo Wednesday

I cannot say enough about the joy and beauty of this day. These two young people shared their love with a small amount of family and friends in an intimate, blessed, joyous way. So many commented to me about the literal joy and love they felt witnessing the marriage of Peyton and Christopher. More than one person commented on how much they loved the simplicity of their wedding as opposed to the elaborateness of so many others. Peyton planned her wedding as she always has done all things. In her way. And I could not be happier or more proud! My girl has realized her dream in Christopher. May God bless them with a blessed, joyous life together!

These beautiful images were captured by an amazingly talented and lovely photographer, who also happens to be my niece, Hope. What a joy to have family document such a blessed day! Thank you, Hope Moose Photography!

And thank you, friends, for all the kind words, prayers, and wishes!
Have a cozy Wednesday.
