Good morning, my friends! It is a rainy Wednesday morning here in Pennsylvania, and I just finished loading the dishwasher and making my coffee. I took a few quick pictures of the state of my kitchen this random June morning to share with you today.
A cake stand with crumbs from a delicious loaf of pumpkin bread...
This cushiony mat that keeps my feet from hurting...
The griddle that I keep forgetting to put away but we use every day anyway...
The folded dishtowel by the sink stained with strawberry juice...
My current read that I brought down this morning...
The electric teakettle I cannot live without...
And fresh vegetables waiting to be seasoned and baked.
Kitchens are the heart of a home, don't you think?
Have a cozy afternoon!
Thanks for visiting!
Billie Jo
It's so nice to know us homemakers lead such similar lives in similar kitchens. ;) I especially couldn't live without my big squishy mat in front of the sink area too. And my olive oil dispenser, keurig coffee maker, and big messy crock next to the stovetop full of my whisks, spatulas, big spoons all handy so I don't have to go digging.
ReplyDeleteAmen that it is the heart of the home over here too ...and I couldn't be happier about that. Blessings.
Yes, I do think kitchens are the heart of the home, my friend. And I use mine a lot. I love that electric tea kettle that you have, and your pumpkin bread sounds Yummy. Love the kitchen mat too. Rainy days are just the best, and it gives us a chance to do nothing and just appreciate home.
ReplyDeleteHave a sweet day, Billie Jo.

Kitchens, the gathering place and heart of the home!
ReplyDeleteVery true and I love this, a great collection. Every kitchen I have ever been to, from childhood to my own now, has always been the heart of the home. Yours looks so welcoming!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! My questions and comments are...what are you going to make with the vegetables? I have the same dish towel, bought at Wal-Mart. I want to know all about the kettle, it is better than using a microwave? I love your mat; do they really help?
ReplyDeleteVery true. The kitchen is the heart of the home. I love your kitchen. It's lived in and loved. I have a mat like you're and it really does help. And obviously your loaf of bread in the cake keeper was good.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
When I first pulled this up, I thought I read left over coffee and evening tea. I had to laugh because I swear every cookie of cake recipe, I have that comes from Sweden has left over coffee in it. They wasted nothing, and my mother always told me that her mom would start a large pot of coffee right before her restaurant closed. Even though no one was there to drink it. Because grandma served heated up coffee, hotcakes and hashbrowns to the tramps that came to the back door of the restaurant. She thought at least they could have fresh coffee to start the day. They often did hard chores in exchange for a meal. If they were young and in their teens they could have two glasses of milk. I just think that is such a cute story about my grandma. The government gave grandma all the potatoes, and flour for free. She also got some lard every month.
ReplyDeleteThat way she could feed the homeless after and during the depression. She always made way too much soup so that could be fed to them at night with the days old bread or rolls. Again things that did not cost her much but her time.
I love the scenes from your cozy and well-loved home. Enjoy the rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteThat electric tea kettle is unique.
ReplyDeleteA rainy morning here too in western MD.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen an electric tea kettle before.
Loved the "as is" tour of your kitchen, so welcoming. I remember my mother telling me if I bought a house to make sure it had a big kitchen because that's where everyone would always gather. Of course, somehow, I have a small kitchen here but we make do. Hope you are having a fabulous Wednesday and enjoyed that rain!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures of a well-used kitchen. I like your electric kettle. I like your griddle too. We have cast iron round one that we use to make quesadillas on. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI love this tour of your kitchen :) I bet you had a wonderful day :)
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen. It seems so cozy and comforting. That kettle! I hope your rainy day was excellent.
ReplyDeleteI always imagine your kitchen to be busy, and to be filled with family and love. Xx
ReplyDeleteNice kitchen items. I have seen that rug at a store and I like it. I still have one that has tea kettles on it. I almost bought an electrical water heater but decided what I have on stove is fine for now. It has been cool today and hope the rain shows up this weekend as we need it. We water plants almost everyday outdoors. Too much pollen/smoke in air this evening so Megan didn't go out and water. No sneezing or coughing allowed in the house....hahahaha!! Have a blessed day!!
